Very nice unit but a little bigger than expected
This weather station provides all the information we need. Its bright and attractive. Although its larger than our last unit its easy to read. When there is a power failure the batteries kick in but the screen goes into an energy saving dark mode.

It does what it claims to do.
i purchased this as a replacement to one I gifted my Dad decades ago. He loved it and once it became my inheritance, I did as well. But all things wear out eventually and when the previous version stopped working I looked around for replacements and could not find anything better that had been developed in the years since the original. I love the easy-to-read display and the useful information it provides. This unit is one of the first things I check at the beginning of each of my days and one of the last i check at night. Love it. Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best. And this is one of those.

less than impressive...
I bought this to replace a La Crosse WS-8117U-IT-C that i bought back in 2004/2005, as the outdoor sensor finally died. The sensor has been "retired" by La Crosse. Go figure. The base unit still works, so still using it for time & indoor temperature. I bought the vertical unit because the time & date section is at the top & larger than the horizontally oriented products. It takes up around 20% of the display. I have it mounted on the wall facing west. Sensor is in a La Crosse protective housing (facing north, in the shade) about 30' away. I had no problem pairing the sensor with the base, & the base made connection with the atomic clock in Colorado with no issues. Time and date are accurate. Below the time & date is a cutsey animated display that shows sunshine, clouds, rain, snow, lightening, green grass, & flowers. Presumably it will show a frozen white tundra when winter arrives. It takes up a good 30% of the display & is a complete joke. With 3 straight weeks of mostly sunny weather & no rain in the forecast for 10 days, rain fell in the display for 4 days. Then back to reality. It did that twice. Last night it rained, & it did reflect that. In my opinion, this is a complete waste of space on the base unit. Below that is the outside temperature/humidity section, taking up 25% of the display. This appears to be working normally. Below that is the indoor temperature/humidity. It indicates temps 2-3 degrees higher than my thermostat, old La Cross clock, & 2 other "analog" thermometers I have laying around. On another occasion, the OUTDOOR temperature soared to 84 degrees - on a clear blue sky 70 degree fall day. No - the sensor does not sit in the sun. I tried a factory reset, & that cured it. Indoor temp is still off. New clock is mounted in the exact same location as my "vintage" one, so that's not the issue. This takes up the last 25% of the display. Other fun stuff: on two occasions, the base unit display (while under wall wart power & battery backup) went completely black - the first time for 5 minutes, the second time for over 15 minutes. Then lit up again with no help from me. It's a colorful display hanging on the wall with a DC power cord hanging down. Not a clean look, but unavoidable. Half of the display information is accurate. I doubt is this rascal is going to last 17+ years like my last La Crosse product did. Wish i could have found a replacement outdoor sensor for my old unit. I really expected more from these guys. because my old setup was solid. Will update if it lasts through warranty. Side note: I did a factory reset on this unit within a week of opening the box. I did a factory reset on my old atomic clock once - 17 years after opening the box.

Nice weather station, easy to read
Nice weather station, simple setup, screen is easy to read. Temperature accuracy is on par, do avoid placing the sensor in areas where there will be a lot of sunlight, it can lead to inaccurate readings.

Location, location, location!!!!
I have been waiting for months to leave a proper review for this product.....I purchased for my 4th grader who became very interested in meteorology through his science class. I've read all of the good reviews and all of the critical reviews and I have a few usage suggestions that may make your experience with this product more positive: #1 LOCAION!!! Most complaints I have read have had to do with temperature inaccuracy with the sensor. I had early issues as well but these were user errors.....you need to fiddle with where you put the sensor to get the most accurate readings. Factors such as direct sunlight and attaching the sensor in corner areas on vinyl siding where heat can pool can cause major variances. I originally had the sensor in a high corner of a semi enclosed porch to protect from elements but mid day temp reading sky rocketed against actual temps. This was first noticed in October during those first few 50 degree days when our weather station was recording highs in the 70's. I next moved the sensor on our outdoor shed but the 1st placement caught too much direct sunlight causing flux in temp readings for the time of day the sun was direct. Finally I moved it beneath an overhang on the shed where it was shielded from direct sunlight. Since then, it's hasn't recorded false extremes. Remember if it's 75 out but you're sitting out in direct sunlight, it's going to feel a lot warmer.....same deal for the sensor, it has no idea if it's in shade or sun, #2 Fact check the readings to make sure you have it right. I have the Weatherbug app and there is a reporting weather station within 5 miles of my home. Check your highs, lows and current temps for a few days to make sure you don't need to move your sensor. #3 I'm not sure how some of the complaints occurred where some folks could not get a reading below freezing or other cold readings....again it may come back to placement but here in PA we finally had our first really bad cold snap and our station registered single digit temps in both day and night situations. #4 My son has his plugged in and displayed on his dresser.....the backlight is always on when it's plugged in so we don't have the issue of the battery option only displaying a backlight when you push a button. It would seem the 24/7 backlight would drain batteries and I understand why it's only an as needed feature on that setting. If you do plan to plug it in, be prepared for the plug it's massive! If I have one complaint it's that the plug takes up 3 spaces on his power strip. All in all it's a great product that my son has enjoyed and used for five months now and has helped maintain his interest in meteorology. We like that it displays his indoor temp as well as outdoor and that it shows a future weather graphic. He did an experiment where he recorded the unit's forecast and then wrote down the actual weather the next day and it did very well not only predicting precipitation but the type we got. It actually did better than our local weatherman a couple of times. The true test of a 5 star product for me? I bought it 5 months ago, I forget what I paid for it and my 9 year old is still very interested in it. Put the sensor in a place where it can do its job and this product will serve you well.

Good product
Product was delivered a few days earlier, which was a pleasant surprise. I have given one ⭐ less because of the following reasons: Country of origin was mentioned as USA but product is made in China. The power adaptor is for 120V. In India,we get 220V supply. La Crosse customer care was not so helpful. With a bit of googling and advice from my electrician, I figured out the solution. Solution set me back another Rs 2000 as I had to buy a step down voltage product. Suggestion: Being an international brand, appropriate power adaptors should be despatched depending on country. If not, seller should include note regarding how to solve voltage issues. Not everyone is an electrician ???? Unnecessary large space is given to the pressure section on the display. When pressure goes down,it generally indicates rain but it seldom rains. So pretty much irrelevant. Overall, good product, accurate and display has large fonts.
