A Balm for Winter Skincare. There are Four (4) Different Oils in This.
Skin type? Sensitive. I had no issues with any negative reaction on our babies’ sensitive skin. I found this good for dry sensitive skin on our children. What did we get? We received a smaller in size squeeze tube in a “non-sealed” sturdy cardboard retail package (I would have preferred even the box to have been sealed). The squeeze tube weighed in at (4.7) ounces, that’s less than half the size of a recent competitor’s). The contents inside measures in at (4) fluid ounces, again less than ½ the size of that recent competitor’s tube. The squeeze tube is a decent height at (6½”). The cap is (1.375”) in diameter. From the cap to the end, it flattens to almost completely flat, like a pancake. Again, it’s a classic lotion squeeze tube. The slippery tube flares out flat at the bottom and is 2¼” wide and has “very” sharp, hard, pointed edges where they crimped the tube shut. It’s a hazard, I dropped this on myself, and it caused a near 2” open scratch. I was not thrilled about that. So, caution is advised about having this tube around our babies. Texture It’s an opaque clear cream – think Vaseline looking, but there is no petroleum jelly in this. Application feels heavy, sticky, tacky, and greasy; that’s how it feels on the skin. EWG verified? Is this EWG verified? No. Reason why not? Unknown. Is EWG verification important to me? Absolutely yes. EWG VERIFIED products cannot contain any ingredients on EWG’s “Unacceptable” list, which includes ingredients with health, ecotoxicity and/or contamination concerns. Will we downgrade for this? No. We knew before hand, plus we have had some success with this (first tried on an adult). Scent Does the lotion have a scent? Hmm, not really. Is it a strong scent? No. What is it? To me it’s a scent of castor oil, that’s the closest I can suggest (the ingredients also refer to organic castor seed oil as an ingredient. I thought it a very mild scent, almost imperceptible). What I liked I thought this to be a decent moisturizer, that nourishes our children’s young/developing, sensitive skin. Absorbency? Hmm, this lingers, for a while. A tacky feeling for hours. It also shines the skin. Where used? I use this primarily on knees, ankles, and toes. This warns keeping this away from the eyes, so I do not use this on the face. It’s formulated with what the manufacturer described as USDA Organic ingredients. I found our children skin still felt as soft and supple the next morning. Ingredients? It’s in the listing, however, there are four (4) oils in this, almond, coconut, castor, and sunflower. (The reason for that heavy feel?) Now it does not have petroleum jelly, but it does have beeswax. Ingredient comment. A balm is usually made with some sort of wax, to make the balm’s, consistency harder and thicker. This has that harder and thicker consistency. Reading the ingredients, we see there is beeswax, which is a classic balm ingredient. Date made? There was no date when this was made, but there was a date when appears to expire, December 2024. This was made in USA, which I appreciate. I like made in the USA beauty/baby products. Based on the totality, this is a four (4) star product, I like it, but I am basing this against a competitor whose cream, not balm, goes on light and absorbs, not leaving a tacky feeling that this does. Plus I am not a fan of that tube, with those sharp edges. Would I select this again? I would but would consider trying something else first. Value? The price is on the premium side versus a very famous brand that I use, and the amount given here is not very generous, at only four (4) ounces. Consider consulting a health care professional prior to use of any over the counter products. I hope my thoughts added information.

Organic Balm
I actually use this product on my hands! I have really bad hand eczema, which causes my hands SEVERELY dry out and crack sometimes during the cooler months. My doctor prescribes me a special ointment, but I have to use it very sparingly since it can cause thinning of the skin. So I'm always on the lookout for new ointments to try on my hands! Lotion just isn't moisturizing enough. I especially like using baby ointments because they usually don't smell as bad and are made with more natural ingredients. I really like that this balm isn't made with petroleum! It does still have a slight oily texture after you rub it in, but I don't think it is quite as bad as some of the other balms put there. It doesn't fully rub in, but that's to be expected since it is a balm. In the picture of my hand that I uploaded, I have it applied on the back of my hand and almost up to my middle knuckles on my fingers. You can kinda see the glossy sheen. It doesn't have a heavy feel to it after it's been applied. I haven't noticed any stains on clothing from use. So far I do like the balm. Can't say it's my favorite, but I will continue to use it. A huge plus is that it's USDA certified organic!!

Really helps dry, irritated skin
This balm works really well on dry skin and is very gentle. My daughter has very sensitive skin and a lot of lotions and ointments simply irritate her skin more than they help. Hyland's balm is very soothing for her though and we could see a difference after just a few days. The balm has a very silky texture and is easy to apply. The only problem is that it is very thick and leaves skin feeling greasy. Because of this, we haven't used it in the mornings or during the day. Instead we use it after her bath when she's going to bed so that it doesn't bother her as much.

Hyland's Naturals Baby Organic All Purpose Balm - Works Well
Hyland's Naturals Baby Organic All Purpose Balm works well, though it is a wee bit oily. It is gentle and non-irritating, and I didn't notice much in the way of a scent. It's also easy to dispense from the tube, and there isn''t much waste. A pretty good value, I'd rate it about 4.4

Not impressed
Be honest, this product is so 'normal'. It is shinny and greasy like vaseline but not as sticky compared to vaseline. Each time when my little one have cracked & red irritating cheeks, I put vaseline on his face before bedtime and his face will be mostly normal second day morning. I do it again the second night, third day morning his cheek will be completely healed and soft again. I received this in a good time, my little was just had a cracked and irritated cheeks again, so I did the same thing. I applied this the night before, my little one woke up with same irritated red cheek, I tried it again second night, on the third day, his cheek looked better, and seems to be healing, but very slowly compared to vaseline. I will say, it is great product as a prevention for babies and toddlers. I would still preferred Vaseline over this. I would use this during the winter as a prevention for my little one's cheeks, but when there is redness and cracked, this products helps, but is taking much longer time to see the results.

A great choice, albeit a little greasy
When it comes to my kids, I want the best ingredients. I'm moving our household products to more natural and organic ingredients whenever possible, and it starts with them. I appreciate that this product has high-quality ingredients and nothing icky to put on their skin. It's a little more pricy, but I find that I don't have to apply something like this daily, and a little goes a long way, so spending extra isn't too much of a dealbreaker. Like other reviewers have mentioned, this is a little greasy. I've used it on problem spots and even as a diaper cream, and it's non-irritating. I do feel like it can rub off a little easy if you don't rub it in well, but overall it's a nice option to have on hand. We live in a very dry state, so something like this is super helpful in the winter, especially with chapped cheeks. It applies like a more natural Vaseline — maybe a little thinner, but the same idea. I'd recommend it to anyone trying to clean up their family's skin care.
