No bait needed. It just scoops them up
I have three of these. I recommend the unit that has the plexiglass top so you can see if any mice were "scooped" up. The metal top without the drowning accessory requires that you slide open the top slightly.

Not what it shows
They show a whole set up but all you get are tubes. I actually purchased a box but couldn’t figure out how it would work.

work as it should for the best mouse trap ever
This does not come with a jar and because of the lid that is on it, I have been unable to locate a jar that will work with it that is larger than 32 oz. The trap that it goes to is great but I am not sure this part is worth what you pay for it.

Haven't caught anything.
We set this up a couple days after getting it. We set it up in the garage by the dog food bowl. We haven't caught anything in the month of having it. There was snow at some point around the trap and little foot prints all around but no mice in the trap. We used dog food to bait it and still nothing. It shouldn't be this hard.

Amazing, buying another!
I’m in Minnesota, and get a lot of mice in my garage in the winter. I set this up on 12/26, and have already caught 9 mice. I had an old bottle of “99 Bananas” (99 proof alcohol that smells like bananas) that I used in the mason jar since water would freeze. It works incredibly well. I think the mice are attracted to the smell, just a theory but I caught 9 mice in 12 days. Very happy with this product!

wish it would have caught at least 1 mouse.....
I have mice everywhere at my property. This particular trap has yet to catch one mouse after being used for about 6 weeks now. I even baited the inside trap box with a few pieces of dog food which the mice LOVE at my house. I can't even leave my dog dish out at night or the mice will have it cleaned out. So all the food is protected and the only dog food they can get to now is in this trap - but no mice. My snap traps are working fine though.........not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what - but the trap seems pretty straight forward, so my opinion of it thus far is that it was a waste of money.

Humane Alternative
I (easily!*) modified this attachment to provide an exit back into "the wild" instead of drowning them. Naturally, it is necessary to find and eliminate all points of entry, but one should do that anyway. Last year we were plagued by mice. This year, using the trap and attachment, only one mouse evaded the trap for a few days. * (Simply unscrew the lid from the spring, pass the spring through a hole drilled in the sill plate, and screw the lid back on on the other side.)

VERY GOOD MOUSE TRAP HOUSE
We used to have this trap when I was a kid about 37 years ago. It worked great then and the new one works great now. We have purchased about 5 different types of trapps but after 4 weeks nothing they were a waist of money. I ordered this trap without any bait wound it up, put it in a corner. After 3 days bam, bam. It had caught 2 mice and we haven't seen anymore yet. I DON'T KNOW WHY MICE LIKE IT BUT THEY DO SO IF YOU NEED TO MOVE OUT YOUR PESTS. I SUGGEST BUYING A KETCH ALL THE NAME SAYS IT ALL.!!!!!!
