Quality product

I purchased nearly of dozen of these to replace the spring door stop version during a recent remodel. They installed easily by drilling a pilot hole in the baseboard and simply screwing them in. They are sturdy and have a quality look and feel. The satin nickel finish matches the other Schlage door handles and hinges. I would choose these again and am completely satisfied with the purchase. A word of warning though, we don't have young children any longer but I could see youngsters standing on them and stripping them out of the baseboard. One advantage of the spring door stops.

Screw attached in my opinion only was too large for the application and too long. They product would be better with a smaller sized screw to attach it to trim with. However, if you have a stripped hole from another door stop this screw is most likely large enough to get a good bite into the wood. Looks great installed.

Broke during installation

First, it was not the fault of the product, but I ended up not liking this as much as a spring type door stop. I bought this to replace a very similar one that was a coil or spring type, so it was flexible. This one is solid as mentioned. I knew that going in, but as soon as I held it in my hand I regretted it immediately. My doors are nice panel doors, and I felt this could easily puncture the door if my daughter leaned into it at all. In any case, I will never know. I was installing it by hand into the base board when the screw part simply stripped off and got stuck in the wall. I have had that happen to a screw before when using a power drill, when basically the power drill just screws the head of the screw off of the body. That is what happened here...only I was turning it by hand, into an existing hole! I did not feel any real resistance, so it is possible this was already damaged, or just defective. I found some oil rubbed bronze colored ones with the spring flexibility at home depot for $.99 each, so I will be going with those instead. On that note, this Schlage is rather expensive too...

Top of the range, moderately priced white tipped silver/nickel door stop

Looked hard for a white-tipped door stop which attached to a skirting board. Wanted them to look classy and expensive as I had taken great care to only purchase good furnishing for my house refurb These are the business and I totally recommend to you. They are weighty, solid and beautifully finished. I have used Schlage before (door handles) and they are more than a cut above everybody else.
