Works almost as well as a $50 crimping tool should, but better than the alternatives
At $50, this is an expensive tool to me. It is roughly twice the price of no-name alternatives. It's not like I'm making 100's of cables with it. I will probably make a dozen, but they will be of custom lengths for direct burial CAT6, PoE access points, as well as PoE cameras. At that rate, it adds about $4 to each cable I make with it vs $2. However, my time is also expensive to me too. With the right tool, the job of attaching connectors to the cable can go faster. I have used a non-pass through RJ45 tool to crimp cables in the past. Closed-end RJ45 crimping has several concurrent and frustrating challenges that must be balanced while crimping: 1. Getting the wire ordered properly and keeping it that way while also.... 2. cutting the wires to a flat end to go into the connector... 3. with the wires not too long so that the outer sheath won't get crimped to the connector... 4. nor too short that it won't reach the blade conductors at the end of the connector either... 5. without letting go of the 8 wires pinched flat to go into the connector... 6. otherwise the wires get out of order and/or their lengths are no longer even and fit correctly into the connector. Mess up any of the above, and one wastes the time taken and often a connector and some wire. Trying to identify which end is bad isn't easy. Sometimes one must guess and then one has a 50/50 chance of doing 2 ends again instead of just 1. One must have a first attempt success rate in attaching connectors correctly better than 1/2 the time or one won't be able to complete a cabling job. At best, that is a frustrating art for me. My wife has helped when I've run cable for church and she is more patient and nimble crimping closed end RJ45. However, it is a challenge for her as well. At times, we found ourselves hitting that 1/2 time success rate. Trying to get a cable done could seem to take forever. At that rate, $2 or $4 per cable seems worth it. I'm installing CAT 6 at home and knew that I should get a different tool to deal with crimping the thicker cables. I found the pass through connectors and crimping tools and realized it should make the task easier as points 2,3, and 4 are no longer concerns. The crimping time is cut so that point 5 is no longer as critical. The 6th point also is less critical because if the wires are out of order then it will be evident before crimping. Pull the wires out of the crimping tool and try again. I tried a no-name version of the same type of pass-through RJ45 crimping tool first. It was about 1/2 the price of this one. After being very disappointed with the performance, I figured I would spend the extra money to buy this name brand version of the same tool. This tool performed much better and is adequate to do the job. The one disappointment with this tool was it could not strip CAT 5e with the built in stripper. This was a problem with the other pass through tool I purchased before buying this one. I used a small plastic tool with a blade from my non-pass through kit to strip instead. I suspect the built in stripper will work for CAT 6 or 7 as those cables tend to be thicker, but have not tried it yet. Critical improvements in this tool vs the other pass through crimping tool: 1. The Klein tool cuts the pass through wires off at the end of the connector when crimping. The other tried, but couldn't. There was 1 wire in my test with the Klein tool that need a little tug to separate the waste wire insulation from what was in the connector after crimping, but that was all. The other tool required using a box knife as the blade on it did not make sufficient cuts to removed the excess with modest pulls. Not needing a cutting surface for the excess is not an absolute requirement, but it is important since the cable install location may not have such a surface. 2. The RJ45 connector can be easily removed after crimping. A small pull was all it needed. The other tool would not release the connector after crimping. I had to use a jeweler's flat head screw driver to depress the tab on the connector inside the crimping tool's receptacle so I could remove it. Note that the Klein tool held the RJ45 connector latched in too--if it weren't crimped. That's a feature and not a bug. It helps free a hand from holding the connector in place before crimping. Pulling it out before crimping isn't a normal thing to do so it isn't a problem. Being able to remove the connector easily is not an absolute requirement, but a cable install location may not be well lit to see the tab to pry. The length available at a PoE camera drop or WIFI access point may not be convenient to be messing around with a small screw driver over one's head as one tries to poke and prod a connector out of the crimping tool that is being held with the other hand. If one is going to be making a dozen custom cables or more, I recommend buying this product. For the pro and the amateur, it will likely be worth the efficiency gained compared to the alternatives.

OMG! ONE OF THE BEST TOOLS I HAVE EVER BOUGHT!
Making cat5e Ethernet cables is an absolute joy with this tool! My daughter insisted on using a wired connection from her gaming desktop to our router located two rooms away down a long hallway. I purchased 200 feet reel of cat5 cabling and tried using the harder method of stripping the end of the cables and needling each one of those very thin wires through the teeny holes in the plastic data plug connectors. It drove me absolutely insane causing me to rage quit the project. After some googling I discovered this Klein pass through stripper and crimper and I nearly cried. Without hesitation I ordered it from Amazon. The tool is extremely easy to use and is self contained with a cutter to trim your cable and a stripper to remove the rubber outer jacket with precision and ease. The tool itself has a color coded guide that tells you the order in which the tiny wires fit through the plastic connectors. Once you have them straightened out and in the proper order, they slide effortlessly into the connector and the Klein tool will crimp the connectors onto the end of the wires. Works PERFECTLY. I enjoyed it so much that I asked everyone in the family and some friend if they needed Ethernet cables. You can make your cables as long as you want them which is awesome when you're trying to minimize wires for a clean look behind your devices. I can't say enough about this tool. Get it. You won't regret it!!!

Excellent tool
I only needed it for a few cables, but it worked flawlessly. Did not have any problems with it not cutting off all the wires after crimping. The sheath stripper part was a bit fiddly to use though.

110% Reliability
Clean cut all the time especially when used with Klein tools pass through RJ45. Very quick and easy. I personally apply 3 presses but honestly just one firm press and you’re done! You might get the wires on the ends of the connector not cut fully if you are not using Klein tools RJ45 connectors. I have used the Cablecreation RJ45 pass through and the blade would not be able to cut the edge wires fully, they would be hanging on by a very small sleeve of insulation but just a little pull on it would remove it and it wouldn’t affect the reliability of the cable.

Worth every penny
While there are cheaper options of this tool available they are not anywhere near as good as this. Clean cuts, easy to use and the number of times I’ve dropped it without it breaking is a huge plus

Must have if you do multiple runs
Used many different tools in the past and sometimes had bad connections, with this tool every single crimp works 100%.

Works well with the Klien connectors... and what I needed it for
The tool fits my hand well and is fairly compact. Easy use with just one hand The jacket cutter/stripper works well and is easy to adjust The RJ45 Cutter/crimper is easy to compress and cuts cleaning out of the box Overall I like the tool. My only nit is about the placement of the stripper/cutter if you are using both cutting and crimping on the same connection/cable, and if I did volume work (+100 ends a day), I'd likely look at other systems/tools. For my project, I have used it for connecting Klien CAT6 RJ-45s (50) and stripping the end of ~200 cables to be punched down over a few weeks, so this was not a significant issue.

A must have for pass through RJ-45 connectors
I tried to use an older crimper to make some gigabit ethernet cables with some old ends. That was absolutely the worst idea. It was frustrating. I gave up and ordered pass through ends and tried my old crimper. That didn't work well becuase the ends were not getting cut off. I ordered this crimper and my life became immediately better. With the pass through connectors I was able to terminate a cable in about five minutes. With this connector I was able to have the perfect crimp and cut of the ends. It was worth the money!

Wiring CAT6 23 AWG
Ordered Saturday, Arrived Sunday. I had trouble getting a CAT6 cable individual ends into a normal RJ45 Plug. Possibly due to the small working area between the sheath end and the ends of the wires using the thicker 23 AWG. Thought I would try out the Pass-Thru plugs. So ordered the Klein Plugs and this Klein Crimper tool. Must mention that I am happy wiring Cat5 and Cat5e using normal plugs. My problems arose with the CAT6 cable. Perhaps, I suspect, because my CAT6 cable is 23 AWG, and by the way it also has a central Twisted Pair separator inner running through the cable. Anyway when it arrived I straight away dived into plugging my CAT6 cable. I had read the reviews regarding being unable to wire the thicker AWG cable so had that in mind when setting things up. Eventually, after about 40 minutes of faffing about trying different things and perhaps reducing the length of my cable by about a foot I plumbed for forgetting about the 1and 1/2 inch or 2 inch measurements from the end of the sheath to the wire ends and went for 4 inches approx which meant I could work on the wire ends only and not worry about the sheath end after I realised I could just pull them through when I had them in the proper order and they were passed-through the plug. The wire ends, or wire tips, have to be jammed tight close to each other, no daylight between the wires going into the plug and then slowly passed into the plug. Once you have jiggled a little bit and they look in order, with no wire having jumped on top of another, etc. Then you can push more firmly to get the wires engaged into their proper channels. Re-check again, as best you can. Then push more firmly and positively and they will go through. Then I pull on all the wires which are through and feed and work the sheath into the plug, it does go in, past the crimp position. Once through and happy they are in the correct colour order I then pull each pair, by original colour twist order, then pull on each wire individually with a small pair of pliers, just to take up any slack on the wires inside the plug between the sheath and the wire ends. Re-push sheath to ensure still fully in position. The second plug was done in about 15 minutes. I concentrated on the wire ends and working them constantly to get them very close together before even attempting to try to put them into the plug. Tip - Re-cut if the wires ends are not all in line with each other. I fully expect to get this time down the more I use these plugs. By the way once I had the actual wires through in correct order it was so easy to use and crimped perfectly and also cut the wire ends off the plug. Nice job. Will be using Pass-Thru for CAT6 and thicker cabling without a shadow of doubt. Negative is the wire stripper, waste of time. Too bulky a tool to maintain constant pressure for a sheath cut and turn the tool around the cable, tool is too bulky for that. Use a separate sheath cutter. This review is mainly about the pass-through plugs I suppose but that is where the pain is in wiring CAT6 23 AWG. You would still have that pain and more with normal plugs. But pass-through plugs helps immensely by giving you more wire to work with. The Crimp tool works fine, does the crimping part very well. Not tested on any other type of pass-through plugs. Only done 2 RJ45 plugs - but very pleased with this pass-through system (mainly because I have never, ever, managed to get my CAT6 23 AWG cable into any normal Cat 6 RJ45 plug successfully - amateur, I know)

Perfect!
Having wasted nearly as much money as this single tool cost on two cheaper 'kits' I can say that I would have been better going for this quality item from the outset. This is a really nicely built tool that feels like a quality item as soon as you start using it. The cable stripper actually just strips the outer sheath (without cutting conductors), there is a handy - and readable - wiring colour chart right on the jaws and it makes perfect crimps every time. It's tempting to be drawn in by the cheaper kits but, in my experience, you will end up throwing away a lot of time - and badly made connectors. When you've spent a day running a CAT6 cable through walls and floors and all that stands between you and a reliable connection is the crimping tool then you'll be thankful you got this one - and not the cheaper one, which results in an ever-shortening cable (as you cut of numerous bad connectors - just hoping the next will be good). If you really need the other extras these kits include - such as a tester or punch-down tool - then these can be bought relatively cheaply. You really do get what you pay for and, with this tool, the cost feels totally justified. Team it up with some quality pass-through connectors and save yourself a ton of time - and probably money - over the 'cheaper' option.

Brilliant
Klein tools are amazing and I would thoroughly recommend paying the little extra for this over any of the other cheap crimpers on Amazon. Perfect crimps every time with Cat5e and Cat6. Never misses a cut when removing the passthrough excess and all blades show no signs of wear

Expensive, but far better quality than cheaper alternatives
Expensive, but far better quality than cheaper alternatives. Absolute beginner here but worked exactly as it should on first use by a novice!

Works first time, every time
A few years ago I bought a cheap crimping set to run some cat6 across the house. It must have taken about 30 attempts to terminate each end of the cable. Since moving house I again found myself needing to run cat6 cable through floors and ceilings. I didn't have the patience this time to mess about. This cost a lot more than I'd have liked to have spent but it's there for when I need it next. Reading another review I also bought 10 Klein plugs from Amazon. They were silly money too but they worked exactly as required. This tool made it very easy to make cables and the diagrams printed on the tool are a handy reference too. Each cable I have made using this tool with the klein plugs have made a perfect connection first time. I was using 24awg solid cat6 cable. Having tested the cables they do facilitate 1gbps speeds. No complaints!
