Great Product! It Demonstrates the Diamagnetic Properties of Graphite
I really felt it was important to add my opinion after reading some odd reviews from people that really did understand what the product was. Neolev Technologies is really underselling this. It a great desk toy for the scientist or those interested in science. Its also a great physics and materials demonstration. It a piece of high quality graphite (called highly oriented pyrolytic graphite or HOPG) levitating on a set of magnets. Well ordered graphite is diamagnetic and repelled by a magnetic field. This product demonstrates the effect well. Many are familiar with a magnet floating over a superconductor, this does the same thing without needing cold temperatures! I had a similar product years ago that was smaller and a bit finicky. Neolev has a clever track design that allows illustration of the effect in a much more interactive fashion. The levitating piece moves with the slightest breeze and can oscillate for over 2 minutes when given a strong push. Everyone that came by my desk has been fascinated with it.

Not the diamagnetic version
Neolev sells two kinds of these model hoverboards. One works by diamagnetism, the other by ordinary repulsion using sides to prevent rotation. This description here is of the former. The latter was sent to me.

Lead to believ i was ordering something completley different than what i got. Dissspointed!
As I was looking at huvorboards on amazon, I noticed the " Levating Board. The advertising made it seem like a board SIMILAR to huvorboards. I did not want hubor bosrds for my grandkids .I've heard that the batteries catch fire and they are not safe. So I choose to get the Levating Board. These are nothing like I thought ! They are about 5-6 inches long. , they are not made to ride let alone stand on.All it does is move a magnet back and forth. I am very disappointed, and so are my grandkids. You should advertise this product differently. I was falsely lead to believe I was getting something totally different than what I got.

Not as cool as I thought it would be even though the reviews are great for it! It's a big, heavy base and then just a tiny little piece that floats on top of the board.

It’s not magic. If you say so.
Great kinetic sculpture.

Not what I expected. No directions. Basically a paper weight.
I'll be returning it.

Yes, it really works and it's totally awesome!
I just received this as a gift. I think my first words were "Are you kidding me?" This is really awesome! I had never seen anything like this! It is definitely a discussion starter, and everyone wants to try it. After they do, everyone wants to try to figure out the mechanics of how it works. I also like to have it on my desk when working, and when I need a brief mental break it's very relaxing to make it start and just watch it quietly go back and forth. Between the quietness and the action, soon I am ready to go again - or reword that email a little bit kinder (so glad I took time to think before I hit send). So, to answer what everyone's first question was "Does it really work?" Yes, it really does work and it's really cool. These are going to make fun birthday and/or Christmas gifts!

This is so COOL!!
This is so COOL!!!! The board floats on a magnetic flux! I'm taking my Newton's Cradle (5 swinging balls on strings) off of my desk and putting this novelty in its place. It is the new conversation starter when my clients come into my office.
