Previous flapper, same item, long-lived. I'm replacing it before it fails for good measure.
Quite surprising that the current flapper has not failed. I installed it years ago. Figured I would replace it while I was thinking about it. I've replaced flappers numerous times in other toilets, but this one wins for longevity.

Better quality than generic brand
This is the third flapper I’ve had to put in my toilet. The toilets been in place for about 15 years. Last time I replaced the flapper, I replaced it with one from one of the big box stores. It was not an OEM product. What I installed turned to gout within three years. When I ordered this product, I immediately noticed the better quality of the rubber. I expect this one to last 5+ years.

It works
Been in my house roughly 4 years and just started to notice my toilet was running every few minutes. Found that my old flapper started to deteriorate causing a hole in the top which was leaking water. Luckily when I flipped over the lid, a fancy diagram with the flappers product number was listed. Shipping was fast and the product is a direct Koehler replacement. My toilet is now quiet with no leaks, saving me money. It was super easy to remove the old one and install the new, this took me all of 30 seconds.

Not Genuine Kohler Part - Close, but not close enough
It's infrequent that I order an item that is inferior. When there is an opportunity, I read the reviews, filter out those that I think are untrustworthy, and make my decision. I probably didn't read any reviews for this one since I didn't think you could go too far wrong when it comes to replacing an original part that lasted over 10 years and came with my Kohler one-piece toilet. I couldn't have been more mistaken. For starters, whoever packed the box didn't bother to bend down the spacers that have to be bent out of the way when a large flapper like this is packed in a box designed to hold various sized products. That resulted in a permanent deformation to the bottom side where it was collapsed when packed. I put damp sand in it and put it in the sun for a week or so and managed to get it close to the original shape. It was close enough that it was likely not to affect the performance. After less than three months of use, the flapper started to repeatedly seat incorrectly, and the leakage was announced by the toilet refilling during the night. It continued to get worse. I removed it and found that the top of the flapper had deformed significantly by the weight of the water above it, and the sealing surface no longer sat squarely on the horn. This type of material (and the amount used in this flapper) might be adequate for a smaller valve opening, but in this 3.5 inch opening it is NOT adequate and will likely result in wasted water and the purchase price after a short service life. Thankfully, I saved the original Kohler part and put it back in the toilet until the GENUINE KOHLER PART I ordered arrives. The bottom line is that the $3 or so that I saved was no saving; it turned into a $9 loss after only 3 months of service. UPDATE: I received the Kohler part today, and unlike the title of this review, it appears to be very similar (almost identical) to this one in material, weight and feel. There is one very important difference that you don't see on the outside and will make a huge difference in the long term performance of the flapper. That difference is the series of ribs inside the flapper radiating out from the center of the top, i.e. the center of the circular portion that is under pressure when the thank is filled with water to the normal level. These ribs stiffen the circular area around the seal and lessen the amount of depression of the top when the tank is full.

Toilet Flappers. Hard to Mess These Up
It's a Kohler toilet flapper. I think the manufacturer and the product name equal a "Let's just leave that one alone" kind of response. I decided to write a review because I ordered this flapper and it was too large for my 'loo. After I yelled at the flapper for being the wrong size, I started to look at the design and construction of the rubbery valve. It is really a marvel of industrial design. They can last multiple human lifetimes if exercised properly, and live submerged in water. I decided to keep the flapper even though I could not use it, as a testament to modern inginuity and practicality, unlike the bogusly cheap toilet tank filler "valves" that need replacing every presidential election. When did they stop being ballcocks? You can't go wrong with a Kohler, unless you buy the wrong size.

Perfect fit
Our toilet has been leaking for a very long time and I’ve replaced the flapper three times with different flappers and the toilet still kept leaking. We had a plumber come out a replace other parts in the toilet and it still leaked. The plumber came back out and said I can’t use a generic flapper on a Kohler toilet. So I ordered this flapper and it Finally stopped my toilet from constantly draining! It only took a few seconds to install and fits perfectly!

Stop Leaking Away Money
This is a great, quick fix for a worn flapper. Any time you hear your toilet running longer or you hear water when you think the toilet should be idle, this should be one of your first parts to check. I have hard water and find mine go every 2-4 years, especially in our powder room which is used less than the main baths. Don’t go only by the main flapper body itself. Mine tend to look fine, but I find the rubber area that fits onto the plastic hinges is what goes first, and the flapper doesn’t fall promptly, or gets stuck. Even cleaning it with vinegar helps only temporarily- they just wear out. There are aftermarket brands but I use the Kohler part since the price is similar. The install is easy, and the chain for the interior handle bar is included.

Kohler Problems
Purchased the flapper and fit perfectly ( model of the toilet on inside of tank), toilet continued to leak after install. Called Kohler and the problem wasn't the flapper it was the pull chain that was too loose. purchased that also and runs great now. CHECK leaver and chain first before you buy
