We like having this steamer insert and find the quality fits our needs. One of the things that makes this steamer or strainer neat is the compact design. It fits nicely in our cabinet without taking up a ton of space like a traditional steamer or strainer would. The other feature I really enjoy is the ring and post in the middle that you can use a utensil to grab and lift out the particular item you are steaming. The bottom posts give adequate room for adding liquid to your pot to create steam and heats up quickly. Although the steamer has tarnished some from repeated and heavy use, I don't find it excessive or due to a lack in quality. We do tend to wear them out after time, but still like it and get our money's worth out of it. It also cleans up nicely and I think it's easy to use.

Stainless Steel but cheaply put together.
Nice steamer but you'll notice as you open it up - it bends where the "petals" join the base. It's soft, so it doesn't snap but I wonder if this will affect its longevity. Very stiff so not necessarily cheap but badly assembled. Okay for however long it will last. Considering its price, I'd think it would be better made.

Perfect size for me
Perfect size for me...not too big. If eating veggies for a snack (that i don't want raw) or if they aren't getting added to a dish (in other words...as a side), I definitely prefer steaming. Boiling veggies seems to seep out vitamins and nutrients. This easily fits into various pots. The legs are of a good height, where you don't have to keep adding water as it boils away. Folds down compact for easy storage.

Only 11 inch I could find but still is flimpsy
Could have a better design. The legs arrived bent and I straightened them but I'm not entirely sure how long this will hold up to cooking and washing. The quality seems about average but not too terrible for the price I paid for it.

Evidence of rust after first use.
This arrives bright and shiny in the package, but it also claims to be Stainless Steel and dishwasher safe. I don't know about the material, but I do know that when I took this steamer out of the dishwasher after its first use, there were small circles of what could only be rust run off in the area where the folding sides meet the base. I would not recommend purchasing this steamer. Update June 2014. One of the petals on this steamer has now broken off, and the rust continues to spread.

All Steamed Up
This steamer is absolutely perfect for all my steaming needs.. I dont have to have a specific size pot or pan I can steam what ever i need to and we all know that steam cooks very fast and leaves all the nutritional values intact.. Gotta Love It.. :) Mrs. Bliss

Does what it's intended for
Hard to clean but great for large quantity baby food prep. Much more convenient than large steamer appliances however in our small kitchen.

Great size for larger pots.
This fits nicely in my 12" diameter stock pot and leaves very little room for veggies to fall down between the steamer and the pot sides. With the standard 9" size steamer, it was always an issue.

Does the job. Good steamer.
Not much to say about it - it's a steel steamer. We use it for everything from corn, string beans, to Chinese steamed buns. The center stem can be removed if you want it out of the way when steaming something larger.

Absolutely necessary for steaming to taste
I got 3 different sizes - all needed for not only different diameter pots but also so that your veggies do not slide off and get wasted by being boiled rather than steamed. Good stuff !!
