Perfect Replacement!
Exactly what I needed to repair my bilge pump and aerator. Such a comparatively easy repair solution.

4 stars because
So far it was a direct replacement to the johnson bildge pump. I think this is more geared towards livewell replacement because if your going to use this as a livewell and want your pump to kick on by switch aswell as float switch you would need a 3 wire pump. This is a 2 wire pump that can only work with ether a float switch or toggle switch. Why do you need both? Because sometimes the float switch fails and having both options is nice as a failsafe. We will see how this holds up. Pretty quiet and seems identical to the johnson.

The START of a beautiful relationSHIP!
One of the hardest parts(no pun intended) about this repair was eliminating several other possible causes of a 'no-start' condition on my boat. After determining that my problem was indeed the starter relay, the fun began with a thorough online search for a genuine part at the best price. IF you're like me, you dread buying marine parts, especially locally, since most local shops will charge you an arm, and a leg, or possibly more for a part. I would prefer to support my local shops, but it's just not the way my wallet prefers it! My search landed me here on eBay, ordering the starter relay at a very reasonable price, including free shipping! I was quite happy with my purchase.. I received the relay very quickly and it was exactly as ordered. More importantly, it was exactly identical to the old part! The second hardest part of my repair was actually installing the relay. It is buried within a maze of wiring and other components on what I'd call the 'motherboard' of the engine. But, with a little patience and common sense I was able to disconnect and remove enough of the maze to gain access to the old relay, disconnect the wiring and pull it free from it's rubber isolated mounted position. The new relay went in easily and I simply reinstalled everything in reverse order. The actual re-install took only about 20 minutes. My biggest nerve-wracking moment was when I went to turn the ignition key! I said a little prayer, vowed to eat right, lose some weight and maybe even promised to be present in church on Sunday. I think I actually had my fingers crossed, too. Whatever good deeds I may have done in the past I felt like I just got a payment back when I heard that incredible, awesome electrically charged click, buzz, whirrrrrr! YES! The motor was ALIVE! IT's ALIVE! So, I was a happy little camper. Did you ever notice you tend to whistle and grin a lot when you've tamed a beast? I was definitely whistling and grinning as I buttoned the old Johnson back up! (uh, I'm talking about the outboard!). Now, all I have to do is gather our fishing gear and head out for the high seas! Well, the low river, okay? All in all, this was a fun project with a happy ending, at a very fair cost!
