Love almost everything about

Flow,size,connections,primer,media compacity,ect. All great my only gripe is that the Uv light should have a timer but considering the price it’s not at all a deal breaker and there is a on and switch (trays last much longer if the uv isn’t always on)

Supper aquarium filter

Performance and price, just can't beat it! Recommended

I am no expert! Just other guy like fish! I am running this SunSun right next to my Eheim 2075 pro 3 which I got it from a local aquarium about 7 months. Here is what I think of both side by side. By the way. This 304B comes with 4 media baskets not 3 shows on the picture. Price: SunSun is only 1/3 of the cost Material: SunSun use some type of soft plastic all around, all of parts can be blended. Eleim are use hard plastic, which build with better durable materials. Water flow: SunSun has better water flow than Eheim. SunSun rated 575 gph and Eleim rated 330 gph. Noise: The noise level from SunSun is acceptable, but still notable if you wants to hear it. But Eheim has less noise compare to sun sun. Media baskets and medias: SunSun does not comes with any media in the box. However the seller does included some basic media and pads with no extra cost. SunSun baskets are much bigger than Ehiem which mean can hold more media. Place of origin: SunSun / China, Ehiem / German. Easy to use: - SunSun set up is simple and easy. But there is very limit print information walk through how to setup. With experience people that is no problem. But for newbie, youtube is your friend! - Built in On / Off switch for the 9W UV light, also had a small indication is on or off. - The hose is 1 inch size. Ehiem use 3/4. - SunSun media baskets also make from soft plastic. Which Eleim use slimier plastic! However. Eheim has better design form stacking. I do need extra time to be sure I put them in the right way and level. Again these baskets are bigger than the Ehiem 2075 - SunSun basket has no indication when is full. Ehiem and many other use transparency basket so the water level can be very easy to view. So far, I like the SunSun 304B with the performance and price, just can't beat it! Give it 6 months, will see anything change. At the end, don't expect paid for the Hyundai price for a Mercedes. But Mercedes not always better than Hyundai. Update after 7 months The canister is still stay quiet, smooth and have very strong water flow. I have perform complete cleaning 3x since new. No leaking or any problems. Completely bang for the buck from this guy. I am sure I will recommended to my friends! Change from 4 stars to 5 stars 20 months, working perfect as day one! getting other one for my planted tank soon To be honest, this HW308B is out performance Ehiem Pro 3. I have the Sun Sun for over 26 months. Every time i have to clean the Ehiem and wants to replace with the another sun sun. After 2.5 years of use. on last filter cleaning, I found a small piece of black plastic falls out. and I can't find anywhere to put it back. so I design to skip that after cleaning. however, it start to leak. I try different ways to fix it, but leak still happen, it looks like the water is over flow to the limit and start coming out, I think is something to do with that small piece of black plastic which I don't know how to put it back. SO I call it DONE. Just place an order for same one to replace it. for the price it worth to use it again!

After 5 years of running... Great filter for the money, you need to be aware of a few things

SO! I've been running this Sun Sun HW-304B since Nov 2015, and I just replaced it. I'd say by any stretch 5 years for under $100 is a great deal, with *mostly* trouble free operation. So the things you should be aware of: Leaking - I haven't had sealing problems until now, so 5 years out of the original o-ring. . The leaking was only happening when the filter was not running, or cavitating. The replacement of course never leaks. UV - I DON"T recommend running the UV... as non of the plastic is UV stable. The canister itself is brown where it was exposed at the bottom, and the stacked baskets disintegrated where they were closest (see pictures of normal and after use). I likely only ran the UV 2 out of the 5 years... to me though this is a minor feature loss, I've never needed UV in a freshwater tropical tank, only some salts and ponds. Loss of suction - really it's air buildup/cavitation at the impeller. The little skimmer attachment joint *will* suck enough air if it isn't submerged to cause this to happen on a somewhat regular basis. You can address that any number of ways, not a dealbreaker. All in all, I think it's a 4 star filter. I've been a hobbyist and worked fish departments for 30+ years now, and I tend to like practical over flash. This filter is just that, good bang for the buck, one of the key features is a total fail (but I don't care about it at all). I would recommend adding your own media, although the included stuff is just fine if you don't want to complicate things, they just skimp a little on portions of bio media. Crystal Clear tank!

Having had a Sun Sun canister in the past, I wanted one for my 75 gallon tank. My previous model was smaller and whisper quiet. I wish I could say this one was as well. It really moves the water in my tank. It keeps everything clear as glass. The way it is setup is perfect for cleaning and maintaining. If I do decide to change to another brand it would be because of the noise level. But I would still highly recommend this filter. Maybe mine has an issue I haven’t found yet.

Good filter, missing parts listed and from photos in product description

1st filter delivered missing all media and filter pads as well as the intake tube with surface skimmer shown in the description (see photo #1 from Amazon website). It has a straight solid intake tube photo #2. Amazon sent me a complete replacement within a few days. 2nd delivered filter has all the media and filter pads, but the intake is still a solid straight intake with NO surface skimmer as shown in the photo. The filter itself seems to be quality made. I put it on my 75 gallon aquarium and so far so good. Easy to prime, just fill 3/4 full with water before putting the top on, attach the hoses, give it a few pushes on priming button, plug it in, give a small shake, all the bubbles came out. Lots of water flow ( I do wish it had an adjustment of some kind, although my guppies, tetras, cory's and plants (photo #3) don't seem to mind the strong flow) and it runs very quite. I only gave it 4 out of 5 on easy to clean because it is very heavy (for me) without any handles or grips to lift it into and out from under my stand when any maintenance is needed. Included instructions are very vague, (I'm glad I already knew the basics of how to set it up) They also don't give any email or website address (that works) I will try service phone number, (I hope they speak english), to contact the manufacturer to ask for missing parts. I don't feel it is Amazon's fault that everything isn't in the box to start with. If this filter continues to work long term then it is a very good value for the money. I will update if anything changes.

dissapointing

Set up as per instructions. Turned on and smoke filled my lounge room. Requested a refund and great service from Amazon but I don't have the time to return and wait for a new unit. Fitted an external pump and unit leaked all through my house. Amazon has always been awesome but this product has hurt my belief in this product.

J’avais un gros doute au vu des commentaires mais franchement elle fait parfaitement le travail !! Dans un 400l elle filtre tes bien et l’eau est tjs propre. Elle est dans mon salon et je l’entend pas du tout. J’entends plus le bruit de l’eau qui coule quand mon niveau est trop bas lol
