Don't over buy!

This paint works pretty well, but it will chip so be careful with it. The coverage is really good and it dries pretty quick. It has a really nice sheen to it on the cabinets without being too bright. But only buy a gal at a time because you cannot return anything. And at this price, you do not want to have a bunch left over. I ended up with an extra gal and no use for it. So, remember you can always order more.

Turned out great but beware of foam rollers

Two coats of BIN shellac primer using foam roller and it dried beautifully to a hard shell-like surface. Next, applied the Cabinet Coat using the same foam roller and hundreds of small bubbles formed and they will not level out. Thinking it's in the paint, I took it to a paint store to get it stirred mechanically. Came back, foam roller again and the same thing. I've painted 3 churches and 2 houses so this is not my first rodeo. Finally dawned on me that the foam roller is not compatible with this paint, so I switched over to a HVLP sprayer and it turned out sooooo beautiful. Out of curiosity, I purchased Behr cabinet enamel and tinted a gallon to the same color as this slightly eggshell based INSL-X, then used the same foam roller on the inside of the cabinet - no problems at all. Dried very smoothly. Conclusion: don't use foam rollers with this paint. I set up a temporary paint booth and ended up using a sprayer. Horizontal pass + vertical pass, dry, sand with 220 grit, repeat two passes, lightly sand, light 3rd coat if necessary. Turned out great!

GOOD LUCK

Project.....Repainting kitchen cabinets.....If your planning on using this paint in a sprayer allow plenty of time to take the sprayer apart every 10 minutes of use and clean. If you don't your sprayer will clog up and you will have a mess or destroy your sprayer. It is not like regular paint where you can mostly finish your project if you continue spraying. This paint is not for a person that is using a sprayer for the first time. I did not thin out the paint at all as the directions say not to. I could only spray 6 cabinet doors on one side and then had to stop and clean. Clean up is with soap and warm water, but don't wait too long to do that either. I was using a brush along with a roller and didn't use the brush for about 15 minutes and it became hard and unusable. The outcome was very good, I just don't know if it was worth all the hassle. Really, Really thin paint.

Based on the good and bad reviews for this paint, it suggests that this brand has some serious quality control issues, because when there’s challenges with white enamel paint they’re worth knowing about. First off I don’t skip steps with painting, I’m not a newbie and I use decent tools. Anytime your painting wood be aware of what your painting over, I had a lot of chipped old paint that needed sanding back, which then required a primer. So I have a clean smooth, primed surface, and after spending some time stirring, using a small foam roller laid down the first coat……and straight off, this paint is thin, really thin, in total it took 5 coats to achieve an even surface. My prep removed all human error, however even if I skipped prepping the paint will still be thin, and to finish this project I’ll need to buy a different paint for a final coat. It’s worth saying though that if your painting on top of white paint you won’t have my challenges, it’s also worth knowing that you can achieve the same results with a less expensive paint, in all honesty there’s nothing special about this paint. It’s just thin enamel paint. If I had to do it all again I’d use a different paint. With all these issues it’s impossible to write a good review, so I’ve stayed as objective as possible.

This stuff rocks!

We are fixing up our 1916 home and repainting a TON of things, as replacing isn't an immediate option for some stuff. I had made the rookie mistake during some of our initial painting of rooms in getting a cheap paint and I learned the hard way usually it is worth a little extra money in this area (I live for a good deal). After a lot of research we opted to try Inslx first for our kitchen cabinets, which I had sanded down thinking we might stain them but I'm SO GLAD we decided on using this paint instead. We are a bit of a wear and tear household and this stuff is amazing and I think worth the price. Super durable and easy to clean. I have since painted over several door frames that had multiple layers of dark maroon/brown paint, and this stuff just sticks on everything and covers like crazy (it all needed at least 2 coats, but I was dealing with some seriously NOT ideal surfaces) and is very forgiving of my often less than perfect brush technique (huge plus). The wash washability is the biggest factor in why we recently forked over the $$ for another gallon. We will be putting up beadboard wainscoting in the kitchen soon and I feel confident that this paint will be durable as hell against bumps, spills and the like. Once I realized this was a Benjamin Moore product the price and the quality made sense. BOTTOM LINE: it isn't cheap, but in my opinion if you are looking for a rough interior semi gloss this is THE paint.

Great cabinet paint

25 years ago I peeled the yellowing laminate off our kitchen cabinets and painted the underlying MDF white with this paint. Added cabinets and had new MDF doors made to match originals. Used this paint again with success. Recently had new drawer fronts made for the cabinets. Was running low on my leftover paint. So happy to find it is still made. Out of stock locally but here at Amazon. Packaged very well with a special ring to prevent leaks. Am now happily painting the fronts. Original paint lob has lasted through 25 years of two teenaged sons and various dogs and I've never had to repaint. Thin and runs easily but take your time and it levels out so smoothly. Very satisfied customer!
