Kinda flimsy but nothing broken!!
The media could not be loaded. Very good! I haven’t cleaned it yet but it looks like it would be easy since it quite cheaply made. The pan (green part) is plastic and your animal might chew through it but it shouldn’t do that :) it’s pretty easy to assemble but for some reason didn’t come with instructions :( it’s very easy to assemble anyways. It also does hold a lot of bedding! I’ll update when I get the hamster but for now I rate it a 9/10!

Decent Cage For the Money
I bought this as a second "run around" cage for my 4 female rats for when I'm doing any major cleaning or redecorating on their big Double Critter Nation cage, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. But I do want them to be comfortable if they need to be in there for an hour or so. The bar spacing isn't ideal for any long term use for female rats as I believe they could squeeze through the 1" spacing. But mine won't be unsupervised so I think it'll be fine for my use. Putting it together was easy with the exception of the clips that are supposed to secure the base to the cage. No matter what I tried, I could not get them to go in properly. So I'll use zip ties instead to secure the base to the cage and that should work fine. Even for the money, it's a shame that Kaytee doesn't give you proper clips to work with. Plus, you really need more than two. Also, there may need to be a modification done on the door as well since it pops open really easy. As it is now, any of my rats just standing up against the door will easily cause it to open. It is a decent cage for the money, but as other reviewers and I have said, it may need modifications to make it habitable and secure.

Great GP cage
This is easy to assemble and a good size for a single, senior guinea pig. Most piggies will need more space than this.. ours is a senior who doesn’t move around as much outside of floor time.

Bright Lime Green!
This is the second Kaytee “My First Home Cage” that we’ve bought. The first was the dark forrest green color that you see pictured on the box. The second cage came in the same type of box (having a dark forrest green cage picture on its outside) but inside was a bright, retina burning, fluorescent green cage. Surprise! We really didn’t want the cage to stand out visually so much from across the room. We considered returning it, but we ultimately decided it was too much trouble to send it back. Manufacturers, please don’t show one color on the box (and your advertisement pictures) and then enclose a drastically color cage within the box! Color aside though, this is a well built cage that will last years. Definitely make sure your guinea pig gets out and gets plenty of exercise several times a day since it’s a relatively small space. Update: I see they’ve finally changed the color on the cage box and on the Amazon website to more closely approximate the actual bright green color of the cage. Good to see it updated.

OK, but quite small even for a hedgehog
It's ok for the price since I got it on sale here. Been using it for my hedgehog. I don't like that it doesn't have an opening at the top, and the front opening is not wide enough for the giant comfort wheel. So I have to remove the top of the cage whenever I have to clean the wheel (daily). It is smaller than I thought. The 105 qt sterilite bin that I was using previously has slightly more room, but I switched to this because it will be easier to heat w/ a space heater in the winter. With the kaytee tree trunk hideout, a fleece pouch, wheel and two tiny bowls for food and water, there is probably only a foot/foot and a half of space left for my hedgehog to walk. I am thinking of upgrading to a bigger cage soon.

Great Serama Chicken cages.
I wish I could get more of these at the price I got the originals. Unfortunately the price now is almost double. They work great for my purposes.

Just what Gizmo needed!
I bought this for my mom since she has a guinea pig that outgrew his baby home. She loves her pets and had been contemplating getting a new home for him since his was too small for him now. I took it upon myself to get it for her little Gizmo as a Christmas gift. I had previously ordered another cage which did not get to me. It just said that they would email me when they shipped it. I waited two months and did not get it. Needless to say I canceled that ordered and started my search for Gizmo's new home and found it here. A day or two after I ordered it it was on it's way to us. Shipped it right on time and arrived before schedule. Gizmo and my mom loved it. He ran like crazy and jumped for joy when he was finally in his new home. It is very spacious and just great for him. Speedy delivery, it was just as described and its new resident is happy with it. LOVING IT!

Not for Guinea Pigs, Okay for Rats with Modifications
I cannot recommend the cage as-is, especially for guinea pigs. Guinea pigs need a lot of space to run around in and this cage does not provide that. We bought this as a travel cage for two male rats (bar spacing too far apart for females or young males). With modifications like a shelf and ramp, however, it is perfectly serviceable and a great size for two rats. I knew when purchasing this cage that it didn’t come with a shelf, so that is not a negative point in the review, simply a negative overall for the product. Luckily, SuperPet/Kaytee 17" shelves fit perfectly and we have several from our larger cage. The metal clasps that hold the cage onto the base seem too loose and as if they won't hold the base at all, but we had no problem whatsoever and we maneuvered the cage in and out of hotel rooms and the car far too many times.
