Chrome Shower Head Escutcheon

I like this slightly oversized escutcheon for a bathroom remodel; escutcheon for the chrome shower head. Cover a rather ugly oversize hole in the drywall, which is the good news, along with the step design which gives it some visual character over the flat escutcheons. Heavy weight brass, with a polished chrome finish. Dropped one star because the shower nipple would not fit the hole. Had to break out the round file and open up the hole so that everything fit. No issue with appearance, just would have been nice if it fit the first time.

Be aware: You might have to grind out the hole to make it fit.

I originally bought and returned the Kingston Brass FLEURO1 heavy duty Nuvofusion Esuctcheon version of this one. It would not fit my unremovable 30 year old standard US shower arm and grinding out the middle hole to make it fit at a 1/4 inch thick solid brass was going to be a no go with a Dremel. So looking around I found the reviewers were able to grind this Kingston Brass FLCLASSIC1 Escutcheon which is thin enough to accomplish. Even though it has more of an art deco design than the FLEURO1, I took my chances and ordered. Reviewers were correct, even though it again did not fit, I was able to grind out the hole enough to slide it on. It is well made, heavy chrome finish, even for being thinner. 1 star off only because of it not fitting my standard shower arm.

If it doesn’t go on

This was the best one to cover all of the hole for the shower arm. But it was a hair too small to go on. Easily made to fit with a dremel with a flapwheel attachment that can fit into the hole when in use (sanding all the inside perimeter at the same time). Secure the cover. Remove the plastic/rubber piece. It gets hot. Also check fit often. It doesnt take much to make the hole larger.

Good but could be great

I really like the apparent quality of this escutheon but, unless I misunderstand their site, this is a one size/fits all type that the manufacturer wants you to cut the hole wider for fitting up to and inch and a quarter pipe like your sink drain. Even for 1/2" copper, it wouldn't fit over the pipe without cutting the hole slightly bigger which takes out the rubber gromet that suppose to snug around the pipe. So if they want to make this a 5 star, rating they will need to: make the product fit over the sized pipe its rated for WITHOUT having to drill a bigger hole; ie if its sold for a 1/2" pipe, you should be able to immediately slip it onto a 1/2" size copper pipe right out of the box. And have escutheons for 1/2", 3/4", 1" & 1 1/4" sized copper pipes.

The reviewers were correct...the hole of this escutcheon is way too small. I used a Dremmel round file bit and it fit perfectly. It’s really hard to find a nice looking escutcheon so I’m glad I took the risk, read the reviews and purchased it because it works for me. I’d give it 5 stars if it weren’t for having to enlarge the hole.

Larger than standard escutcheons, which was perfect

I did have to snip the inner ring so it would fit over my standard showerhead pipe, but the larger size was great to hide the caulking repair I had to do around the pipe. Very pretty, modern design.

The center hole is too small

As others noted, the center hole is way too small for a proper fit over the shower pipe extension. As other noted I enlarged the hole to fit and the rubber washer still fit well. This would be a 5-star product if the center hole was the proper diameter.
