Nice and solid all metal

As other reviewers have no doubt noted this is a nice solid heavy duty piece which for a change may outlast my shower head! It operates a bit differently in the push down pull up methodology for changing between the shower head to the handheld, and you can't have both which is the only slight disappointment.

Hansgrohe Handheld Shower Diverter

This hand shower diverter is all metal, not like those cheap plastic diverters that will break if you over-tighten. This will just stop tightening if you over-tighten, as it should be. Although it doesn't specify it in the instructions, I used teflon tape around the shower pipe, around the nipple on the diverter valve for the showerhead, and installed it until it was quite tight. You should install it as per the instructions on the package. If the valve starts to leak when you turn the water on, then take everything apart and use the teflon tape. Wrap the threads twice, and then re-install. The reason for this is that all pipes are not made equal, so you should err on the side of caution. Also, I installed the hand shower holder at 3 O'clock, which should prevent the valve from loosening up, as it provides an automatic tightening whenever you remove and replace the hand shower onto the holder. With the water on, the valve feels smooth and you don't need a lot of force to use it. I'll post updates as time goes on about valve operation. But I think you will be pleased with the quality of this valve. And if you don't have a hand shower to use it with, you can always use it as a plumb bob because it's that heavy.

Very good quality but restricts water

The quality of this product is fabulous. It's heavy and feels SOLID. It's does not feel cheap or flimsy and definitely not made of plastic. However, I could see right away that it was going to put a huge water restrictions on both the handheld and the main faucet. There is no way to increase the flow. Also, it made my showered too look clunky. I decided to go for a diverter that is attached near the wall end of the shower arm rather than the end of the shower arm. I am very happy with Amazon's ease of return.

Very nice valve! I replaced a plastic version that worked well for quite a while. This valve is impressive. Works flawlessly with little effort. For those who appreciate reparability it appears that the internals can be accessed with a pair of E ring pliers and a hex wrench. The only downside was during installation. A synthetic washer is supplied for the connection to the shower arm. Upon tightening, the rather thin tubing slices through the washer rendering it useless. I used about 4 wraps of plumbers tape and only tightened till I was satisfied. All is well!

Solid

Very good build quality. All metal construction with some rubber bits on the inside. There might be some plastic in there too but I can't tell. Finish is excellent and product feels quite heavy and substantial. The effort to move the diverter is lower than I expected, especially with wet hands.

Hansgrohe Diverter

I replaced another diverter with this one and so far so good. Easy to install and easy to use. Wrapped white sealing tape on the threads and installed this diverter to the water pipe end and the other two sides to a hand held sprayer and to a new shower head. Everything works and no leakage noted.
