Echoing another review, I was surprised how visible the drain pipe and the Fernco bushing are after this drain is installed. I installed the Matte Black version, and plain as day you see the (black) Fernco rubber bushing and the top of the (white) 2" pvc drain pipe. Actually, you see not only the end of the drain pipe but you see the (white) inside of the pipe and even the top of the water in the trap. Luckily I had replaced the trap and vertical tailpiece so at least they look fresh. Removing the old drain was a bit of a struggle. I eventually used an air chisel to unscrew the old drain nut and to push the old drain up free of the shower pan. In my case the trap did not have a union so I had to flex the drain pipe down enough to clear the subfloor in order to remove the old retaining nut and to locate the new one. This flexing created a leak in one of the glued joints, so I had to cut back and replace the trap and tailpiece. I would suggest using fresh plumbers putty since the water seal between the pan and the drain body depends on it. This Kohler product includes a Fernco PS-200 Bushing and it isn't the easiest thing to install. I soaked the bushing in hot water (wish I'd used boiling) and lubed it with Sil-Glyde rubber-safe grease, had a cross bar temporarily holding the trap up firm, and used a "4140 Metal Skin Wedge" as a shoe horn while pressing the bushing down with a blunt ended pry tool. After quite a bit of effort, it went in flush to the top of the tailpiece. Which is important because it is entirely visible even after the pop-in grate is installed. If I needed another shower drain then I would buy this product again.

Nice Drain, but don't understand why it's $100 new... if name was removed then its probably $30.

Didn’t use but appears to be a great quality. Design didn’t work for us but looks like a great product. Returned.

Disappointed

First drain was all chipped up, amazon quickly replaced. 2nd drain also has a chip but we do not have time to wait on another. Poor packaging and or quality from Kohler. Expected more for such an expensive drain. Very disappointed.
