Modded for my el-cheapo electric weedeater, still worked great!
OK Here's the dealio... I was going to post a four star review because while this unit worked well.. my trimmer was way too underpowered resulting in trimming that took a lot longer than I expected. I was also going to mention how two of the three blades snapped in half during the process. But I just took a closer look at my trimmer and noticed that wasn't the case at all! Sure the tips are a bit worn but the three blades are worn evenly and lost maybe 5% of their total length. I guess maybe the angle of the blades made them look broken at first? I dunno. Regardless.. these things are pretty cool! I had to "retrofit" the unit onto my el-cheapo electric weedeater as the supplied nuts wouldn't fit the extremely coarse threads on the shaft.. so I fabricated a plastic nut as my weedeater is so cheap and underpowered that's what it used originally. BUT it did eventually work. The head seems to be extremely well balanced with very little vibration.. which is surprising because the shaft is a little bit thinner than this was designed for so I know it can't possibly be sitting perfectly centered.. but whatever. Long story short.. even though my weedeater is WAY underpowered for this application it still worked great! Sure there were a few weeds it couldn't cut through (actually it's more like I quit trying because I was afraid of damaging the blades) but the few weeds that were still up suffered the fate of the sheer god... not a big deal. These blades just ripped through brush and grass and (thankfully) didn't cut through my refrigerant lines at my A/C unit. Yes I did have to constantly back up and let my weedeater spin back up before going at it again but this was a limitation of my weedeater.. not of these blades. The instructions specifically state that this isn't for electric units so I can't take a star off for that. I knew what I was getting into when I bought this.. and the results turned out much much better than expected!

Works well
I wasn't expecting much since this head was being used on an old Bolen BL100 my son rescued from a job site but I must admit I was surprised by how well it worked. It went on easily, fit pretty well on the Bolen but did not totally replace the old head unit. This meant it was lower than the guard on the trimmer and when it's running you better be wearing some pretty heavy pants a long sleeve shirt and eye/face protections (common sense). As far as cutting this thing is a beast even on the lower power trimmer. It cut through every thing; heavy grass, vines, and small saplings up to 1/2 thick. The only real issue, was because of the fit, vines would wrap around the head and have to be cut off with hand knife or snips. I gave it a 4 star rating not due to the performance but for the way it fit on the cheapo Bolen trimmer which isn't the trimmer head's fault.

Too many downsides
I bought this because I was sick of wrestling with string that always seemed to get caught and didn't come out when I tapped the trimmer. It does go on with no tools and was pretty easy to do. There are some noticeable downsides however, first the way this attached to the trimmer left a large set off which made it impossible to trim close to the ground. The setoff is about 3 inches and that means this thing leaves everything looking pretty ragged. Second, this is the light duty version, but it struggled to cut grass. It did better with thicker brush, but just flattened grass. Lastly the nylon used on the blades wears too quickly. In about the same amount of uses before I would have to tap a string trimmer, the blades got noticeably shorter. I'm using this on a ryobi bent rod consumer grade trimmer, on standard brush and weeds. I'm going back to a string assembly, just maybe a better version than the ryobi came with.

No more string trimmers, ever
The gator is awesome, and well worth the price. I detest string trimmers and the bumping on the ground and the frustration in reloading. This fixes all of that, and works like a charm. It's easy to install, easy to use, and is more effective than string. The only thing I haven't had to do yet is replace one of the blades. That might change my review if that's a pain, but I doubt it will be given the success of the product in general. Last point. Compared to string trimmers, the gator is probably more dangerous. A haven't tested this as it would require trying to hurt myself with the thing. It just looks kind of mean and nasty in motion, almost like a saw blade for grass. Eye protection is a requirement, and follow the safety instructions to the tee.

this is a great product at a great price
I have to admit, this is a great product at a great price! The delivery was fast, the seller emailed promptly when it shipped. As soon as I received the blade I put it on my weed eater and the attachment it came with took less than 5 minutes to put on. It fit just right and was well balanced. It cut through the tall grass like a hot knife thru butter. It went through thick weeds with no problems. I bumped it up against the wooden fence and the concrete wall, and to my suprise there was no damage to the blades. I fully recommend this product, and most of all, buy it from this seller!

Fits my Remington RM2510 but doesn't work well for me
This fits my IRemington RM2510 Rustler 25cc 2-Cycle 16-Inch Curved Shaft Gas Trimmer This works alright but doesn't seem to work well for my needs. Instead of cutting some of my weeds, it ended up just getting tangled and spinning the weeds into the blade and getting stuck instead of cutting them. I'm going to just put back on my "wire" adapter instead of this for most of my needs.

Great weed eating capabilities! Not a discount concrete saw!
The Gator does not cut through sidewalks, brick edging, concrete walkways, or even asphalt! I was surprised to discover in my attempts to trim my home foundation that this was not up to the task of a concrete saw. How unreasonable! It does however work its way through even the toughest weeds around my place. There were some 6 foot tall hens-bane/milkweed/big-aye-weeds (Proper name? I'm no botanist) that it made quick work of. It's much quicker at sawing through them than string has ever been. The adapters and instructions were clear and worked well. I had no issues trading out the string for the Gator.

Perfect replacement
Instructions were a little vague but not totally useless, the product works perfectly for knocking down taller weeds. Overall I'm impressed.
