Worked for two months and no more

Well the product worked for maybe two months then No Mas! It is installed right, it was great while it worked. I changed the batteries and i reprogrammed it. I bought a new dog fob and batteries for that and I cant seem to get it to work again. Super disappointed as this is caulked into my wall.

Better alternative to the ones you’ve probably replaced several times

Easy install if you are good with varying saws / tools. It isn’t ridiculously better at temperature regulating . Not much more than the brand we’ve all probably replaced from the big pet store . But it is chunkier and sturdier than the aforementioned brands.

Good Buy

This door has been a godsend in my household of two indoor-outdoor dogs and two indoor housecats. Our animals had been used to coming and going into our backyard through a standard pet door. However, after we moved into town with traffic, we didn't want our two cats outdoors. This electronic door has worked really well allowing only our dogs with the "keys" on their collars to go out. The cats tried for days to get out through the doors, scratching, pawing, and ramming the door, but they finally gave up. They must have thought the dogs knew some magical code to Open Sesame. We did not have a door that would allow us to insert the doggy door so our contractor cut a hole through the exterior wall next to our French doors. We used the door plus the wall install kit. Everything fit perfectly. The "key," a bell-shaped plastic unit with a circular base that holds the battery and screws into place is a bit bulky for our small dogs. The metal loop that comes with the unit is too light and bendable. One of our dogs lost the key in the grass, and we had to order another one at a cost of almost $20. I like that we can set the door to automatic use with the keys, to always open, or to locked. So far, we are very pleased with this electronic doggy door.

Great solution

The media could not be loaded. Our backyard is downstairs, so going up & down the stairs several times a day needed a solution. This is a great solution. It opens when they are near it & seals when they are not. It has the option to lock if you need to. However, we have a fence & not worried about tagalongs. It allows us to be gone for longer periods & not worry about coming back to let them out. Totally recommend.

Really great idea- very poorly executed.

I'm not even sure where to start. The tag that goes on the collar is way too heavy. It's kind of alright for my bigger dog, but no way would my Jack Russell mix be able to wear it. The back of the tag falls off, I had to duct tape it on. The battery that came with the tag was dead, which made programming a real head scratcher until I figured out the problem. You also have to buy a new back and battery each time from the company, it's not a battery you can get at a store. The door itself is VERY loud. If you have a dog that goes in and out and in again it's pretty much whirring all night long. I couldn't get the sensitivity right- it was either opening every time a dog moved anywhere close, or the dog was standing at the door waiting for it to open. If you have a dog that tries to fly through it, it would probably be pretty dangerous for him. The door flap itself is very hard plastic, and every time the dog goes through it swings back and forth heavily probably at least 8 times, it's super loud and scary for the smaller one. I bought the door to keep the cat in and the dog out, but there is a 10 second lag before the door closes, plenty of time for kitty to escape, and it doesn't actually lock unless the dog walks away, so my dog walks outside, stands on the deck for 5 minutes and it's unlocked the whole time. It's such a great idea but so poorly made. I wish I could return it- but since I cut a big hole in the wall to install it, I would have to hire someone to take it out and patch it up, so I guess I'm just stuck with it for life. The only good thing about this product is that since it is hard plastic and has a decent seal it will do a much better job at keeping the cold air out then my last dog door did, and since it's so hard to push open and the swinging door is pretty scary, so far my cat hasn't tried it.

This Will Make Your Life Easier

We have two dogs that used to have accidents in the house. Since getting this dog door we have enjoyed an accident free home. Installation was a breeze (we also used the extension kit - make sure you read dimension requirements and measure your wall carefully) and the dogs got used to using the door within one week. Now it's like having two kids who can't make up their minds to stay in or go outside. Also, warn your postman, UPS and FedEx guy when you install the door. It kind of freaks them out when the dogs come bursting through the wall. This door appears to be well made and snaps shut with authority. You can lock the door, let it free swing (it still snaps shut but dogs push it open with their noses) or put it on magnetic lock and it will only open when dog, wearing a magnetic fob on its collar, gets close to door and pushes it (door remains locked until dog gets close). This door seats tightly and has never blown open from wind or allowed rain or dust to enter. I HIGHLY recommend this door.

An Annoying Necessity

Pros: it arrived super quick, like the next day, way earlier than expected. I was super pleased. Fairly easy to install I’ve heard but only if you’ve installed a door before. I had not so it took a few additional cuts to get things evened out. Cons: it’s annoying that we even had to buy an extension lol. I saw there’s yet another extension if your wall is thicker than normal. These pieces should come together with the original packaging. I paid for a few inches of cheap plastic lol.
