It works. Nothing to write home about...

I can't explain why in every advert for this item it shows TWO drifts/wedges, and the description is quite dodgy about it. There is only ONE piece, and it is marked "JT 1 & 2". In a review elsewhere, a user mentions this drift/wedge was ok for #1, but a bit small/loose for #2 taper. It is slightly longer than the HHIP #2 drift (which I also have that set), but with a lower angle taper that covers both the #1 and #2 range. The width is more like the width of the HHIP #1, whereas the HHIP #2 is made of thicker bar stock. So longer, similar to the HHIP #2, but made of thinner material, like the HHIP #1. Made in China. It worked fine for my purpose (Delta 17-968 D. Press). Not mentioned in this ad, but elsewhere it is described as "hardened and tempered". Hard to tell, as it is coated in black semi-gloss powder coat (paint?). Is the HHIP 4-piece set version a better deal? I bought both, and the HHIP set is going back due to very rough cuts on the angled edge on 3 of the 4 pieces, metal "splinters" similar in size to what you would get from cutting wood logs, let alone the time to grind and smooth the edges of that set. If you actually need all four sizes, have at it, enjoy the quality time with your grinder, and pass on this single drift/wedge. The Jacobs "name brand" drift/wedge is relatively smooth under the applied finish, and will not require any further "finishing" If you only need ONE drift for your ONE drill press that only uses ONE spindle and arbor taper size, then this should work fine. Or, for around the same price, you could also buy a U.S. made Union Butterfield version which is finished even nicer.

When I ordered the picture showed 2- #2 & #4- but I only received a #2.

Only One Drift Not Two

The photo shows two drifts but you are actually only buying one.

Just a heads up for all of you purchasers out there. You only get one drift not the two as in image that is shown. It does claim it is a true Jacobson drift though.
