Spend a little more to have highly visible markings

Very solid. Yes, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives, but the visible markings are awesome...especially when your eyesight is deterorating (it's such a drag).

Visible

Very visible and accurate

The angles are out.

Started a major project and pulled out the new square. Low and behold, cutting a 10 in 12 pitch the ridge and plates weren't sitting right...swapped back to my DeWalt square and notibly it was out. Tested against 2 other squares on site and showed it was a no go. On the flip side, comes with a handy instruction manual. Got a nice feature for seat cuts etc but sadly it's a no go. Will work out how to contact customer service.

Two edges not straight!

Very disappointing! Expected better quality from Irwin. Had to file off lumps of paint from the base and grind the end of the base plate because I couldn't get the square to meet both surfaces of the wood I was measuring. When I did that I could then see that the edge wasn't perfectly straight. I gave up at this point and have retired it to the junk pile.

Professional Grade!

After using this Speed square on a room remodel I now feel that i can give an accurate and helpful review of the product. PROS: -Extremely well built! Solid thick metal construction! -Accurate measurements -Good price point for something of quality that will last a lifetime CONS: -Absolutely none, it works perfectly! Would recommend to any DIY guy or Professional alike

only have had it for a few weeks but it seems quite good. the price is amazing and well what else can i say its a speed square. Solid construction, nice thick metal bright easy to read numbers. Only problem i have heard about speed squares is them bending if being stepped on but by feeling this i highly doubt it would at all. I have recommended this so several other carpenters looking for a high quality speed square and they have all purchased and love this product

Better than other squares

This spare by Irwin is very good compared to others available. It is accurate and markings stand out for ease of reading. Little more expensive but worth it...I have others that are good but not as good as this one.
