Good kit for a four to five year old.
This is probably our third or fourth kit. Again I Had fun putting this together with my son. Directions were good, he is four so I needed to help as there were many small pieces. This brand is not as easy to put the pieces together as Others but still good. It was just sometimes the pieces required a little more push. Seems also like the pieces don’t fit perfectly. The cars have wheels that move and a top that you take off to inset the driver. My son enjoys playing with the car and rider and it does not break apart. The directions are very easy to follow.

Twin mill is classic hot wheels. Better details, cheaper than lego. But mega still not quite as good
For about $10 this is a great value for a vehicle plus a car. But if getting as a gift, please keep consider the following... This is more of a model car. The pieces are highly specialized so the child will likely never take it apart and build other things, which is one of the best things about lego. For most kids, I would suggest instead getting a flexible lego set that allows them to build and create. This one, once you assemble, play is somewhat limited. There's no race track this will fit on. The box it comes in serves as a display stand. But if that's the kind of collecting you do, then there are plenty of models to choose from. It would be great for a hot wheels fan. And this one - the Twin Mill - is one of the oldest, most symbolic hot wheels cars (along with bone crusher). It's gone through many generations, changing throughout the years just like Ford updates its Mustang. That's probably why they chose it for this collection. So if this is a gift for a how wheels collector, the Twin Mill is a great one to start with. Mega tend to have a lot more details than lego. But again that means a lot of specialty blocks, so you build this one specific thing, it's not as easy to build something else. As I mentioned, that missed out on one of the best parts of legos - to have a bucket of spare bricks to build a fort, build some extra vehicles, etc. The minifigs for mega are quite a bit different than lego. The holes on his rear end don't really match up with the seat, it's really difficult to get him lined up and push him down on the seat. I don't like that the minifig has no personality. Hotwheels has licensed characters, why not use one of the people from their wii games or something like that? His race suit does look cool though. I don't like that the doors don't open, and the top isn't hinged - you have to disassemble to roof to put your minifig in and out. The pieces don't snap together as cleanly as lego, you have to push harder, and sometimes an adult is needed to push them together tightly or the next step doesn't work. The mega instructions are never as good as lego instructions. This one was fairly straightforward, there were only a couple steps that weren't entirely clear. It took an 8 yr old about 45 minutes to assemble, I think older kids can get it done in 10 minutes.

Our 5y.o loved this as it combined two of his favourite toys togther - Hot Wheels and Legos
Our 5 Y.o Son is a huge fan of Hot Wheels and building blocks (Legos) and he was super stoked to build and play with this Mega Construx hot wheels toy ... In fact he recognized the Twin Mill design right away from the Hot Wheels racing game which made him even more excited - One thing to keep in mind is that this set contains a lot of small pieces, and as a result he needed our help to fully finish his build - Even us parents had a bit of a challenge completing some of the parts, especially seating and fixing the driver figure in the cockpit as there is very little room and very hard to align the block to the driver to seat him - The build quality of the blocks is excellent and the wheels roll freely - It is compatible with Legos, our son was able to add a 'Cannon' to the side of the car like Batmobile :) - It has a nice big size as well Overall if your child likes Hot Wheels and Legos then this is a perfect, inexpensive gift for him/her that they're sure to love. Just keep in mind that they might come to you for help with some of the smaller/more difficult pieces

Buildable Hot Wheels set is lots of fun
My boys, ages 4 and 8, love LEGO and similar building sets and they're crazy about Hot Wheels. This set combines both. Winner! And, extra bonus, Twin Mill is my big kid's favorite Hot Wheels car. He excitedly went and found several regular Hot Wheels Twin Mills he has and lined them up while he build this set. It was really cute to watch. From a mom's perspective, I love that these are compatible with LEGO. Seriously, the last thing on earth we need is another set of something something keep separate because they won't work with sets they already have. I think it's great that, when these pieces inevitably get separated and tossed into a LEGO bin, they'll still be usable. This set was a hit in my house. I will get some as gifts, as I know other little boys will love these, too. Highly recommend.

Happy son
My boys LOVED this. i have kids ages 5 to 7 who are lego building obsessed and they loved everything about this. they actually didn't even know it wasn't lego. It was easy for them to build without any of my help. The best part is the figure that it comes with moves his arms not just up and down like the lego brand but side to side which they thought was the coolest thing. The guy it comes with might be their favorite part. I have three boys and got them each a different set and everyone loved theirs My son loved putting his figure in the car and afterwards each kid had a ton of fun actually playing with their cars, normally with their legos they just put them on display but i feel like these are built for play playing which is a huge plus

Perfect "busy" toy
These little kits are so cute. They are absolutely perfect for those times that you need to entertain a kid without screen time. Not too many pieces so you can keep up with all of them (bring a sandwich ziplock bag if you thing they won't finish). Great for traveling on a plane, bringing out to eat, road trips, etc. Perfect size for Easter basket stuffer. It's too complicated for my toddler to do on his own, but he was super happy with dad helping him.
