Could have done better
re review now with the roller clip on vs the steel J hooks its less noisy and looks great but if you look closely at pic 3 you can already see after 2 days that 3 showers so far so moving the hooks back and forth maybe 6 to 8 time total it is all scratched and real stainless does not scratch like this !!!! from a distance it is a big improvement than the ugly white 1 I had previously Thank You to the 3 companies that made this come together , still waiting on my white cotton with brown tree outer curtain . So here is 1 more star because now I do like it du to the screeching going away from regular J hooks NOT LIKE TRADITIONAL SHOWER RODS!!!!! Unlike the average of just twisting until tight with this rod you extended it 1" past the point of where it should go in . ? huh I asked myself when I read that . Ok so it slides out and in at 1rst . so slide it out as far as you can get it on your wall or a little father then wedge it in . once at desired height and location then you twist to lock it into place . So the easy way , slide it out against the wall then tighten it up to where it almost locks but you can still pull or extended it then go about .3 " and wedge it in and within 2 full twists your done (Minus some paint off the walls ) It does look great but with the stainless hooks I have now (I already ordered new ones not J hooks but clip on's with 3 roller balls on each ) they screech horribly !!! so don't go stainless on stainless unless you have some rollers , If I had a picture it would help a lot but they sell on here so pros : Looks great and is sturdy Cons: screechy , pain to get up with new design , and scratches very easily doubt very highly it stainless all the way thru .

Great tension rod, solid, sturdy, and looks good.
I bought this because I had just replaced the shower curtain and liner and the old rod just wasn't working well. Might as well get it all. I am so glad I did. This is far superior to the tension rod I bought at Target. It is very sturdy, bigger, and has instructions on how to properly install it. You fit it between the walls of the shower, then remove it and extend the end by one inch. Then pull it back and fit it into the shower. Then turn that end clockwise. It's a perfect, tight fit every time. If you don't get it right the first time, simply start over. It has a sticker on the end to show you, and the directions that come with it are very easy to understand. It's very attractive and solid looking. Now I don't have to worry about the curtain rod falling down any more. It looks nice with the new curtain and liner, too. I highly recommend it. Update: February 18. 2016 I bought this in October and I'm sad to say it has started to rust. I chose it because I believed it wouldn't rust and because I liked that it stays put once you install it. It still works great, but even though we have a well ventilated bathroom with an exhaust fan and a window, this still rusted. Very disappointed. UPDATE: April 23, 2016 I had to buy another one because after cleaning up the first one, the rust started creeping back. I bought a second one because I really love how it stays in place, even when my children occasionally give a tug on the shower curtain as they get in and out of the tub. There's nothing on the market to beat it. I just wish they would be up front and mention that it is not rust proof.

Tricky to install but figured out the secret
Took it out of the box and it immediately expanded beyond the size I needed it to be. Disappointed I tried reading reviews on how people fixed it. And found nothing, desperate I problem solved until I figured out some key things missing from the instructions. To adjust size: Twist the two main pieces opposite directions for a while. (This twisting will not change the size of the rod, only loosen it so it can be adjusted) Once it's loose pull the pieces closer together or further apart, the spring will magically not be engaged. If it only moves a little and springs back at you, go back and repeat step one in the opposite direction. Now tighten by twisting again. You'll find the spring back in action only letting minimal movement happen to create the tension needed to hang it. Hope this helps someone. Note not in a shower situation, so rust was not on my radar.

Read the instructions - It works perfectly!
I never thought I'd need to write a review of a shower curtain rod. My apartment complex supplied one when we moved in, and it was absolute crap. The standard kind that you twist to make longer, and overtwist to create tension that holds the rod in place. Except our shower rod would make a horrible creaking noise, and over about 10 minutes slide down and off the shower due to the (light) weight of the curtain. We got a replacement, but it was exactly the same quality, couldn't cost more than $1. It didn't have good rubber to keep it held like this rod does, so we ended up taping it on both ends. Well, the tape gave out. No point in arguing with my apartment about getting better shower rods, so I gave this one a shot. It does not work the same way, so you need to read the instructions. If you try to set it up like a standard curtain rod you will break it. To setup, you twist the curtain rod the way you would a standard one. The trick is to do this outside of the shower, and extend it an inch or two longer than it should be. The rod can then be compressed straight back a couple inches and placed back in the shower, creating tension when it decompresses.. The reason this is great is that the tension goes straight out, instead of "twisting" out the way normal shower rods do. It won't budge, and I'll take it with me when I move if I manage to remove it!

Easy to install
Installed it with a set of clear plastic hooks that is holding a liner and a shower curtain. Read the instructions and installed it by myself. Bar is simple and clean looking. No issues.

Excellent product.
Really easy to install, can be moved easily and sturdy. We used it to hang a net curtain on a back door and didn't want to add more holes or a permanent rail. Works well.
