I think they're fantastic building blocks, with a few small exceptions
I suppose there are 2 areas I find issue with. First, you really need to buy a lot of sets to get enough "foundational" blocks to really let your creativity run wild. Luckily, these are at the right price for that, but still I wish there were special packs of just the basic building block parts, so you can go bigger & bulkier. The second area is just that the design leads to a lot of structural weaknesses when you do build something big & bulky, you need to plan ahead to make the whole thing stay together by cleverly placing reinforcing pegs where you need to hold more weight. With the tremendous potential for building things like...buildings, it seems like a lost opportunity not to have more floor or wall parts. It's difficult to simply make a flat wall without holes in it, while it's a snap to make...ships and these mechas. Still, the possibilities are mind boggling once you have about $200 worth! I like to build diorama stuff, and these are almost perfect except for the areas I've mentioned. These work great to augment other sci-fi themed toys with essential props etc.

If your looking for something other than legos!
My son is 11 and has been playing with Legos for years. We tried these as an alternative and I must say it’s 10/10. Product is good quality and the the pieces fit together nicely. Endless opportunities!!!!

Great toy for anyone that loves lego
My son is obsessed with Lego. My husband found snap ships for him since they are also a building block toy. He loves them since just like Lego, you can build according to instructions and then you can modify and recreate your own design.

Great display, below average toy
I loved Multimac, Tomics, Robotix, Robolinks and Legions of Power as a kid-- and this seems like an updated version for 2022. I got my 8 yo son nearly every set but really I just wanted to play with them too. I think they look awesome, but he never plays with them and I can see why its just not as fun as those older toys (which he uses often). These really seem more for adult collectors than play. This set in particular looks fantastic, but its also one of the least "playable". The pieces are very small and detailed, but that makes them all look kind of the same in the directions which can make it time consuming and frustrating to assemble. And while the locking blocks are a cool idea, they don't hold together very well. Its difficult to keep it standing and it keeps coming detached at the waist and the weapons, arms and feet are falling off. The tiny pilot is very detailed but can't be posed or anything and no personality. And while there are some alternate builds in the manual its just not as flexible as other building sets because most of the pieces are "accessory" and armor plates, but not enough actual structural cubes to make something more unique. After all the work building the main mode there just isn't the ambition to take it apart and make something new like with Lego etc. I think this would be ideal for adults like me or older kids who would use these more like models than for play.

Super fun mech for both father and son!
So let me start of by saying that I love snap ships in general. This kit makes a really fun mech that me and my son have enjoyed playing with for hours! It's got little missile pods that you press with your thumb to actually fire, and he just gets such a kick out of that. We have little battles with his dinosaurs versus the "robot!" as my son calls it. The articulation of the mech is great - almost too great as it can be a pain to get it to stand up some times because there are so many joints. But once it's posed, it'll stay in it's pose, it's not too flimsy to stand up straight. This kit is probably the single most fun one that both me and my son have been able to enjoy together. The other one he loves is the tank.

Great but not perfect
This is a really fun model kit. Snapships is a great line if you want something different than lego/mega construx but not quite ready for gundam. This figure is really fun to build but being the first mech in the series, if does suffer from loose joints and armor bits that have a tendency to pop off when posing. Other than that, great kit!
