Almost as bad as the spring it replaced

My old gate had a spring which wasn't closing the gate by itself. Measured old spring and ordered this one. After replacement, the gate still doesn't always close by itself. I have critters I don't want running around, so this gate has to close everytime. Since I don't think the quality is what it used to be, I'm going to look into alternatives.

disappointed

holes too far a part to fit my gate frame (standard rod iron), no problem, drilled new ones. spring back is ok but if the gate bounces through the latch on first go the spring action is not strong enough to pull gate closed on recoil. it mostly does the trick but not 100% effective, maybe 75%

Gate swing makes a difference

The product is made well and it couldn't be easier to install. My gate opens to the inside and if you are on the outside, the latch is on the right so when I tighten the spring the closer wants to open the gate. If you turn the spring the other way it will come loose because it's not made to work that way. I've tried other spring openers and it's the same thing.

Dangerous.

Metal is cheap and brittle. Under a lot of tension. Breaks easily. Very dangerous. If you waste your time and money on this spring loaded mistake you could easily and without warning lose an eye. Or some teeth. Maybe even get some gruesome stitches in time for Halloween…if that’s your thing. Not for the practical person with any common sense. But perfect for flat-earthers and lawn dart enthusiasts.

Its what i needed for my Rod iron side gate

The wimpy ones I bought couldn't handle the Iron gate on the side of the house. I first got one at HD. Major disappointment. This one was much stronger and after adjusting this i had to back it off because it was a bit too strong. It works great. Its a bit tricky adjusting it and getting the lock in but I got it after a few attempts.

Great Utility Gate Accessory

It was an easy installation. Rather than using the accompanying screws I purchased some self tapping screws from the hardware store. The tension adjustment is quite easy but you must have at least a 10" adjustable wrench to turn the adjustment end of the assembly.

Weak Adjustment

if I open my gate too wide the Spring will spin and lose tension and will not latch the gate mechanism. A simple spot weld or pin would keep the spring from spinning on the adjustment bolt...

you need more the 1 for a gate door to actually close

Fonctionne super bien

Juste bien planifier ou le placer, si la porte ouvre vers vous, le spring va de l'autre coté, pour ajuster la tension, prévoir une grosse clé de mécano, c'est seulement une pine de metal qui fait office de stopper

Awful

It ce out of the packaging very difficult to install and never really worked well. After 2 weeks of use I tried to adjust it and it fell apart completely. Absolutely garbage. Don't waste your money.

Spring vent after first use. Not heavy duty at all.
