Well-made

The funnel has a good weight, not just some flimsy sheet metal. Also, the strainer fits very well, leaving no gaps on the perimeter. A groove on the side of the neck allows air to escape from the container while being filled. I am positively impressed.

Makes life easier. No, really!

Have no idea how I survived in the kitchen for so long without this nifty gadget. I use it all the time. I don't know how I poured liquids or dry foods into jars or containers before I owned this. Makes for nice, simple, easy and clean transfers. Plan on buying one or two more. I don't want to take the chance of something happening to the only one I have. I need a back up. Seriously, I've become dependent on a funnel. I like the nifty little handle feature. I also like that I discovered I have a mesh strainer that fits into this funnel beautifully. When I juice oranges with a citrus juicer, I first place the funnel over the jar in which I will store the juice. I then nest the strainer within the funnel. When the pulp builds up in the citrus juicer and interferes with the drainage of juice, I, momentarily, stop the juicing and dump the pulp into the strainer where it drains into the jar. It does this while I continue to juice the rest of the oranges. It's just one of the many things I've found I can do with the funnel that makes my life...easier.

A razor-sharp knife and a Jam Funnel can create a smooth-running kitchen!

It is a pleasure working with the Kyocera knife! If one were to look up value as it pertains to ceramic knives, Kyocera comes up as #1. This is why I ordered the knife, and I was NOT disappointed. The size is just right for my hands! It also is extremely sharp! I am a living foods culinary champ, and I need a sharp knife at all times! The "jam funnel" may not look exciting, until you actually know what this little equipment does for the kitchen! I am a maker of sauerkraut and other fermented dishes! The vegetables need to be packed in glass jars! It is extremely helpful to fill a jar with the help of a jam funnel, since there is never any "over spill" down the sides of the jar! The funnel keeps all of the ingredients in the jar! This is an amazing little tool that I am so glad I bought! Prior to taking a fermented foods course, I had no idea a jam funnel even existed! Now, I find it invaluable for filling jars with either dry or wet contents! I like ti very much!

Not Just For Canning Anymore

The funnel serves its purpose and is very nice. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone as we use it for more than just canning. I never thought of using a canning funnel for anything but canning until I was at my parents for Thanksgiving. We decided to put the gravy into Mason jars and now we use it for gravy, soups, stew, spaghetti sauce, absolutely everything. The only reason I deducted a star is that I wish it were a slightly heavier gauge of stainless as I'm a snob when it comes to my kitchen gadgets. This funnel is much nicer than most any other you could find and will keep you from kitchen messes. It's extremely handy to have as a basic kitchen tool.

Used for rendering lard

This seems like a well made item and has worked very well for me when rendering lard. I've read about the handle becoming detached but I usually grab it around the periphery, so the handle is just along for the ride. Easy to use, easy to clean. The nice thing is that it is very stable on top a Wide Mouth Ball jar, so I'm not worried about having hot lard all over the counter! That's a good thing.

HIC 18/8 Stainless Steel Canning Funnel

Having recently purchased this funnel, it has only seen light duty use. That said, it fits wide-mouth jars perfectly which is what I use, exclusively.

I bought this for home espresso making, it fits nicely in a 58mm portafilter which allows the coffee to be distributed without spilling over the edges. The funnel itself is fine for the money, the edges are a bit sharp which might be an issue if I was using it a lot but could easily be remedied with a file. So far the stainless steel seems to be of a decent quality and doesn't seem to have any inclination to rust.

Great for soups!

Bought this primarily to freeze leftover home made soup. Works wonderfully. Love that it's stainless steel. Easy to clean, easy to use, better than the plastic alternatives!
