Outter magnets not strong enough for my tank
Wish had option for stronger magnets

Great buy
Best powerhead for the money. It’s bigger than I thought it was but it still does the job

Not better than previous generation but OK.
Arrived on 11/2/20. I put 2 of these 3rd Gen. Hydors in my 125g. The magnets are weaker than the previous gen. Hydor and because of that I had to put both on the same side of my aquarium. The older Hydor magnets were stronger and I was able to have 1 on each side because it was strong enough to hang on when 1 of the cords had to be routed around my overflow box. Meaning, if you put any strain on the power cord it will pop out of position EASILY unless you have the older Hydor. I have the 1350gph models and I do not use any of the guards for a maximum flow of 1350gph. It seems to be enough to do the job I need it to do. It seems weak because it is designed for a more diffused flow instead of a more direct flow like on the older Hydor. I need enough circulation to keep my water clear on this 6 foot long tank and these Hydors give it the extra circulation that I needed. Without them my water would not be as crystal clear as it is now. I have other pumps circulating water but these Hydors help give it the extra flow needed to get the job done for me. I try to position everything to make the water flow clockwise and upwards. Minus 1 star for weak magnets. I am hoping that the impellers are better made than the previous gen. ones because the older impellers were the weak parts that broke first. May update this post later on.

Big improvement
This pump is everything the previous model is not. This new mounting system is awesome you can aim this nearly anywhere. Hydor fixed all the defect issues in the last model...to include the cracking of the housing that could send a low charge into the tank. The only problem is that to get the maximum flow you have must not use the fish guard. This is highly deceptive, but all flow rates on all circulation pumps are higher than what you can get under real world conditions. This style of pump is made to create a wide gentler flow. This is why the current is not strong the further you get from the pump. If you are purchasing this pump to create a strong current on the other side of the tank, you are picking te wrong pump. I have this located less than 4 inches from my sand bed at the back of the tank in order to get flow along the back. It works perfectly in my 75 gallon tank. Plus it doesn't blow the sand everywhere. Based on the previous model this thing is gonna last forever. Hydor pumps only issue has been the durability of the housing and the pump spinning in reverse....none of that here. You will get your money's worth from this pump..

3rd Gen Pumps Kick Butt!
I am in the process of setting up my 93 gallon cube tank. The tank is currently 3/4 full with only Arag-Alive (Hawaiian Black) substrate on the bottom and 3 pumps to mix in salt. I own 4 brand new Koralia pumps that I just opened to mix salt in the tank. Two are Koralia 1150 Evolutions (2nd Gen) and two are Koralia 1950 (New 3rd Gen). I only ended up using the two 3rd Gens and one 2nd Gen Evolution 1150. The biggest difference, and I mean HUGE, is noise. The 2nd Gen Evolution 1150 makes a very noticeable hum. The new 3rd Gens (1950, but there are three 3rd Gen models) are COMPLETELY SILENT! I'm talking with my ear right up to the glass, silent. Secondly, the new mount is 100x's better. You can basically face the pump completely sideways on it, or straight up and down if that's what you need. The older Koralias cannot achieve this level of customization. Not even close. Next, they include 3 separate water diffusers/protectors with each unit, in addition to the bare output. There's a small fish guard, medium fish guard, and diffuser. I'm currently using the diffusers on both of the 3rd Gens because it sends water straight, up & forwards, and down & forwards, as opposed to the older model just pumping straight ahead. The flow does get weaker using the diffuser because it functions like a splitter instead of focusing all of the water straight ahead. I also have the Smartwave Controller, but haven't tested it yet. But I read that the 3rd Gens don't make a clicking sound when turning on & off. I just ordered another 1950 3rd Gen pump to replace the humming Koralia 1150 Evolution. As far as tank size goes (and this is for saltwater ONLY because I don't have a freshwater tank), I would say a 1950 would be good for a 30" long tank. Anything bigger or smaller and you'd have to check out either the bigger or smaller 3rd Gen pumps. The 1950 is the middle model. So ditch those older Koralia Evo's because this pump is definitely worth the upgrade.

Cheap, strong, and versatile
Easily comes apart for cleaning or swapping from beam to a wide flow. The suction and magnet are plenty strong and the magnet in the back of the powerhead itself lets you angle the flow to almost any angle. I have mine set up at wide angle at the middle of one side of my 40 breeder and a more direct powerhead pointed slightly up on the opposing side. Creates great flow for my fish and coral.
