Cheap Plastic
A friend has a nice metal version of this magnifying glass from Sharper Image that is very well made. Since I like his, I was excited to find this model on Amazon and ordered it. Upon opening the package I was disappointed by the quality just based on a visual inspection. The fit and finish of this product is very poor. Trying not to be deterred by my initial impression, I picked it up and was shocked at how light weight the item is. It simply felt like the cheap plastic product that it is. When I turned the magnifier over to place two AA batteries in it, the magnifying lens "flopped" because of all the play between the two plastic halves that it is set in. There is also another unidentifiable loose item that moves around and rattles within the frame. To be clear, every time the magnifier is picked up, the acrylic lens and another loose item move and rattle because there is so much play between the two halves of the plastic frame. Now the positive. The acrylic lens is clear and the LEDs are very bright, so it delivers as advertised. Just be aware that every time you pick this magnifier up, you are going to have visual, tacit and audible feedback that it is a very cheap plastic item that is made in China. If you are OK with this as a starting position, you should like the item. If you want a better made product that isn't quite as bright but does an excellent job, I would suggest ordering this magnifier:Carson Optical Lighted Magnifold Magnifier . If you are looking for a very well engineered metal magnifier with a glass lens, the same design and lasting quality, look for a seasonal product from Sharper Image that is usually available around the holidays. I am rating this as a two star product due to it's low quality and poor craftsmanship.

best magnifier/light!
love everything about this great product! the lights are very bright. this magnifier fits nicely in a side pocket of my purse for convenient storage - I take it everywhere. I use it to read medicine bottle labels, menus, receipts, and tons of other things I can't see with the naked eye in dim or semi-dim lighting. I had cataracts removed over a year ago and artificial lens ($3500) put in with the promise of 20/20 vision. Distance-wise great, close up - not so much (without proper lighting). This fits the bill perfectly. Showed it to several of my friends (those without cataract or artificial lens) - I've since had to order 6 more. This product has surely been a lifesaver for me. Just wonder why I hadn't found this earlier (I used to carry a small flashlight in my purse which was quite heavy). This is very lightweight and easy to carry and use. For $7.59, you can't go wrong. When you share it with your friends, be prepared to order more!

Good Lighted Magnifier for Coin Review
The magnifier did exactly what the description stated for the product. It provides a lighted area beneath the lens using the LEDs. The lower 4x magnification allows ease to view the coin being evaluated as a coin to keep for further examination or a coin to toss. This is exactly what I was searching for to assist my eyes during the sorting (keep or toss) of the circulated coins under review. The LEDs do provide good light, but on shiny metallic items like coins, the LEDs cause a slight glare while examining the coin which tires my eyes after awhile. If you are trying to save cost and provide a means of viewing your coins for durations of one hour or less, this is a good device. The magnifier can be very handy for other uses like removing slivers which I had to do.

First one is great, second one is defective
What I gather from my own experience and reading some of the most recent reviews is that you may be fortunate and get a good one, but you may not be so fortunate. The first one that I ordered on 7/22/13 was great--very bright light and a lot of magnification. On 8/2/13, I ordered another for a gift, but it was defective. The on/off button is recessed too far. It makes it hard to turn on and impossible to turn off without using something with a point, such as a pen, etc. Also, something is different concerning the magnification. At first, I thought that it didn't magnify as much. Now, I believe that it does, but it must be held further away from whatever is being magnified. It's hard to say whether I recommend it or not, due to the inconsistency in the manufacturing.

The LED's are incredible!
I purchased this for my Grandmother who is 85 years old. She was having difficulty seeing after a stroke and I thought this would help. She loves that it has built in LED lights, which helps immensely with her viewing ability. Also, this is super user friendly. You can use it with or with out the lights and because of the LED's, the batteries last a very long time. My grandmother took this to the eye doctor to use at her appointment, and even the doctor commented on how much he liked this magnifying glass. After my inital purchase for my grandmother, and seeing how great this light is, I purchased two more for my Dad and another Grandfather. All of them have worked perfectly with no problems whatsoever. A wonderful product. I would highly recommend it to anyone of any age. My 7 year old even wants one!

Works OK, but there's better.
I bought one of these some time ago and it was one of the better magnifier's I'd found, mostly because of the multiple LED lights that surround what you're looking at and light it from multiple angles. This was my second purchase of one of these, but was damaged in shipment. There's no padding to speak of in the magnifier packaging. The outer shipping box was much larger and allowed this to fly around inside and it cracked the outer ring. It still works, but switch has problems and the lens rattles around. But, that's not why I'm knocking a couple of stars off of this. I found some Vivitar magnifiers that I like a better than this one. The Vivitar magnifiers have better light focus and the optics seem a little nicer.

Lights don't work for long
I've had this since Feb. 2016 and all the lights (but one) stopped working. I've put in new batteries but 5 lights no longer works. Disappointing. I don't know how to fix that.

I bought these for the in-laws who struggle with lighting in the house and need to shed some light on what they're trying to look at. Work well for them, they can see without getting a flashlight out!

la calidad es muy baja, la luz led es mu deficiente y por el costo no lo recomiendo mucho, preferible pagar un poco mas por una de mejor calidad.
