fast
love how easy it is to use and clean but, this one really is TOO fast.. very little difference between slow and fast which makes things i use it for that requires a lower speed not work out as well as they do in a simple kitchenaid processor. i got this to not have to use the kitchenaid anymore since my protein fluff/creamy mixes keep going under/into blade holding piece, it doesn’t do so with this hamilton beach but, it doesn’t fluff up protein fluff/whipped stuff much at all since speed is just too fast and just basically tries to puree it all.. I should return it but, it shreds blocks of cheddar cheese (the kraft ones fit into opening without needing to cut it first) really well on larger shredded for the most part and of course fast.. if it wasn’t for this, it would of gotten returned..

The adjustable slicer is WONDERFUL no more paper thin sliced cucumbers !
The adjustable slicer is great I like slices for things about 1/4 " not the normal 2/ 32" size that turns into slime ! Great machine well thought out stores well best I have had in years

Processor Progress
This is a clear improvement over my old Hamilton Beach food processor (though its bowl is smaller and its price is higher). I bought the old one mainly for operational simplicity and strong circulation (great for salsa), but then found that it lacked basic abilities like slicing at more than one thickness. Also it was painfully loud and shrill: a simple mandolin seemed more capable and much quieter. I also owned an older Cuisinart Classic Pro, which had a great motor but was otherwise an extravagance of time-wasting, patience-exhausting plastic tubes and latches (with six single-purpose disks sharing the same awkward adapter). Now, using this new Hamilton Beach model, I can concentrate on food processing, not on trying to work the food processor. A few weaknesses - 1. Cord storage: a welcome concept but extremely stiff and hard to use. 2. Bowl scraper: food that sticks to the bowl also sticks to this scraper, so you still need a spatula, though none is included; also the scraper can’t be used with slicing or grating disks or the dough blade - only with the “S-blade” (for which it at least makes a good counter-top pedestal). 3. Motor and gear noise: no longer painfully shrill & piercing, but far from pleasant or reassuring. It sounds more like a workshop tool than a kitchen appliance. Vibration is noticeable even if not troublesome. 4. The lid: this still has internal bracing that food packs into, making washing up harder. The slicing disk has a similar problem. Multiple strengths - 1. The “stacking” design functions brilliantly, with components falling into place pretty much on their own (the lid, because of its gasket, resists slightly unless you open and close it with a prying motion using the feed tube as a lever); locking the stack in is a two-handed but otherwise effortless step. 2. The variable slicing disk is easy to adjust and use. It cuts cleanly and appears durable. (And it turns out really neat potato chips for air frying.) 3. Overall size and weight are moderate, therefore convenient for either on-counter or cabinet storage - and the metal latching arm makes a great handle for moving the unit. 4. Processing operations are generally very quick (though the blade should stop a bit sooner). 5. No adapters are needed when changing blades or disks - everything is built in and ready to go. Elements just drop into place and are mostly self-aligning. 6. The feeder tube is long and fairly large, without unnecessary safety devices (though a narrower carrot/celery feeder insert would be a welcome optional accessory). It easily accommodates medium sized Yukon Gold potatoes or a thick zucchini squash. 7. The lid gasket retains oils and other messy liquids effectively. 8. The included box for blade and disk storage is admirably compact. An ambiguous feature is the rubber suction cup design of the unit’s feet. They grip well enough and pry loose somewhat easily using the feeder tube or latching handle as a lever - but I could do without them. Maybe if I made dough or nut butters, I’d feel differently. Documentation is typical, meaning poor, but the learning curve for this model is short and the user’s experience is pleasant and low-fatigue. With a quieter motor and gearbox, this would be a five-star product. Even as it is, I’m glad I bought it and I expect to use it regularly and happily.

Some serious disadvantages for our use.
There were enough disadvantages to cause us to return the device. Most cutting appliances advise you to unplug the device while setting it up, but with this device it is very important. The ON/OFF/PULSE controls are light-touch levers, and can be easily turned ON accidentally. When you use the locking bar to secure the bowl, the processor could turn on if a switch is in the ON position and the processor was still plugged in. We found the locking bar was a little difficult to use. Although claiming the parts to be dishwasher safe, it warns you to not use the “SAN” cycle. Our dishwasher always reaches SANITIZE temperatures.

Most important thing to me is easy to use and easy to clean. UPDATE!
I used my HB Food Processor for the first time this morning. I love it. I must have read reviews on different food processors for weeks and the one thing that killed the purchase on many of them was they were unsanitary because you couldn't clean in the nooks and crannies. That is a deal breaker for me. This is dishwasher safe, but I prefer to wash and dry by hand. I made sweet potato bread in it this morning. The recipe is no yeast/no white flour. I have made this before, but not using a food processor. This made it so easy. Riced my sweet potatoes. I cut them into chunks, put them in the bowl and blended them first and then added the other ingredients. All the attachments are very user friendly and a breeze to wash. No hidden places for food to lodge and hide and that is important. The storage container is really nice and keeps the blades safe and sound. I can store it on its side right next to the processor so it leaves a small footprint. The only thing worth mentioning (and this is only if you are cooking for a large family) the machine is only 8 cup capacity. For me it isn't a problem, but if you are a bake-a-hollc, this may make a difference to you. All and all, very happy with it. It has some heft to it, but you don't need a forklift to move it around. The one I had years ago was so heavy I never used it. Lastly, I saw some folks ask if it was a problem for someone with arthritic hands? It probably depends on how severe you arthritis is. I don't have severe issues with arthritis, but I do have some problems. Honestly, I didn't have any trouble picking it up, putting on the counter, locking the lid or assembling and disassembling it after use. It is truly a very nice unit. UPDATE: Still happy with my purchase. I have riced cauliflower for cauliflower bread (eh - not the machine, pilot error on recipe), I have made frozen yogurt and it is fantastic. Easily used 4 cups of frozen fruit and made the most fantastic strawberry frozen yogurt. Next - peaches. Also have made sweet potato bread and it was so easy. 1. sweet potato chunks until "riced" 2. I put the eggs/coconut oil/maple syrup premixed. 3. All the dry ingredients premixed so it would be blended evenly. This was the 3rd time I made this and each time I tweaked how I added the ingredients. Every time it came out perfect. Still really love this appliance. UPDATE: While using my food processor today, the scraper broke and got caught in the upper blade. It was a clean snap. Can't repair. Scraper is now useless. I removed one star for this. It could have been dangerous, not just messy. I think the unit is damaged. Will check it out later.

Easy to use when you get used o it
This is a well-built product. The base is metal and the bowl and top are plastic, but heavy plastic which should last. Processing only starts when the locking arm is in place which requires that the bowl and cover are properly installed. The handle on the bowl is solid and there are no special parts to prevent incorrect operation, like the handle and rods on the Cuisinart which are the first parts to break! There was a learning period for my wife to get the locking arm in place as it has to be pushed up a plastic ramp, which is also made of heavy plastic and she has small hands. However, a few trials and now it goes easily. The handle, bowl and kid have to be correctly installed or the grinding will not start. The included parts seem to be all my wife needs. It makes lots of noise in operation, but grinding is grinding!

Good to go 100$CAD does all I need, small and large grater and adjustable slicer.
Most food processors don't have adjustable grater and 2 sizes of grater. This does. Works fast frighteningly so haha. Definitely good for home cooking in larger amounts. The bracket locking the canister is genius as well, you can use it as handle to put it under the sink. Tbh this is best. I would pay ~50$ more for cubed chopper disk for this. Very well thought out design IMO.

Does the job well
I mostly use this for finely chopping or pureeing onions and tomatoes. It does a pretty decent job for that. Does the job in seconds. The shredding and slicing attachments didn't work to my expectations so I just don't use them.
