Good for diy scrapbook albums
This is sturdy and makes great scrapbook album covers. I only wish I would have bought a smaller size. I cut it down and waste a lot

ELCTRONIC CUTTER WARNING: This chipbord is 0.05" thick NOT 0.03" !!! Too thick for cutting machines.
I'm using a KNK Zing cutting machine. Like most of these consumer-level cutting machines, it's really only designed to cut chipboard up to 0.03" thick and some makes of them won't even do that. In any case, if you have a electronic "die cutter" that costs less than $400 that "cuts chipboard", I can almost guarantee that what they mean is that it will cut 0.03" thick chipboard and not anything thicker. Usually the rollers and mat won't support that thickness regardless of the blade or cutting force. When I got around to using this stuff I noticed that it was thicker than it should be, and I actually measured its thickness with a micrometer. (I'm an engineer so I actually have one.) Exactly 0.05" thick, +/- 0.001" or so depending on humidity, etc. Somewhere I see that it's supposed to be 0.057" thick but for whatever reason mine isn't. (I know my micrometer isn't off by THAT much.) I measured some matte board that I have and this chipboard is as thick as the matte board. Luckily it's a good bit softer and less dense than matte board though. I don't know why I ordered this stuff thinking it was 0.03" thick. I thought surely I must have been sent the wrong item. Maybe I saw "medium weight" in another listing where it was defined as 0.03" in thickness, but now that I look at this listing again it doesn't give the thickness anywhere! Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think "medium weight" is any sort of industry standard term that specifically implies 0.05"-0.057", so the term is almost meaningless unless the manufacturer clearly defines it which they did NOT do in this listing. BAD! I'm still giving this four stars because I think it's good quality chipboard that would be perfectly good where 0.05" chipboard is needed. Arguably I should give it 3 due to the bad product listing, but I think that would mislead people about the fundamental product quality. So I'm being a bit "generous" here. Anyway, if you're using a consumer-level "electronic die cutter" (cutting plotter) you certainly want 0.03" chipboard likeLight Chipboard Sheets 12" x 12", 25/pkg . (I know nothing about that specific brand or product, I'm just linking to an example.) Also, check your cutter's specs to make sure it will even cut 0.03" thick chipboard because some very popular models like the Silhouette don't have the cutting force to deal with the thickness and density of even "light" 0.03" chipboard. With the KNK Zing I actually can manage to get it to cut this 0.05" thick stuff, but I have to calibrate the cutter perfectly and use exactly the right cutting force with a slow cutting speed and a multicut of *at least 5* if not more. The only reason this is even possible is that the Zing is a $400 cutter with supposedly the heaviest cutting force at it's price point of any make out there, but it's still difficult and you get some of the chipboard layers on the edges curling upward due to so many multiple cuts. Summary: pretty good quality chipboard, but very bad quality product listing! Do not expect this stuff to cut on regular consumer-level "electronic die cutters". You're really going to need a razor blade in a boxcutter handle or a traditional manual die cutter to cut this, or a $5000+ laser cutter. The listing may say that this stuff is suitable for "die cutting" but apparently this refers to the heavier manual-force traditional die cutters. I'll submit a request to get Amazon to update the listing. Perhaps it will be fixed by the time you read this.

Are you using to laser cut?
I liked this product and think it was a good value. I would recommend to others to use. One thing folks have brought up in other reviews is thickness. This material measure .050 inch Thick and provided the stiffness I needed. I needed this material to cut out parts on a laser cutter. Cuts nicely. The only thing I would bring up is there is a fine powder after cutting so be prepared to clean this up some. Otherwise works great with a laser cutter. One thing the supplier needs to be aware of was one corner of the stack of material was dented. This wasn’t really bad but it rendered some of the material useless. I recommend shipping in a box and not a bag.

Medium: Somewhere between thick and thin.
I bought the natural and black color of this product and aside from color, I found both to be identical so I'm posting the same review to each item. I agree with the complaints regarding the lack of detail on the thickness of the product. I'd like to thank PosionIvy for the review describing the thickness as just shy of 1/16". I bought this based on that review and it was accurate. What "Medium Weight" means . . . By PoisonIvy http://www.amazon.com/review/R34D5QDPM7ZKSY/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R34D5QDPM7ZKSY I ordered this in natural and black color and boards are consistently about 1/16". I'm measuring with a ruler so it may be just under 1/16" but it's too close for me to tell. My boards allow for just a little compression so how/where it was stored and handled will be a factor. In general, I'm quite happy with the product. I use mine to adhere printed card stock to for chits used in games. I've also used it to base papercraft wargaming terrain. I've used the same spray adhesive, tacky glue, and glue sticks that scrapbookers would use and I've been happy with the results. I've used rotary cutters, compass cutters, circle cutters, and snapblade cutters and while the compass cutter usages is a bit of an art I'm not yet well versed in, I find 2-3 soft cuts results in a very nice edge. On fresh snapblades, I have managed to perform single pass cuts. The need for additional cuts are mostly self-imposed as I'd rather take a couple careful cuts than risk botching it with a single pass cut. Once I'm out of stock, I will be ordering more of this.

Great but price keeps going up
Its works for what i use it for. No complaints other than the fact that in less than a year, the price has gone up by $6. I have to find an alternative now.

Aesthetically appealing chipboard
I run a typography and hand lettering artist. I use this chipboard for shipping cards and backings for my stationery. I LOVE this chipboard! I am continuously complimented on how sturdy and gorgeous it is! Highly recommend! side note: check out amazon warehouse (google it) and search for this there. It is usually on sale as well through joann fabric

Great for Scrapbooking
I purchased these to use for scrapbooking. The album I have is 6x12 so I did need to cut these in half, but that was easily accomplished with a rotary paper cutter. These are very thick and sturdy and provide nice support for heavy items. The black color also sets off lighter items nicely and makes them really pop. These do, however, shed for some reason, so be prepared for random bits of black cardboardy pieces falling off the edges when you take them out of the package. Overall, if you are looking for a high quality, matte black background for scrapbooking, this is a lovely option and I certainly recommend it.

good backing for vinyl picture discs
I have a dozen vinyl picture discs on display in my Rock Room. I’ve used these black pieces of cardboard as backing for those records. Most picture discs come in flimsy plastic covers that tend to crinkle up at the bottom corners. These are the perfect size (12”X12”) to slide in behind the albums in the plastic covers. I had to trim a couple of them just a sliver to fit, and that was no problem with regular scissors. Very sturdy cardboard. Now the albums are better protected, the collection looks uniform and no more flimsy corners.

Good product
Black colour suits my purpose. Heavy enough for my crafts. Great that this was on sale! Providing the weight would be a nice addition to the description.

Great quality chipboard - ideal for crafting
I bought this so I could make my own mini-albums and notebooks for craft fayres. This is very good quality chipboard which is easy to cut (I use my Fiskars trimmer to cut one side, flip it over and then cut through the other side). Although there are cheaper packs of chipboard available I think these are vfm because you get a decent quantity and at a good size (I bought the 12"x12" black chipboard). 100% will buy again.

Beautiful boards! Rich black colour
Beautiful boards! Rich black colour, smooth surface, and durable. The uses are numerable, but I like to use these for underpainting in multi-mediums. Coloured Pencils, pastels and arcrylic paint can work very well. Fair price for quality and fast shipping. Recommended
