Versatile and useful
Bought this to go with the Vitamix Ascent blender I purchased recently. Was impressed with the power of my blender and did not want to buy/store a separate food processor appliance. Due to the assembly/disassembly needed for use and storage, it is maybe a little less convenient than having a separate food processor - if you have the storage space. However, this unit provides more processing functions (slicing, grating, etc.) and it stores fairly compactly. As with all Vitamix products, it has a rather high price point but seems well designed and durably constructed. BTW, handle those slicer blades carefully - they are razor sharp. I was disappointed that after recently buying several Vitamix products, they suddenly discontinued their rewards program so I never got to use mine.

Great quality appliance incompatible with EU machine
From the build quality perspective, this appliance is great - neatly made, looks sturdy, has everything you need for everyday cooking. The only problem is that I cannot use it! And I can only blame myself as I made a terrible mistake ordering this one from the Amazon US for my brand new Vitamix 2500i ASCENT purchased from Amazon DE in Europe (I’m in EU). When I unboxed and installed the appliance on my Vitamix/EU, it nicely fitted in place but refused to work; it looked like the motor base does not recognise the appliance. I changed to the blending bowl which was delivered as a unit with my Vitamix/EU and it worked perfectly, but this Food Processor Attachment did not. It turns out the Amazon page contained the information that the appliance is compatible only with the Vitamix-es purchased in US/CA only, but unfortunately I missed it. And that was my mistake. When they said it is compatible only with the devices manufactured for US/CA only, they meant it - it does not work on the device manufactured for Europe. Alas, I could not find the food processor attachment in Amazon DE store so I was so happy (and naive) to order it from US. As I learned later from the Vitamix FAQ, they are just "... working to design Blending Cups and Blending Bowls for use with A2300i, A2500i, and A3500i machines in Europe, and will announce the release of those containers at a later date." So, if you’re from EU looking for the food processor attachment in US store, beware - don’t repeat my mistake.

Must have if you already have the base
If you already have the Vitamix Blender, then you will have the base to use this. Make sure to check the model numbers so this attachment will work.

What a great surprise!!!!!
Had and old food processor with all the pieces that come with it and when the lid broke ( it was a hand me down) i tried to replace but the machine was too old no pieces available…. I have a Vita Mix that I love!!!! Have the liquid cup and grain cup, i make my own almond butter and it comes out great!!! So, when i saw they offered the food processor equipment …… i love it!!!! It only uses the VitaMix base of the two latest models…. Check if you have the correct model!!!!

I got this because my extremely old Breville food processor died and I had recently bought an expensive Vitamix blender. I didn't want to fork out for another expensive appliance, but I lie quality tools and when I saw this attachment and thought I could get away with it. I was wrong. It It's an interim measure at best. Doesn't have the power or functionality I need for my everyday cooking. Regrets...

compact storage - a winner
Designers and engineers deserve a pat on the back for this one. It sits neatly on our counter and not stored away in pieces. Easy access and storage makes it too useful to ignore. Two shred disks supplied are fine for most uses. Additional disks are available for purchase for the more creative.

Not compatible with my English vitamix
Although the write up said it was compatible with my machine it wasn't. Very disappointed ????. Sent back for full refund.

SAFETY ISSUE: Bowl Not Locked to Motor Unit!!!
The media could not be loaded. Normally I do not post a review until I have thoroughly used something and given it time to be tested. I used my Vitamix Food Processor bowl for the first time today and am so alarmed at the outcome, I am posting this right away to warn everyone of a MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! Love my Vitamix blender attachment. Have used it extensively in the year that I’ve owned it. With that positive experience, it was a no brainer for me to buy the Vitamix food processor bowl to replace my 25 yr old Kitchen Aid Food Processor. The KA’s motor still works fine but the bowl broke and I can’t replace as it’s out of production. The KA bowl locks and stays firmly in place on the motor/drive unit. I was expecting the same standard (secure placement on motor) out of the Vitamix. NOT SO!! This unit is just placed on top of the motor without any locking mechanism to hold in place. Of course, the Vitamix blender unit sits the same way (without a lock) and it has no issues with staying in place, so when I first saw the set up for the food processor bowl, I figured perhaps the Vitamix engineers had figured out how to make that system work for a food processor. As you can see in the video, they haven’t! If the unit becomes at all unbalanced while processing, and isn’t being manually held in place IT WILL DETACH FROM THE MOTOR / DRIVE UNIT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE and I can’t believe Vitamix has overlooked this in the design. I can see it would be an easy fix by adding a pressure lock on each of the 4 corners of the Smart base. I did read about this issue in some other reviews before purchasing but they did not indicate just how bad the issue is. In order to operate safely, you must hold the bowl unit during the entirety of operation. How will this work when, for example, I want to push carrots down the feed chute (one hand on carrots, one hand on pusher…I guess a third hand is needed)??? So, yes, easy to clean (dishwasher) and powerful (as expected from Vitamix) but this one issue is making me rethink my purchase and I will go get a KitchenAid or similar for the same price (including the motor unit). Also, I can see that the lid lock mechanism is going to break within a short time…the clasps are really really tight and you have to pull very hard to get them to loosen. Fear the plastic will snap. A twist lock, rather than a snap lock, would be much more effective. Overall, given Vitamix’s superior quality in their blender product: very disappointed with this unit and I’ve only used it once!

1 speed blender
You get what your pay for, great addition , it’s a little pricey. I would have given it 5 star, if it was around 150$ +- also, have in mind, only does 1 speed .

Not compatible with European base
The product is beautiful and high end most likely really useful in a modern kitchen. Unfortunately not compatible with Base sold in Europe and had to return .this is the reason for 4 stars otherwise probably a 5 star plus product
