Left side is inlet - this is not an L valve

There was some confusion in the questions here about how this valve works. I went ahead and bought the part to investigate. There is indeed an arrow on the bottom - it indicates the primary flow of water from inlet to outlet. The tee connector is the bypass (for a hot water system, anyway). The valve is not a ball with an L shape drilled into it; it's a plastic, somewhat-semicircular gate that switches between the outlet and bypass. Turning the handle to 45° will allow for a small leak from the inlet to both outlets. Rating this 4/5 due to plastic diverter - I don't see it aging well.

Works well.

Replaced a decade old, same make diverter valve that had an intermittent slow drip leak. Very easy repair because of the hand tighten connections and like for like replacement. Although it’s possible to replace the O-ring in the leaking valve, the new replacement is small cost and gave more cofindence the leak was solved. The new valve is smooth, easy to turn AND leak free.

Does not work properly

No matter how this valve is set it does not bypass as it should. Went to a hardware store and got something that works. This part is trash.

I don't care for the brass diverter valve

I prefer the Flair-It plastic. Easier to install. Doesn't need threaded fittings (hose clamps work fine). This is heavy and bulky but it will do the job too.

Equivalent to Camco Valve and perhaps better built

Original Camco Valve leaked in bypass position. This valve fits and operates the same and appears to be a ball valve rather than a rubber shoe type valve. Has worked just fine and is of very decent build quality.
