Durable and easily built 7-way trailer blade connector
This was exactly what I was looking for... a durable plug with strong wire connection points. Blade connections are thick, screw terminals are strong, the metal body isn't going to break with use, and wire management will protect cable from pulling out. There is a slight angle to the exiting wire which probably mimics what the natural wire droop would be when plugged in. It isn't an issue. The overall body fits well in the hand for inserting and removing from the vehicle connector. The provided metal clamps on the screw terminals are OK for smaller gauge wire, but awkward for larger gauges. I removed the clamps and used crimped ring terminals with lock-washers which fit easily on the screw terminals and cleared the inside of the metal shell... very rugged and reliable. I also used their provided waterproofing grease on these connections after testing. I expect these will be permanent connections. The metal frame and plastic rear shell require stripping off the outer cable insulation essentially to the entrance grommet for wires to pass thru the frame. I would leave a little extra wire length (e.g., extend an inch past front of metal shell) to make connecting wires to screw terminals easier. Extra wire will easily fit inside the large shell. I cut the wires close to minimum length making it more difficult to make connections than necessary. I needed to cut the rear grommet cone to fit my trailer cable, and left it a tight fit. However it can be difficult to push the cone onto the cable. I used slick tape over the cable jacket edge to guide the cone onto it. The instructions say to use included wire-tie to clamp wires to rear metal frame to provide strain relief and keep outer wire insulation from pulling out past the grommet (a good idea), but my package had no wire-ties so I provided my own. Their package wiring diagram is incomplete, which is odd given the 7-way blade connectors are essentially standardized. You'll need to provide your own wiring guide. The plastic front blade housing has wire function short-hand codes molded in at the screw terminals and were correct for my Ford truck factory 7-way harness. I found the bracket adequately strong and installed it.

The bad reviews are true...but...
So I read the bad reviews only after purchasing the product which was not wise on my part. What they all say are the same message, the wires are hard to push thru the small hole and around the mis-placed and poorly designed metal frame. So why did I give it 5 stars? Because once I got past the annoying wiring situation the product worked as it should and I am buying a product, not perfection. I tested all the lights and the brakes and they all worked fine when I was done so I have no complaints. If any part of this product fails in the next 12 months, I will be back here updating my review. Stay tuned...

Solid construction, wire path could be better
This was a worthwhile upgrade to our trailer's factory plug, which seldom made a good connection without sanding the corroded contacts. The contacts appear to be high quality. The included holder is a nice bonus although you'll probably want to use different screws if you're attaching it to the steel beams of your trailer tongue - these "self-drilling" screws aren't going to cut it, and something with a hex head makes it easier to apply the torque necessary to bite into steel. The only reason I'm subtracting a star is that the black plastic tail of the plug, where the wire enters, has a center screw and interior braces that make it unnecessarily difficult to route a thick bundle of wires. I still recommend this and would buy it again, but save yourself some time and pay attention to how you'll route the wires through the tail piece before attaching the wires to the connector; it will likely be easier if you split the bundle and route half the wires above and half below the center screw.

Cost a little more but well worth it
This is the best plug you will find. Pros The body is metal and well made. The plastic on the front of the plug is heavy and well fitted. The screws holding the wires are well machined. The connection to the blade make wiring easy. Directions and schematic are complete. The clamp to hold the plug when not in use is heavy and holds well Cons Wire path out the back is not intuitive. It is not hard once you figure it out but it takes a little manipulation. Where the wire goes into the plug does not have a clamping device. This is not really a problem because the plug design does not lend itself to pulling on the wire instead of the plug to unplug it.

Odd fixture - tough body let down by weak fastening of the blade section
This is an odd piece of kit. Whilst the body is metal and very robust, the plastic working end is only held in by a small screw through the metal casing that screws into a piece of plastic less than 1/4" thick. Lots of strain on this when plugging and unplugging. There is no cable clamp to take the strain of the wire. Sure you can tie wrap the cables to the metal bar inside as suggested, but that makes it difficult to take apart in future. Cables coming in have to be routed half each side of a metal bar to get to the business end. Now my setup has individual cables inside an outer braid that can be undone and pulled back. Not sure how a sheathed cable would work though. Once you strip enough sheath off to get the loose cables out of the front for fitting to the clamps you would have to fold all the wires to get the front back in without the sheath coming out; maybe with small wires but not with anything like 12ga.

Solid Feel
I haven't used this plug very long but so far it works well. The terminals inside are fairly large and easy to connect to. Getting the cable grip back together took a little extra effort. (This will vary depending on what cable you are using.) I was slighly concerned with the angle at which the cable exits the plug. In the picture it looks like it would be at about a 40 degree angle (it isn't). The socket on my truck would have this pointing to the side, away from the trailer, not down. After installation and testing, the angle is minimal and works fine with a horizontal socket. (see customer pictures)

As described
Best trailer hook up I have ever had. Best on the market would never get anything but for any trailer.
