Perfect design, decent build.

Good hole saw set. The case seems very durable and it nicely organizes all three sizes of hole saw with an additional slot for a spare pilot bit. As for the hole saws themselves, they’re brilliantly designed. I love, love, love the ejection spring built into the pilot bit. It lets me go straight from drilling one hole to the next without missing a beat. These also have a stopper, or flange, built in to prevent accidental over drilling. It seems Klein thought of everything when they designed this. The only real problem I’ve had so far is that I thought the 1-1/8” hole saw (3/4” trade size) died prematurely. The carbide teeth were breaking after only moderate use, and I do try to be as gentle as possible to preserve tool life. I picked up a replacement from the Home Depot, and it’s been going fine so far. If you’re someone who works with a 12V drill handy, that will most likely solve this issue. The convenience of this set up is hard to beat. I also have Klein’s knock out ratchet set, which I think is more durable and lets me do better work. Still, for this quality at less than 1/3rd of the price, you can’t go wrong.

Worth it

Great hole cutter. Excellent sharpness. I have already cut a few hundred holes with both the 3/4 and the 1/2 cutters. Still razor sharp. I do recommend using a few drops of cutting oil as needed. Only con is the shavings and the plug.

Turns metallic Boxes into soft butter

My first use was on an intermatic low voltage transformer that actually has knockouts but they are a pain to knock out especially if you’re going for the half not 3/4 and really not trying to reducer every time. Cut through like butter smooth no grabbing like a step bit or travel off center like a step bit. Very happy i got this set! I would recommend 100%

Good

These are an invaluable tool if you often drill stainless steel or other hard metals. I have found cheaper, no name brand carbide hole cutters on eBay that work every bit as well as these for waaaay less money though. I will never buy the big name brands again.

Very handy

This type of product works very nice and with the spring pushing the slug out after nice. Just can not use on any angle, must be straight on. I broke two of the bits and had to buy replacements. It does come with a spare. Very nice set and cuts well for electrical boxes/panels. So main limitation is must be straight into your surface, which may not always happen.

Metal Hole Cut tools

Nice set of hole cut saws for metal. Hard to find a reasonable set of these in various sizes without going to really expensive tool sets. On the once or twice need kind of thing. These work well for what they are.

perfect if you on a budget but not the best.

it cuts well, havent tested on stainless steel tho... a little concerned...I've had for two days ...using on regular gutter boxes done about 20 holes, and the cut well no issue.... how ever if you dont keep completely straight while drilling the drill bit will break already went threw two. But with some practice I seem to have gotten it down over all I would recommend if your on a budget.

Not hard at all

Set comes with 3 hole saws and one spare bit that pilots in the centre. I broke one bit the first time I used the hole saws on some mild steel, 4mm thick. Then I’ve used all three of them maybe 2/3 times since. In that time, the middle one has shattered or chipped every single one of its cutting edges, you’d think these were made of glass.

Excellent when used properly!!!!!

Buy 7/32 drill rod and make your own pilot bits! 1-7/8 long. This will prevent the pilot from walking inside the hole and snapping off. You should be drilling your holes out first and starting your carbides flush to the metal with cutting oil in LOW SPEED. When used properly by a tradesman these carbides are excellent. Its not the bad product its the BAD TRADESMAN!

Garbage!!!

Garbage!!! I cut 4 holes over the course of a day, kept stopping so the bit would not get too hot to touch. it disintegrated on the 5th hole. I had an Ideal bit and it lasted almost a year and cut hundreds of holes. it wasn't until I loaned it out that the Ideal bit was dulled, it remained in tact as this one did not.

I recommend anyone in a trade get this if they work with or around steel studs. very good tool just take care of it by keeping it oiled up with cutting oil.

Will not stand up

Will not stand up, lasted one day before the carbides broke off and also a pilot bit, I have had a set of the Ideal brand for three years and are still in good shape and have not broken and thing.
