Punches like it should
Does exactly as it should, letters are great sized for engraving on Keys or other items all punches feel sturdy and took a beating when I used them no deforming, recommend having something hold down what ever you are punching so it doesn't slip away during the process.

works on steel with vise or press; mediocre without
At first I was disappointed trying to imprint metal door keys with these letter stamps using a hammer to drive the stamp into the key. I am experienced with tools but, due to the hardness of metal used in many keys, this hammer method produced inconsistent results with the imprint sometimes too light (not a deep enough impression to be legible) or other times the stamp moved slightly between hammer strikes which made the impression less clean. For me, they aren’t worth using this way. But as soon as I tried a shop vise to slowly squeeze the letter stamps into the keys, I was able to get good and consistent results with little effort. Although I didn’t try an arbor press or shop press specifically with these letter stamps, I assume those devices would also produce good results using the same principle. The idea is to make a slow and controlled press rather than a sudden strike. Separately, the letters are a little small and slightly frustrating to read even when pressed cleanly, but in my case the small size was required to fit the tiny target on the keys I was marking. If the object you are marking is larger, consider choosing the larger size stamp letters. So overall if you want to mark hard metal like steel, then I would suggest buying these only if you have a vise or press (don’t bother trying with a hammer). Maybe if you want to mark wood or perhaps soft metal like copper, you might be able to use a hammer with success — but I didn’t test those.

They work but honestly are pointless for most people
First of all, these work. They do mark leather, wood, metal etc. But they are hard to line up; and without a guide, you will have letters all wonky. So save yourself the pain and hassle and money; and just find some pricy metal stamps that has a guide that you slide the letters into. They have them at many leather retail websites and maybe even etsy; I am sure maybe on amazon too

Stamps are okay, box is junk
I've used these stamps a few times for pottery. Within the second time closing the box, I noticed the latch doesn't stay snapped it. It's extremely thin and flimsy. So the box doesn't securely stay shut since the first day. I've had them for about 2 weeks now and I've also noticed a split in the wood on the back of the box. basically, the box is poor quality pine that hasn't been properly dried prior to constructing into a box. Regarding the important part of this item, the letters... Most of the letters work well, some of them are harder to get a nice print on and the 'Y' is a crooked (slanting to the right). Some letters that have issues making clean deep imprints (that' I've noticed so far) comparably to other letters are 'A', 'B', and 'K'. They do work under optimal circumstances. Not a deal breaker, but it would have also been nice if they had an imprint of the letters on top. Not only if you accidentally put the wrong stamp in the wrong slot, but you can also see which side is up right before you stamp. All in all, for the money, it's a really good deal. I haven't used it on metal, but it does work well for pottery / clay. If I find giant washers, I'll try to make dog tags in the future!

Decent set of stamps
So far used to stamp mild steel only. It seems they could be sharper to stamp more clearly. I haven’t used them on hot metal yet but I satisfied with my purchase

Wrong size
There feel like a really solid stamping tools however the letters were to big for my needs so I had to send it back, good value for money.

Great set of punches
Very well packaged, and arrived a day earlier than expected. All present and correct, give a nice crisp stamp in mild steel, haven't tried anything else.

Seems okay so far
I have used on mild steel and have stood up to this use so will definitely be good for softer materials.
