Kickplate is great but does not come with screws

This is a high quality durable product, but it does not come with screws. Thus, it was difficult to find any that matched. Be warned. Save the ones you took out or hunt hard at HD or L for something close. Other than that, easy to install and as advertised.

Online order was only way to get this size

Front door plate needed replacing and my door was an unusual size for stores to carry Online order was easy, plate fit perfectly and Vendor was very attentive and made sure I was satisfied. Available if I had questions —unusual to get such excellent service.

Not Ives by Slage made in US , but labeled as Slage Hecho in Mexico

Had this product been properly advertised and contained proper instructions in English I would have given it 5 stars for both quality and value. As indicated in the above headline no mention of Ives a quality hardware supplier on the label. And the terse installation instructions account for problems listed in the lower reviews. Panel is sufficient heavy gauge in solid brass with sufficient mounting holes and brass screws to make a quality job. Screws are brass oval head self tappers and the plate has a definite front and back....held sideways to the light the front side holes have a slight countersink to partially accommodate the oval head.....installing it backwards will increase the chances of a dimple....a 5/64" bit instead of the recommended 1/16" makes for an easier install especially on the solid lower and side areas of a metal or polymer urethane core front door. Also no mention of removing the thin plastic skin - mine had a few surface scratches on the skin- which when removed exposes the unmarked mirror finish of the brass.

The product

I got is made by Schlage. The holes are pre-drilled and includes the mounting screws. Is not to thin or thick. The item is a pain to remove from its package and you will probably tear the cardboard in several areas. The sticky glue material was most of the reason for the problem of the package problem. Other then that got the kick plate out and found it to be in perfect shape. Don't over tighten the screws because it will leave dimples in the metal and after seeing some of my neighbors that put kick plates on themselves it makes a big difference in appearance. The kick plate came double boxed and in good condition. The size means a lot. If you have a 36 inch wide door do not get a kick plate the same width, two inches narrower gives the kick plate a better look and does not interfere with the weather stripping, also the height, I only could find was eight inches high. It would reach as high as the raised panel of the door and didn't look right. So finding the six inch kick plate made a difference. All in all the kick plate with matching door handles and a brass knocker gives the entrance door a more distinguished look.

Sturdy

Nice look, but be wary of vendor sending used items

Unfortunately, I had to return the 1st one as they sent a used one with marks and scratches. Do not accept anything like that. The replaced one was new with a cellophane covering on the brass that you remove after installation. It dresses up the door well and hopefully, the brass can be polished. The previous one on the door was brass-plated and could not be refinished.

Adequate For The Price

I bought this to replace one that had been on the door for probably 25 years. This new one is maybe half the thickness, and not quite the mirror-finish of the old one. Still, it looks nice on the door. I saw other kick plates for $100+, and maybe that's what you have to pay for the best quality ones these days. Just make sure due to the thinness not to screw it in too far as it will dent.

Great purchase!

We needed a new kick plate on our front door. We purchased the Schlage and installed it. All the screw holes lined up perfectly. It looks great!
