I have been wanting this quilt template for awhile now. Finally ordered it now that I am retired and have more time. Well made, easy to use and the instructions are easy and clear to follow.

Looked easy to use, but looks can be deceiving
I saw the video tutorial before purchasing this ruler. It looked so easy to do. I didn't want to do the shabby chic look with raw edges, but I wanted to stitch with a decorative stitch instead. Figured that would be easy enough to stitch. I made a small sample of 3 circles by 4 circles, so 12 circles in all. Cutting and marking wasn't difficult. I sewed 2 circles together and followed the rest of the instructions, but when I went to place my center square and thin batting in the center (I was using all quilting cotton), the center square was too large for the circle edges to fold over the square neatly. I still forged ahead and stitched it all in place. Where the corners meet on all the blocks it sure did look shabby, even though I was NOT wanting a shabby look, but a neat look! My stitching on the rest looked so nice, but not where the corners meet. This is where this method falls flat. When placing a 5" square into a 7" circle, it did not fit well. So I decided to try again and this time I decided to try a few different things. First, I cut the fabric and batting square about 1/8" smaller so it would fit better (similar to cutting your lining in a bag smaller for a better fit). Secondly, I fused fusible web on the back of the center square and fused this to the batting to help hold those in place. I fused the circles also with fusible web, so that the other side of the batting would stay in place and after sewing the circles all together, when I pressed the folded over circle pieces that I could line them up and fuse them in place to make stitching them easier and hopefully so they would look better. This time I tried making a 4-patch as a sample piece. Even though the corners looked nicer when I fused them this time, they still weren't perfect and I still wasn't pleased with the results. I can now see why they suggested to make this Shabby, so the unraveled edges would cover up the problems with using this ruler to make this quilt! I love all the other June Tailor rulers I have purchased in the past, but this one falls short. I like the look of the quilt that this ruler creates, but I think making Cathedral Windows the traditional way yields a much, much nicer result. While I will not be making any quilts with this ruler as instructed, I can still use the circle as a ruler for creating applique circles in making other quilts that I would be much happier and proud of. So at least it wasn't a total loss. I think the makers of this ruler and anyone making a tutorial on how to use this ruler really needs to address how to make the corners look good and neat if you are not making them Shabby looking. Without fusing fabrics in place, it also makes it more difficult to use and get things lined up nicely. You can add buttons to cover up where the interior corners meet, but the exterior corners are the ones that look the worst of all! Too bad, because this was a good idea in theory, just didn't live up to actually being able to make a nice looking quilt. Plus how in the world can anyone make a bed size quilt using this method? Much too hard to keep everything lined up properly and sewn neatly.

Great way to recycle old jeans!
Very easy to use and a great way to recycle old jeans! You can also use your rotary cutter too!

Sturdy! Versatile!
This is a good sturdy ruler, and versatile as it can also be used for circle patches for larger quilts by sewing two fabrics together, cutting a slit and turning them inside out. I watched some videos online and saw some other manufactures dies, and felt I could do the same thing with this one which was less expensive. You don’t necessarily have to use denim jeans, but it does make a good sturdy throw/lap quilt.

Pattern use seems limited
Pattern use seems limited and a little complicated. I’ll learn more once I start using it.
