It’s not up to old Klein Tools standards, but it’s a quality product that works well.

I have many Klein Tools. Love the quality. That’s why I paid $50 for this combination instant read probe & IR thermometer. It’s works very well. Did not need temp adjustment as it’s right on temp. We all fry stuff with oil too hot. You shouldn’t be over 400, and not under 350. If your oil is smoking, it’s too hot or wrong oil! It’s hard to know on even a good stove or grill. I guess if you have induction burners you can keep oil temp at or below 400F. Anyway most need this tool to know for sure. One nitpicking fact tho. It’s left handed! Yes if you use your right hand to measure temp either probe or IR the display will be upside down. I am VERY right handed, thus uncoordinated left, so I find that annoying. You’d think Klein engineers would have programmed a setting where you can change that readout. My Thermapen MK4 screen rotates as you move it. Idea for a revision “B” Klein Tools engineers (no charge)

Small size, large display.

The retractable probe is great. Makes this unit more than a just an infrared thermometer. The unit is easy to use and the laser pointer makes it simple to know where you are pointing the unit. The Klien name reflects the quality of construction. Purchased this one "used" for a discounted price. Only box and instructions missing, but unit easy to use and carrying case had new batteries inside. Manual available online. Use it for kitchen and helps with correct temperature of pans for grilling or baking.

Worked for me!

Quick and easy. I read griddle temp, hot oil temp. Some say these aren't perfectly accurate. I don't really care if it is off a few degrees.

Suitability Depends on How You Use It

My primary intent was to buy this for a kitchen thermometer. I have been using it in the kitchen and found that it is heavy-duty, uses standard AAA batteries, and is easy to use. Those features are nice, but I wasn't prepared for how slowly it settles on a temperature reading. My old kitchen-only thermometer would give me a reading in about 2-3 seconds, and this one probably takes 5-6 seconds to settle in some cases. My secondary intent was to use the IR function for various other jobs around the house. I have found that to work well, and I don't have any complaints about that aspect.

The Best IR/Probe Thermometer Tool Ever

Klein Tools IR07 Dual IR/Probe Thermometer is the best tool I have ever used and an everyday carry for me and should be part of every HVAC Technicians tool collection. Superfast, accurate readout makes taking Delta Temp’s a breeze. Both IR and Probe uses makes it very versatile in taking temperature measurements anywhere. Put the probe in a Supply, Return or Ductwork and get a reading. Use it to verify a Thermostat, use it to measure temperature in vents to high to reach. This tool gets the job done. Large easy to read and backlit readout sets it apart from the others, even the other Klein Tools temperature probes that I have used. Fastest response time to read temperature I have seen. I’ve used it in many different situations and it never fails to deliver. I highly recommend this tool. Add it to your tool collection, you will not be sorry.
