major time saver for putting up fence posts

I put up 14 fence posts in 24" holes and levelled three times: once after tamping gravel in the bottom, again after pouring a few inches of dry concrete in, and lastly after filling the hole with wet concrete. That's 42 times of leveling. Without a post level, you're measuring three planes, which means I would have had to level/plumb at least 126 times, but most likely more, because once you level one plane, your other two are probably out of level/plumb. Save yourself hours of frustration and shell out a few bucks because every penny will be worth it, unless you enjoy hilariously crooked fences.

Makes it so easy

This tool makes it so easy to make sure your post is level all around and not worrying about holding a level on both sides while the other get out of level. Highly recommend this tool to any DYI that are installing post for fencing or in my case post on my new deck for decoration with lighted tops.

Great concept...VERY weak magnets and short rubber band

This is a great concept to ensure that posts are level during installation. The tool appears very sturdy and is well priced. Unfortunately, the magnets are so weak that they do not adhere to metal, and the rubber band attachment is so short it does not reach around anything beyond a small post. I bought a larger rubber band (small bungee) to make the product work. I would encourage Irwin to increase the magnet strength (and length of the rubber attachment) and you will have a great product.

Tool is fine, but lumber has "shape" and a longer level is preferrable for me.

I honestly didn't choose to use it. I took it out of the packaging and planned on using it, but instead defaulted to a 2' and a 4' level. I was installing 10' and 12' 6x6's. They are relatively straight without twist, but there is just enough un-evenness, bow and slight twist to the wood that we used the levels instead. Even the 2' level wasn't depended on past initial placement. We used the 4' level in both planes for final setting.

Have bought 2 of these, 2nd was totally off on one axis, elastic is cheap/fragile

Have bought 2 of these The first was ok, elastic broke fairly easily.... using an elastic from a broccoli stalk and way better. The 2nd was way off on one axis, luckily i noticed the fence post before the cement set too much. Threw it away in disgust. If you buy one, verify it with a normal level before you depend on it.

It's absolute junk

He unit does not stick to metal post - it slides down magnets too weak It is NOT returnable I also comes with rubber band to holld to post that works until the rubber breaks

Very useful to install fence posts. However, the elastic band that is supplied is absolutely inadequate for 4 inch X 4 inch post. That elastic band is way too small, and cheap.
