Fast and Easy

Easy to install into toilets that have a cylinder instead of a flapper. The previous seal started to leak after more than 12 years of faithful service. When I noticed the toilet was leaking, I thought it was the fill valve. After replacing that, knew it was not the problem. By rotating the top of the cylinder a quarter turn counter-clockwise, I was able to replace the cylinder in less than five minutes. Was ready to have the plumber come and fix it so saved me quite a bit of money but doing it myself. I have a Devonshire Kohler toilet but the seal is universal. Videos available on YouTube if you would like to see how it is done step by step.

Better than OEM Kohler, but still fails in 9-12 months

The OEM Kohler gasket is hydroscopic and develops bubbles causing a leaky seal usually in less than 6 months. You can usually "pop" the bubble and get a couple of weeks respite before having to change it out. This unit does not have the same problem, however it starts to dissolve at 9-12 months. So it does last longer, but with a failure just the same. It last longer than the OEM, but I could not rate it better just bad in a different way!? I purchased this product knowing that it fails, solely because it lasts longer than the OEM. I don't consider that an endorsement, just the lesser of two evils so to speak. I am still looking for a superior solution. I neither asked for nor received any compensation in any form for this review. This is a recounting of my actual experience with the product, "your mileage may vary"! One should read and consider both positive and negative reviews of this product and it's competitors prior to making a purchase decision. The final decision is yours, and yours alone! I rated this just average based on comparison with the OEM, should I encounter a better product I would probably rate this a 1 or 2 star product.

easiest installation ever

I was able to complete install of this in about 5 mins. The instructions were clear and easy to understand. It fixed the 'random flush' problem that I was having immediately.

One of the two rings is probably a throw away

I'd really like to give this 2.5 stars, because I have no idea how the second Kohler seal works on the Kohler toilet, but the one for American Standard deserves about zero stars. This review is only regarding the American standard flush valve replacement seal. That's the one without the little tab on it. It's really easy to replace, I know, because I have done it several times. Supposedly there's a 5-year warranty, which I think I'm going to try to collect on. For me these have been lasting about two months and then the toilet starts leaking again. The seal warps and stretches a bit and eventually won't stay in place. I just changed out my third one. If for some reason this one lasts much longer, I will try to remember to come back here and update my review, but for now they really seem to be poor quality and only last a very short amount of time.

Perfect seal for 6 months

Fairly easy to install, works perfectly for 6 months, then fails. Original American Standard seal worked for 17 years.

Keep these on hand. You're gonna need 'em!

After thinking our toilet needed an exorcism, I found out it was just this little mason-jar ring looking thing that needed replacing (thank you, YouTube!). In the middle of the night, the toilet just started to run, all by itself. So, I to Amazon and bought a set of these for each bathroom, knowing that once one goes, I can expect to replace them all shortly. Installation was all of 30 seconds. Works beautiful. I ordered 2 sets and tossed the second set in the cabinet in the second bathroom. Sure enough, the evil spirit moved from the master bathroom to the guest bathroom. Toilet #2 stated to run on its own again. In 30 seconds, I had it fixed. Any way. These are inexpensive (far more than an exorcist, probably). So I highly recommend ordering as many sets as you have toilets. They are inexpensive and will solve the problem!
