The right style flapper
I have a Kolher Rialto toilet that I bought in 1988 and when it started to leak I knew that it was either the flapper or the gasket under the flush valve. After I inspected the flapper I could see that after all those years it was worn out and I was surprised that it lasted that long. I went to Home Depot but they didn't have that style Kolher flapper so I bought a universal flapper for 2" flush valves but it wouldn't even fill the tank because it couldn't seal properly with the Kolher flush valve. I tried another home improvement store and could not find the right flapper so I bought some Flex Seal rubber spray and re coated the old worn out flapper and it worked but I didn't think it would last so I searched Amazon and found the Korky flush ball flapper for Kohler and ordered it and it works like new. I have since found the Kolher genuine parts flapper GP49114 but they are both the same, manufactured by Lavelle IND.. INC. Made in USA, so I also bought a Kolher as a spare.

Perfect as a replacement for specific applications
First of all, if you're going to order this, make absolutely sure that the part to be replaced is a "shark fin flapper". This is slightly oversized (the opening is maybe 2-3/8" wide and not a standard 2") and the Kohler overflow tube (where the flapper mounts on L-shaped pegs) will be rectangular-shaped. If it doesn't fit, don't blame Lavelle or Amazon just because they say it "may fit" certain model names. Kohler is well known for building the same model names/numbers with different internal parts. If you look at the original flapper, it will be pretty obvious is this is the proper replacement. There are no other flappers like it with a triangular fin at the top like this one. Compare the photo to that of the part to be replaced, and you will know. Additionally, this is functionally identical to the one that Kohler sells as their own replacement part - currently model# GP1078440. At least at one time (if not now) Lavelle (Korky) made the ones that Kohler sells, although Fluidmaster could also be producing and/or selling a functionally identical part. Kohler doesn't make most of their the internal parts - they source them from companies like Lavelle and Fluidmaster, although some are designed specifically for Kohler and don't fit any other companies' toilets. I remember a time when Lavelle sold this particular flapper directly as "Kohler Genuine Parts" with the Kohler logo and everything. When I bought this one, I managed to find an old one in the garage (still unused and probably fine but the blister pack looks messed up) and the UPC code is identical even though the current version doesn't carry any official "Kohler Genuine Parts" verbiage.

Once You Know How to Swim ... It is EASY !
I still like original manufacturer replacement parts. I bought a Kohler part, like-for-like, to replace the old flapper that failed. (Come on ... you'd get tired too after 11 years of doing that type of job!) So then I went to install the new Kohler part. I'm sure it would work. But the old one looked exactly like this Korky. So I bought it on Amazon even though a couple of reviews that you will read about it on this side said that it was less than good. But I figured out the problem: neither the Korky or Kohler parts had very good instructions. And like the old expression goes "once you know how to swim it is easy". The secret is in the installation. Look at the Korky part. It has a rubber-like band at its rear. The Kohler has a hard bar there. My fingers are just too big to work in the tight space inside that Kohler toilet. So I physically could not do it. The Korkys, on the other hand, was a piece of cake to install. ALL YOU DO IS STRETCH THAT BACK RUBBER BAND SECTION AS YOU SLIP IT INTO PLACE !!! Done! Because my Kohler toilet is now over a decade old, I bought 2 more just because Kohler has discontinued THEIR replacement part. I did not want the same thing to happen with ordering another Korkys.

The seal could be a little better.
It not a great seal, but it’s okay. I don don’t know if you the OEM would be better.

Korky makes a good product and Kohler has a non-standard flush valve that ...
Korky makes a good product and Kohler has a non-standard flush valve that requires a unique flapper. This fits the bill. It wraps around a 2 1/2"(?) rectangular overflow tube and connects on the back side to two clip points. I use the second set up from the bottom, following a youtube video instruction. THIS Flapper has to be stretched, without breaking, to make it thin enough to enter the clips. Then I centered it. The flush handle on the Kohler Rialto SanRaphael does not reach far enough to be top dead center over the flapper. So when you flush the chain tugs the flapper slightly sideways. I think that this is why the Kohler replacement uses a "stiff" bar across the back instead of the "stretchy" one that the Korky uses. I checked the video and found that this was normal. I did fit the chain and remove all of the excess links though, to prevent them from ending up between the flapper & the seal when the Korky gets pulled left & the water runs in to the right. (I have a left side flush handle) If I can get 10 years out of this one, I'll be happy.

Cheap but works great
I have been using this product 10+ years and change it almost every 1-2 years. Even though I have to change it every 1-2 years, I have no problem to spend $6. If you use this first time, you may need time to learn how to put it on right place since it's impossible to see the back of main plastic tube. You can touch the back of it to guess the shape. Or you can go to hardware store to see a new one. Nevertheless, it's not this part problem but the toilet design issue. There are several different height you can use and make sure you put this part on proper level height. Otherwise, the flapper will not cover the water drain hole completely. Then leak, of course. If you don't like this kind of flapper, look for other kind of toilet next time. I would do that too since I don't like this style of toilet but I inherited from the previous owner. Anyway, overall quality of this part is great!

Easy to install, and works, no fuss, very simple to replace.
Came in a few days, about the same price as other major Hardware stores (but I didn't need to go there and look for it). Just made sure by checking the toilet model #, and comparing the image with the original (damaged) one. After 10 years or so, the rubber was getting flimsy on the original and was allowing water leakage on a regular basis. It also wasn't sitting right. It was very easy to remove (used 2 pencils to help wedge it out since my hands and fingers were too short to reach) Once it was popped out, simply slide it up the black plastic post. Taking out the water thingy on the left side made putting in the new one very, very very easy. Whole job took probably less than 15 minutes from unpacking the flapper to testing it. Wish everything I fixed went this well. Thank you Amazon!
