A work horse in the kitchen
I’ve used simpler machines and more complex. This one leans toward simplicity of use. I like two level cutting blades. Wish it had a feed spout to discharge into a bowl. Perfect size for veggie prep when making soups or dinner.

Excellent mini-food processor, doesn't fully replace large food processor or blender
This product is exactly what it says it is, a “mini” food processor, so I will review it based on that fact alone. If you are looking to replace a full size, say 8-10 cup food processor or full sized blender for 100% of your jobs, this is not the appliance for you, so it is not fair to judge it otherwise. This food processor slices small amounts of vegetables, shreds small amounts of cheese, and makes a nice sized smoothie, about 16-20 ounces, and it has a smaller footprint on your kitchen counter. It does all this pretty well, although it does not blend ice very well. It does have one design flaw though, as mentioned in other reviews, the small plastic alignment tab in the lid, which my wife broke off THE VERY FIRST TIME SHE USED IT. This is an engineering design flaw that a safeguard such as this could break so easily. I just took the broken piece and jammed it in the handle to bypass the cutoff switch, problem solved, but the only ding I can call out on this appliance; shame on Hamilton Beach for designing this piece to be so fragile. That's why I only gave it 4 stars and not 5. If you’re thinking well I don’t need a full sized food processor or blender so I’ll just make a double batch, I think you’ll be frustrated and blame the appliance, which again really isn’t fair. It is what it is, nothing more. We owned a large food processor for about a year, using it twice, then packing it away. It was just too much and this is just about enough. Same with my blender, used to make smoothies and now it sits in storage.

Doesn’t stay attached
You can’t pull it by the handle. It doesn’t stay attach to the black piece. You have to use both hands to pick it up. My first one didn’t work once I put in dishwasher, so ordered another one cause it’s small. I wouldn’t order again.

Does as much as the big guys
About 35 years ago I bought a huge Cuisinart food processor. I was so excited. I paid $300 for it at a time when that was about 25 percent of my monthly income. I used it for a few years and loved it. In one of my many moves it got packed away, and I have yet to unpack it. (I guess first I have to find it in my storage locker somewhere in order to unpack it.) All these years I have been reluctant to buy any kind of food processor because of the guilt I have felt over having that Cuisinart somewhere not being used. I had convinced myself that chopping vegetables and grating cheese by hand is a noble endeavor. After recently hand grating a pound and a half of longhorn cheese for some macaroni and cheese for a group, I decided it was time to bite the bullet. But really didn’t need anything big. Problem is, most of the small ones only chop. Had been looking for one that also shredded… And the fact that it slices is a bonus. Have been using this for a few months now, and it got through Thanksgiving like a champ and just now helped me through a large Christmas party. It’s true because of the size I have to do things in batches, but generally use it only for me so rarely will I have to do big jobs with it. I am so impressed with this little thing. It really works well! It seems to do most of the same stuff that my big Cuisinart did. Even better, it doesn’t leak at the bottom when you put liquid in it . And the blade is superior in that it has several levels so that it chops more than just the stuff at the bottom. The strong suction cups are a huge help. If this thing breaks tomorrow, I’ve more than gotten my money’s worth. And at this rate, I could buy about 10 of them for what that original Cuisinart cost. In fact, in today’s economy I could probably buy the equivalent of 30 of them and still come out ahead!

Good size for small jobs
Big enough for small jobs. Hate to get the big food processor out for smaller jobs. This processor does a good job and is powerful enough.

Arrived with small plastic peice that locks the lid on the base broken
I returned it/never used it. I didn't ask for a replacement because the VERY small piece of plastic that has to latch for the unit to run broke in shipment (in a perfectly undamaged box), I figured it wasn't going to be sturdy enough for my household!! Guess I'm stuck with buying one of the larger size food processors!

Pleased my hard to please Mom!
Purchased this as a gift for my Mom when her larger food processor died (she never liked the larger size). She loves this smaller food processor. She says it is easy to use, easy to clean, and makes her happy. She uses it alot and it keeps up with her. She loves the smaller size and ease of putting it away in the cabinet.

Good compact food processor
First of all, I received a damaged item (the clip on the lid was broken), so I requested for a replacement. There was more inconvenience coming along with the replacement item (missing part, scratches on the bowl, tiny crack on the plastic of the blade part, a button that's a bit stubborn), but Amazon customer service was very helpful and attentive in solving my problem, and I very much appreciated their empathetic responds and satisfying solutions. Now about this product, I think the size is perfect for me. It's small, but not too small like the 1.5 cup mini food processors in the market, also not too big to take up much kitchen space. I only cook for myself and my husband, so I don't need big serving capacity, and I think 4 cup is the way to go. I like the shape of the blade that allows it to chop and blend more evenly. The first time I used it, I tried to chop bell peppers. Unfortunately I overdid it and turned it into purée. The motor is quite powerful for the size, and you really don't need to hit the chop button too many times if all you want to do is chopping, otherwise you'll have purée instead. The shredder/slicer works well too. You just have to insert a smaller amount and size of food at a time. The lid has a rubber seal that prevents leakage, which is a good thing. But it also makes opening the lid requires a little bit of force (because the rubber is really tight). This product boasts its stack and snap system that's advertised to be more convenient than twist and lock in most food processors and blenders, which I think is true. The bottom part of the cup is not attached or locked into anything when you run the machine. There's a plastic piece in the cup handle that sticks into the motor body when you close the lid (a piece of plastic on the lid pushes down this piece of plastic in the cup handle), that triggers the safety mechanism so that the motor will run, but that's all. So you can just lift up the cup and the motor will stop working. That's convenient while still being safe. All of the parts are easy to clean, and dishwasher safe (I wash them manually in hot water and soap). I think this product is perfect if you can't afford to have a bigger food processor due to lack of space, or just don't need a big one. The only concern here in my opinion is durability. The clips on the lid feel a bit flimsy, and it seems like if you don't handle them gently they'll break quite easily because of the shape of the clips. And the bigger concern is with the safety mechanism. Basically if the little piece of plastic on the lid or on the cup handle broke, the motor would not turn on. And judging from the size, shape and position, it could happen quite easily if you don't handle it with care. Bottom line, this seems like a good product and mine works well so far. My advice is to handle this food processor gently. Hopefully it will last reasonably long. Good luck. :)

Love my little mixer!
This is such a great little mixer at such a great price! It’s perfect for leaving on my counter for everyday mixing and chopping/slicing or shredding. I love how it came with different attachments and I can slice, chop, and shred all with this. It mixes perfectly too. I have a big heavy food processor, but it’s so big and bulky I don’t always feel like hauling it out. This is so nice and compact, it’s super easy to use. And the lid snaps on nice and tight. It’s not like my older food processor that had to slide and lock, and at times would jolt apart while I was using it and scare the heck out of me. This one is completely safe and secure. It even has little suction cup feet on the bottom so you can’t slide it on the counter. It’s VERY safe feeling. The snap lid has to be in place for it to work, it’s a great safety feature. It’s really easy to clean up too. I hand wash the blades; I find the dishwasher too caustic on blades and wears them out much quicker. But otherwise I would put everything else in the dishwasher. It’s not designed to crush ice or spices. And it’s recommended to freeze cheese like mozza for 30 min prior to shredding. It does make great smoothies though! This has been a great purchase and I would definitely buy it again. Highly recommend.

Love it!! Such a useful little appliance.
I’m in love!! I’ve wanted one of these for ages and finally bought myself one as a mother’s day gift! Lol. I couldn’t wait to get it out of the box. It’s so cute and works so well. It was easy to put together and use right out of the box. I happened to be making tacos tonight so I used it immediately to make homemade salsa, chop onions and my favourite-grate cheese!! It grated almost half a brick of cheese in about 5 seconds!! It’s compact and quiet and I love it and would definitely recommend!!

Super!
I ordered this to replace a very old mini food processor that died on me. I wasn’t sure if the quality would be there but the price was right. Well, I really love this unit! Much easier to use with the snap lock system and it handled grating hard parmesan cheese with no problem at all. It also has a good quality feel to it. Only time will tell how long it will last, but I think I have a winner here!
