Solved my problem!
Someone had cross threaded one of the plugs in my 2010 5.4 E350 van. This kit was effective and easy to use. I adapted a piece of hose to my shop vac to suck out a few aluminum chips that fell into the cylinder. I used a Nidage wireless bore scope to be sure that all debris had been successfully sucked out of the cylinder.

If you have a Ford ranger with 2.3L DOHC this is not the tool for the novice
Save yourself the headache........chase the thread or replace the head. Regarding the Ford 2.3L DOHC

The tool fixed my car, but I thought for the price it would be made in USA, but it’s made in Asia somewhere. Little disappointed it wasn’t American made for the money

Worked great! Save myself about $800. Dont get the cheap $20 kits. I repaired a blown out plug on my 09 F150. Things that are not in the instructions. After installing the insert, do not pull the insertion tool out. I left it in there for about two hours to allow the thread lock to dry good. If you try backing it out before the thread lock sets up, you will more than likely back the insert out. I got this advice from a lisle technical support guy. He also said to keep driving the tap until you feel little resistance. I drove the tap through until I hit the piston.

insert issue (update)
4/12 update.. Lisle sent a new package of 11/16 inserts and were threaded properly. Thanks Lisle!!!! Lisle always makes good stuff, "usually" however this time the 11/16" long inserts are not threaded all the way on the inside. Making them useless because the insert installer has short threads and will not reach the bottom of the inside of the insert. The 1', 5/16 and 7/16" inserts are all threaded completely through. Of course the one I need for this job is the 11/16". Product inspection is not up to par on this item.

All is good with help of online videos as well as a friend mechanic.
Pretty easy to use. Directions could be a bit more detailed. Make sure your spark plugs thread into the inserts before you attempt to install the insert. It comes with three inserts of the size I needed. One of my inserts would not accept the spark plug. The second one got ruined because I didn't hit the swedging tool hard enough when setting the insert after the tap. Luckily the third one was good and a friend mechanic informed me you have to hit the swedging tool really hard to set the insert. So far truck is running well but time will tell.

The tool you need for fixing damaged threads on deep well spark plug (sohc or dohc)
I recently ran into a vehicle where the rear spark plug was cross threaded (put in crooked) THIS IS THE ONLY TOOL THAT MADE THE REPAIR EASILY. You will have to take my word on I tried a lot of different ways to get at the threads. this tool did the job easy peasy. I did not have to use the threaded inserts because the threads were damaged they just needed to be recut so the plug would go straight in like factory and I was covered if i had to cut them all out and rethread with one of the inserts provided . very happy :)

This is the kit to buy
This unit made thread repair so simple. This kit is great because it fits so well into deep holes. When using it is suggested to use lots of grease on the tap (Pack with grease at least every turn of the tap and this prevents any debris form falling into the cylinder and also lubricates the tap). The inserts work excellent as you cant put in to deep because the insertion tool has a shoulder. Would strongly recommend this kit if you want to do it right the first time.
