Excellent flush replacement alternative to flapper

Installed two of these Kohler flush valve kits to replace the old failing ‘flapper-style’ flush valves in two of my father’s aging Kohler toilets. Had to remove the tank from the lower toilet bowl to perform the old flush valve removal and new flush valve replacement. Not too difficult of a task but finicky process. Critical to not over-tighten the tank gasket seal nut. Installation instructions are specific: hand tighten nut plus 1/4 turn. That process worked perfect to seal tank to lower bowl with no leaks. One complaint that drug down review to 4 stars is the installation instructions are not at all clear as to which of the four colored fill tube restrictors or to use. Instructions say to select and install one of the four colored fill tube flow restrictors ‘to achieve best toilet performance’. What the heck is best toilet performance? By process of elimination I settled on the black color fill tube flow restrictors. The black fill tube flow restrictors seemed to fill the bowl best. More instructions specifics on the fill tube flow restrictors would be helpful.

Great replacement part

Fit and worked great. Saved the cost and pain of a full toilet replacement. Stopped the slow drain of the toilet bowl and saved me money.

Works without issues

Installed these parts to correct a toilet that frequently added water to the tank for no apparent reason. There was never any apparent leakage. The tile floor was never wet. Just passed out of the tank through worn seals. Took less than an hour’s time to install.

Easy to install!

At first, I was only going to replace the red seal. After a year of "ghost flushing" the tank wouldn't fill up one day (glad we have a 2nd bathroom). So I decided to replace the entire flush valve after seeing the horrible shape this 11-year-old valve was in. My water is full of deposits as you can see in the photo. On the right is the old one. Yuk! The new one I put in is on the left. I have to say that it was easier and quicker to pop in the new valve than to replace the seal anyway! Excellent product, quick delivery much appreciated. Very easy to replace. I also bought a new Fill Valve to be put in another day. I must add that I'll never again put off repairing something that took less than 10 minutes to replace because I was afraid to Do It Myself. NOTE: When you read the reviews stating that you have to remove the whole tank to replace this, it's not true! If you are only replacing the inside part as shown in my photo, it's a matter of turning the middle piece 1/4 turn clockwise to remove it. Videos on YouTube. Even though you *do* get ALL the parts, you most likely just need to replace the canister portion, not everything. Ten minutes tops!

New flush valve tube cap style broke

The media could not be loaded. I disliked the nipple type replacement cap. Fortunately though I was able to twist off the cannisters original cap. The ‘new’ cap ran noisier. The old male to female compromise was a necessary fix due to the new style being noisy and brittle!

The Part works as expected. The miracle for me is I could oder this part from Amazon, meanwhile, the plumbing company told me it would be 6 weeks before they could get the same part.....
