Love it!!!
We purchased one from another manufacturer and the kettle broke. We weren't able to replace the kettle so we had to buy a whole new setup. I'm so glad that we did! Never would I think that the popcorn popper would make a difference in the flavor and it has! The kernels are crispy and delicious whereas the other machine would often jam in the hopper and the corn would come out soft and less "fresh" tasting. We are using the same popcorn as before. It's very easy to clean as well. We put about a 1/2 cup of water in the hopper, heat it up until it boils, and let it steam up the inside of the popper. We then just wipe everything down, pour out the excess water, and then wipe out the inside. So easy! If you're debating between this and one of the other brands this one will not disappoint.

Beautiful, flavor
We had a smaller popcorn maker we received for Christmas, which was great. It broke so we purchased this one. We've been trying to get the movie theater flavor out of our old machine and just couldn't get it. The flavor of the popcorn this machine makes is amazing, and very few kernels. The kernels are fully popped with very few skins that get stuck in your teeth. It's super easy to assemble, came well packaged and keeps the popcorn warm. We absolutely love it and will purchase again.

Theater at home
Box had some damage during delivery though Everything was intact. The only thing I worked on and saw this in a review was that on door wouldn't line up and had to use small washers too but worked out well no dent or scratches. One thing to keep in mind is if you decide to only use it on a table top and not purchase the wheeled cabinet place a peace of cardboard under it to prevent scratching your surface with these little lock tabs under the popcorn machine

Perfect size for a family
We bought this to replace our old cart popper. The 10oz size is perfect and addressed our biggest concern with the 8oz. Unpopped kernels. The 8oz kettle was far too small (Shallow). It would routinely allow for 1/4 to 1/3 of the kernels you put in to be thrown out by popping kernels. We would routinely run an almost full serving after 2 runs just to re-pop the kernels that had been ejected. The 10oz has a full inch deeper kettle. This extra depth means that only the popped kernels come out. The unpopped ones stay in the kettle until they are popped. I only gave it 4 stars due to construction deficiencies. When we unboxed the popper it came over all Chinese on us.. Meaning it needed adjustment in the doors, tray, top, pretty much everywhere. Don't take this the wrong way. It is constructed sturdily enough and we suspect it will last a good long time and the glass case and doors are a welcome upgrade from our old plastic ones.. But the fact that you have to perform quality control and adjust the fit and finish to finish the construction job means I take away a star. Other than that it's a fantastic little unit that does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Works great!
Once I reassembled the popcorn popper head unit and put the glass rubber edging in the proper position, the unit worked great. I used 1 cup of kernels and had good results. I tried more than 1 cup (also increasing the oil as directed), but ended up with many ‘old maid’ kernels, and popped but burnt shell popcorn. So 1 Cup is the sweet spot. In hindsight I wish I bought the unit that included the cart as this unit is large and not kitchen countertop friendly. I built a side table for it to sit on which works fine, but had I bought the matching cart, then I would have storage for the accessories that ship with this popper. If you want popcorn that tastes like it was from your local theatre lookup a product called flavacol, and use it with coconut oil , medium butterfly popcorn; and this popper.

This was a replacement of one we had which was still working great after ten years. (it walked out of our house) We loved everything about it. The quality is good, the construction is good. This one will last forever.

Great Northern is the better popcorn machine. I should know I bought both.
If you’re wondering whether to purchase this model or the Bullseye 8oz. I bought both So I might be able to shed a little light on your decision. At first I bought the Bullseye 8oz Machine simply because I saw it first and didn’t bother to look any further. The machine arrived used and damaged and customer service from Bullseye was a nerve racking experience. In contrast the Great Northern Machine is larger and for the price point difference of $30 it is a better size for my home theatre. While it’s true it doesn’t take very long to make a second batch, I find a 10 ounce machine is perfect for when we have visitors over for Movie Night. Last week we had 12 teens/adults and it was perfect.

Great Northern has the worst Customer Service of any Brand I have ever seen
Bought this machine for Christmas. After setting up and using it the first time the popcorn scoop became badly discoloured. I tried going through the toll free number I got from Amazon and from the manual and it is a fax. Nobody answers it. Then I went online to try and find out who can help me. The customer service website demands you put in a US address and zip code or it doesn't work. I finally got in touch with someone who says I have to pack up the entire unit and send it back to Amazon because they don't provide any service or stock any parts because the entire units just arrive boxed from China and are distributed. This is not a real company, just a shell. If you have anything wrong with this you need to repackage the entire unit and send it back. For something that is pretty flimsy this is a real risk. I recommend everyone stay away from anything Great Northern and go to another more reliable vendor.

Perfect right out of the box
Right out of the box it made two batches of perfect popcorn... Bought for home use and it seems like it will do the job nicely. Only criticism is the door handles, they are very thin gauge stainless so the flex a great deal when you open the door.

Gaps between glass and metal sides
Inside edges need to be caulked where the glass is because the pieces of popcorn get in between it making it difficult to clean.

Not a 10oz but ovrall nice machine
I've had the machine for almost two weeks now and made popcorn a total of eight times. The packaging was decent and there were no damaged or missing parts. Assembly is minor and doesn't require any tools. It's made in China and the quality assurance is obvious with doors not aligning and few other small imperfections. It's quite large and nice. I was debating between and 8oz and 16 oz so when I found this 10 oz I figured it was just a perfect in-between. In my opinion, the machine is fairly quiet and the warmers work very well. The kettle says it's a 10oz so I purchased these 8oz pre-packaged packs. The very first batch was over half burnt and old maids made up half the bag. That was because there were too many and the kettle blocks. I tried it three times that first night until I got it right, which ended up being to empty 6oz of an 8oz pack in the kettle. That worked perfectly but a bit disappointed since you expect a 10oz machine to take 8oz bags, otherwise it will overwhelm the kettle and block it and cause it all to burn. A bit annoying. It's a little difficult to empty the bags in the kettle and you have to be careful not to burn yourself. They probably assume not many people after assembly will want to repack and return the item either. So I removed a star for the fact that it's not a 10oz or even 8oz but I did not remove any for the crooked doors and other small imperfections. Once you get it popping properly, making popcorn is pretty quick (about 2 mins however the first time requires pre-heating the machine for 2-3 minutes) and easy and there are practically no unpopped maids. Furthermore, the holes at the bottom make it easy for the old maids to be captured to the drawer which makes for a more pleasurable eating experience altogether with no old maids in your container. Cleanup is somewhat easy. Hot water makes everything just slide off the finish and cleans up well. The problem is again with quality where there are small gaps between the window and metal bottom where popcorn pieces get stuck in between and vacuuming doesn't work, you have to get in there with a screwdriver or other object to get the popcorn out. Perhaps a bead of some non-toxic heat resistant caulking, if it exists, would fix the problem but one would have to read up on that. So overall a nice machine that looks great in a Home Theatre. Great that it comes with measuring spoons, a scoop, and three plastic re-usable / washable popcorn containers and some disposable popcorn bags. We are heavy users so I hope it truly is commercial quality and that it will last but this only time will tell. Update: Probably the worst customer service ever. Instead of just returning the machine I tried to contact the manufacturer. I explained the kettle problem and asked if it can indeed take an 8oz bag. They emailed me back to film the whole thing and send it to them not answering any question. I emailed back and said I had no problem providing proof of purchase but that I did not need to film in order to get a simple question answered. That I was going to return the machine. They answered back thanks and if I have any questions to contact them again. Huh? I did have a question. So a big zero for customer service. I will be returning the machine.
