Collar is Amazing. Following the directions keeps you and your cat safe.
This collar is amazing. My cat at 6 months old had a very bad flea infestation and I tried this collar on him and it worked amazingly. I highly recommend giving your cat a very good bath before applying the collar to kill a large bulk of fleas on them, or getting a professional one. I paid about 80$ at petco for my cat to get a flea bath and it took about 2 hours however that saved me much more money than spending months of fighting fleas with many expensive products. If you want to do it at home, look up some tutorials because some of them teach you what to do in order to prevent fleas from retreating to your cats face during a bath. In order to prevent chemical burns, wash your hands after taking the collar out of the packaging and stretching it to activate it. Brand new collars are when the chemicals are at its strongest. When first putting it onto your cat, you can either set it aside for about 3 days after activating the collar to put it on your cat in case they have sensitivities. Or, you can put it on right away but keep it Very loose. For the first few days I made sure I could fit 4-5 fingers underneath the collar while it was on my cat. This would make sure that the close contact with his skin wouldn’t irritate him while the chemical was at its strongest. Over the span of a week i tightened it to to fit about 3 fingers. He was still growing at the time so I left room for him to grow into a bit. It was loose enough to comfortably slip the collar on and off over his head. Since his flea infestation was so bad I left the excess of collar on him for the first 2 months especially since I would need to adjust it later. It’s not a bad idea to cut the excess off and put it into your vacuum bag for killing fleas around the place. My apartment is about 80% carpet and there are many fabrics and blankets for fleas to hide in. This killed and repelled fleas perfectly. The reason for fleas still persisting for other reviewers is because you also have to vacuum and wash every fabric, blanket, sheet, bedding, and clothes that you have. You also have to get other products that are meant to kill fleas in the environment. I purchased a powder to sprinkle on carpet and leave to dwell for a few hours and vacuum up and I did that once a week for about 3 weeks before we were flea free. I moved every piece of furniture to make sure everything was coated and this has left my apartment and my cat flea free for over 6 months. He has had no itching or irritation around his neck from this collar. The instructions advise against using this on kittens, elderly, and medicated cats. During flea season I used flea meds with this collar to prevent later on infestation. I only did this once the collar was on for 4 months. It would interact less and I made sure the collar was off for about 5 days after applying the meds. He has been perfectly fine all this time and no vets have advised against it or seen anything wrong with him. You and your cat will be perfectly fine as long as you closely follow instructions and keep an eye on it for the first month. Fleas will be gone with this collar AND other steps taken to kill and prevent fleas within the home. It takes a lot of work and time and money to get rid of fleas and its very tedious but this was one of the best things to help get rid of fleas. Bowls of soap and water did not catch a single flea compared to this. Also recommend getting a cat deworming med after the fleas are gone. Cats can get fecal tapeworms from ingesting a flea and since they are self groomers theres an extremely high chance they will. My cat did. There are some decently priced ones here on amazon where i got mine and it worked after the first dose.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, LOST OUR CAT TODAY BECAUSE OF THIS COLLAR!!!!!!!
PLEASE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF YOUR CATS DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT EVER! The only reason I'm writing this review is in hopes someone reads this before they lose a pet of their own as well. This collar doesn't deserve a review but deserves class action lawsuits. I had recently purchased this flea collar for a cat of my grandmother's who was around 5 months old, not quite a kitten anymore but not fully grown either and was an outside stray cat but was now going to be an inside cat (her previous inside cat passed away last Fall) so we needed to make sure it didn't have any fleas or eggs. I had saw the ratings of 4-5 stars and noticed it was Amazon's Choice so I figured it must be safe and effective to be rated so well. It also states it's for cats and kittens so I thought perfect it should work just fine as I know kittens should not have cat flea collars due to the strength differences. After a couple days the cat was doing fine, however, nearly a week into wearing it she became very lethargic suddenly one evening as we had trouble finding her in the house. We immediately suspected the flea collar as we've known of others animals sometimes getting sick after wearing one but always perked back up once it was off. So the next morning (today- Sunday) the flea collar was off for several hours at this time, but the cat had only gotten worse and now was not able to lift her head or get up at this point. She began to paddle as if swimming and moving but remained on the floor with her eyes closed. At the time we thought the feet movement was a good sign but were still very concerned as you could not see her breathing with a weak heart beat and still seemed unconscious. We immediately called our local vet, on a Sunday mind you, luckily she answered but told us she would not be able to see the cat but to go to the pet hospital about 30 miles away for an emergency visit as this is very common in these Hartz brand collars to cause flea collar toxicity and the symptoms all fit what this cat was going through. We immediately drive 90+ there holding the cat in our lap to the hospital. We're greeted by the vet who takes her in and immediately checks her in then comes back to us: Glucose, 40mg/dL, normal temperature but elevated blood pressure. Turns out the paddling was seizures. But it looks 50/50. We let the hospital keep her to run IVs, raise the glucose and flush the system essentially of the poison from this collar. I receive a call around 4 hours later since leaving the vet that she passed away, catheter and all to try and save this cat but she couldn't pull through. After receiving the call from the vet, hearing that the cat didn't even show signs of fleas, this loss should not have even happened as we shouldn't have even put a collar on her because she had no fleas from the beginning. So, a few minutes after hanging up with the vet I had to tell our grandmother that her little kitten didn't make it and that this collar was the sole reason why her pet passed away. I hope no one has to go through this like we did after less than 24 hours of noticing symptoms to having to bury your grandmothers cat who never should've even had this collar. This product is utterly misleading and DEADILY to any kittens or cats even younger than a year or at all. Though there is no belief from the hospital that the age of our cat mattered in why the toxicity was so bad. I will NEVER use a cat collar again especially this very brand and this collar. AGAIN, PLEASE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF YOUR CATS DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT EVER! I hope this review will saves other's pets as we lost ours because of it.

Amazing collar for ticks !
I have a VERY adventurous indoor/outdoor cat that would bring home 2-3 ticks at night . Almost every night. Got so sick of removing them and had a very concerned 9 year old (this cat is like an emotional support cat for him). We're on a budget and I couldn't see spending $70-80 on a collar. Took the risk on this much cheaper collar and Loki has not come home with one tick yet! Best $9 I've ever spent!
