Installation below 41deg or so usually doesn't work out with the tape.
Installation below 41deg or so usually doesn't work out with the tape. You will want to get this product on the house before the temps go lower than the 50's in the late fall. The first window I did this year was on a 41 degree day and I remembered this stuff is less workable than another more expensive product that I also use. My age doesn't help on those 2nd floor windows on the back of the house. That first window application came loose and is flapping around like a beat up flag already. If it doesn't completely detach and blow away, and a warm enough day comes along, I'll try again with a different roll of tape. It's me it not you.

It's OK, not everything you'd hope
First of all, pick a warm, dry day to install this. With any outdoor winterproofing, start before it actually gets cold, or you'll really hate it. Second, this product's marketing is a little misleading. It's not "stretch" in the sense that the film is elastic, because it isn't. It's "stretch" in that you stretch it taut over the window. Because it isn't elastic, that's not easy to do well. Possibly it's too hard to make an elastic film that would work in this application, but don't let the box give you the wrong idea. There are a few tricks to getting this stuff to work. Otherwise, you're wasting your time and money. The film does have to be pretty tight. It does have to be attached all the way around, without significant gaps. The tape does not seem to stick well at first, but if you can really smooth down the edges and let it sit in place, it sort of firms up. When you start, DO NOT run an edge of the plastic along the top of the patio door, because you'll find it's not really rectangular and it doesn't reach one of the other edges. Instead, unfold the plastic enough to make sure you have at least a few inches overlap on all sides. Then start at the center top and work outward and then downward. Look ahead to how you'll attach it to the bottom, which is tricky on some doors. And clean the edges with rubbing alcohol and let it dry before applying the tape. Even though this is an outdoor winter product, don't let the tape freeze before you use it. Sometimes the tape in these kits is shot and won't adhere. I've been told that this is because it froze and thawed at least once before it was sold. Once it's in place, it seems immune to freeze cycles. Beats me. If your plastic won't stick well, or if you get tears, buy Frost King weatherproof tape, which looks kind of like packing tape but is thicker, stretchier, and more forgiving. Use that to seal the edges and repair tears before they go too far.

Best one I've used.
The double sided tape is quick and effective. Grew up on staples and trim pieces. Installed on large picture window by myself with minimal issues.

Tape is faulty
Worked fine for a few weeks then the tape lost adhesion and let go. Will not order again.

Did not meet my expectations
I temporarily live in a newly refurbished 2nd floor apartment....refurbished with the exception of the windows, which are ancient, single pane units that are basically "anti-energy efficient". I had planned on buying a home before another mid-western winter set in,but with the horrible, unstable economy,I found myself gearing up for another cold season in the apartment. I decided to use insulating film over the windows this year, and read decent reviews on these kits. Also,I bought "outdoor" kits to be installed "indoors",thinking that if they were designed tough enough to withstand outdoor wind and debris, they should be excellent when installed indoors.Wrong.... There are pros and cons with these kits that I will list later, but my biggest issue is the absolutely crazy fragility of the plastic film once it is slightly stretched,as per the instructions. Once you get 2 or 3 sides attached and put the slightest "stretch" on the film,it becomes so fragile that you can too-easily pop a hole in it with just the tip of your finger.(I'm a man with short nails,so trust me when I say "finger tip...)And it won't just be a hole, but the stuff will tear and keep tearing just like a potato chip bag for several inches immediately. Both of the windows I've covered so far have masking tape repairs over accidental tears during installation. Also,if you plan on covering anything larger than a small 3'X5' standard window, you WILL NEED HELP.Otherwise you will ruin the film and your patience in one fell swoop. If ,by some twist of fate,I'm still in the apartment next winter,I won't even think about these kits--I'll just go to the hardware store and buy a roll of medium thick plastic sheeting and the same 3M two-sided tape, and save my sanity and a few bucks as well. PROS: Easy to see through, even with less than perfect installation Kits are true to advertised size Tape has good adherence and molds around nail heads, bumps in the paint or rough paint very well Even though folded in the package, the plastic film "flattens" out fairly easy when installing CONS: Super easy to tear when even slightly stretched;tears will run for inches Film is so thin and flimsy,it will "static cling" to almost any surface it gets near, making installation more difficult, hence the "help needed" as previously mentioned. The cost is not feasible considering how delicate the film is and difficulty of proper installation. I gave this product 2 stars due to the decent quality of the tape, and properly sized sheeting;however, unless you have dealt with this product before,I would not recommend it when there are tougher and less expensive alternatives at your local hardware store.

good
pretty straight forward but i've yet to come across two sided tape that makes it easy to remove the paper backing especially when you have to do it in hard to reach places

Waste of Money
Totally waste of money. Doesn't stick properly. The plastic is too thin and tears off easily. Threw it out, bought a shower curtain at the dollar store, problem solved.

Works perfectly.
I buy this exact item every fall to cover our patio doors in our bedroom. We don’t use it outdoors, but indoors instead. Super easy to install as the product is of very good quality. The tape goes on easy and adhering the poly is just as easy. Use a hair blower to make the wrinkles disappear and make taught. Bonus it comes off just as easy in spring. Tape too.

Très bien
The media could not be loaded.

worked well
created a nice seal, easy to use. Use a blowdryer for extra seal.
