Great for plants that have deep roots.

Have not have a chance to use it yet. I am replacing a similar one that fell off the deck and broke. You have to be careful with what you plant in this type of planter. I planted Zinneas which got quite large, then a high wind day pulled it off the deck. I plan on planting Zinneas again, but this time I am going to tie a tight bungie cord from the side to side next spring to hold it to the deck.

Make sure you get the correct color!!

I ordered 3 of these planters several months ago. They take a beating from the sun and still the color hasn't faded a bit. I loved them so much that I ordered two more to match, in Mocha color. However, Amazon sent me two planters that were a pinkish white color. Inspecting the bar code, it clearly said "Mocha". However, upon closer inspection and in peeling up the label - was the original label "Champagne" color. Explaining this to Amazon, they sent me two more planters (Amazon is always wonderful about these things). Upon arrival they were yet again the incorrect color. This time only one of the planters had a partial bar code under the "Mocha" label, and you guessed it - "Champagne". Make sure you are getting the correct color! The "Mocha" color is far more natural and elegant than the "Champagne" color (I find the Champagne color to look "cheap"). Also the replacement shipment was even more misleading because someone along the shipping lines -nearly- removed the original labels. I likely would have never realized this had I not previously purchased 3 of them months ago. Make sure you are getting the right color! The Mocha color is the one in the photo (at least, it is as I write this). And if you are curious, the "Champagne" color is exactly the color of this planter (made by Akro-Mills)Akro-Mils MSA08000A15 Marina Planter, Champagne White, 8-Inch The link is just a color reference. Other than that, these planters are great!

Great handrail look!

I am really enjoying this planter, which I bought for a brand new handrail this summer. It has held up well, and despite its odd shape it has had enough space to accommodate several plants quite well (it's currently housing a sweet potato fine, a petunia plant, and a prostrate rosemary plant, and some sort of unknown purple vine that someone gave me a start of). It's August now and the plants have done well ever since I planted them in April. I was a little worried about root space (there is a deep "H" shape to accommodate the rail) and the possibility of it falling off the rail, but both of these worries were unfounded. We'll see how it holds up. This is season one. Since it is not exactly cheap, I hope I'll get a couple more seasons out of it.

Perfect Fit

Perfect fit for deck railing planters, we planted strawberries in one and sun patiens in the other and they're growing in leaps and bounds. I've very pleased with this planter and hope to order more for next reason

Sturdy and well-designed

I had bought three of these at a local store last year and wanted more this year, but the store no longer sold them in green. I ordered more off of Amazon hoping they'd be the same, and I was not disappointed! These fit on my deck railings very securely with no hardware needed. My railings are the wider size so it sits pretty shallow, but they're sturdy enough to stay put even in bad weather. They also fit a lot of soil and plants. The green color matches my green table, chair, and umbrella set.

Almost Perfect

Beautiful-looking planters (I bought two in the mocha color) that sit snugly on my 5 1/2" deck rails. I put driveway gravel in the troughs to make them heavy enough for gale-force winds and to assist in aeration for the roots. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is the placement of the drainage holes. There should be two on one side, above the water reservoir. Holes on the bottom create two problems: 1.) the drips do not clear the deck, so I have to hose those areas, and 2.) bottom placement makes water retention difficult - impossible if you removed all 4 plugs. I will plug the holes next year and drill holes on the outer side. I have similar planters that I paid too much for on another deck (had to drill holes in them because they had none to start with) - these are prettier and I would definitely purchase again.

Size listed is incorrect.

Product is as advertised with the exception of the size. It is 24” long and is listed as 16” in the product description. The product is good quality.

Fits well, a bit shallow on inside

3 out of 4 received in 1 piece, the other a bit broken. No sense making a claim. Used a bit of glue and tape mostly fixed it up. The planter is a bit shallow in the middle. Will see if the plants/flowers are able to root and grow okay. A little pricey.
