outstanding value for the price
You can spend $40, $50, or more on a good ricer... if you're an idiot that is. For less than $10, this one is going to do everything you need it to do. More expensive models will tout their "super duper durable construction" and other nonsense - but let's face it, you're going to be squishing cooked potatoes, ripe bananas or other items of similar consistency through this - not using it to crush gravel. This ricer is great for those purposes. Running potatoes through a ricer will make your mashed potatoes more velvety smooth, and riced potatoes are much easier to incorporate into dough for gnocchi than ones run through a food mill or mashed with an old school masher. At this price, buy two... not because it will wear out, but because someone in your family will want one too.

Excellent value
I like that this potato ricer has interchangeable discs with different sized holes. It seems reasonably well made, but is a little hard on the hands. One of my favorite uses for it is in making banana bread. I don't like chunks of banana, so this really helped smooth out the texture. Not only would I buy this again, but have already done so, once for my mom and once because I misplaced the discs.

Handy Little Gadget
I use this potato ricer for making spaetzle. It is sturdy and allows the batter to come out in the size I wanted. I just wish it had a clip on the side to anchor it to the pot. Maybe I need a third arm, or perhaps I need to make my batter thicker. It's still a nice little product to have around. I would recommend it to anyone.

but something about German ice cream is so much better than American
I have been yearning for SpaghettiEis forever and yes, I know it's just vanilla ice cream with strawberry topping, but something about German ice cream is so much better than American. Anyway, I used this ice cream to make the "noodle" part of the SpaghettiEis and it worked great! I don't necessarily care for the removable plate because sometimes it lifts up when you open it to add more ice cream and gets a bit messy. I haven't used it for potatoes so I can say how it works there, but would imagine a soft, cooked potato is the same consistancy as ice cream so should work just the same.

Multi uses great value
Wanted a ricer to make Spätzle mashed potatoes etc. it has two plates (medium and small) so you have a choice of output thickness - although it is a wee bit clunky I love that it comes apart for easy washing and storing.

Use it to make spaetzle.
I use it to make spaetzle, which it does well enough. Wish the holes in the larger strainer insert were farther apart for that, as the strands of batter/dough sometimes stick together. Bit of a chore to clean, but it does a much better job with spaetzle than (the oddly common suggestion of) using a colander.

It does its job.
Pros: It rices potatoes really well Cheap Cons: I bent it really badly ricing potatoes Potatoes often end up getting the grate stuck to the "hammer" If you want a product for making perfect mashed potatoes but don't want to spend more money, this is your product. It does its job pretty damn well but if you do have more money i suggest going with a more expensive model. Something that doesn't look like you could break it when you add one too many potatoes.

Fox Run Ricer review by Chef Linda
For both the casual and the serious cook, the 10-inch Fox Run metal ricer does what it is intended to do and can easily handle large or small kitchen ricing jobs. Changing the ricer heads is simple and the unit is easy to operate and to hand wash/clean after use which is how I recommend users clean the item. I would be hesitant to wash the unit in a dishwasher since dishwasher powders tend to be harsh and they will probably etch or otherwise tarnish the metal. The company shipped the item quickly. Linda

Good for mash, but not great for baby purées
I bought this to aid in purée making for my youngest child, hoping to use it to squish sweet corn and remove the husks, it didn't work great for this purpose, hence the three stars, however it did make great mash when I used it for that!

My wife has always wanted a ricer and I wanted ...
My wife has always wanted a ricer and I wanted to get a spaetzle maker, so instead of shelling out a lot of money for a high-end German spaetzle maker, I picked this one out as the price was right. After using it a couple of times, I'm actually impressed with the quality at this price point.

The lump free mashed potato.
The ricer appears well made and sturdy. The smooth mashed potato makes me feel rather like a real chef! Not bad for someone of a more senior age!!
