Nice, small, adaptable filter
I posted photos with my review so you can see exactly what came in the package. If you look at my photo with all the pieces laid out you can see what I received. In my photo with the diagram and the pen, you can see the items apparently specified to come with the Rio Aqua Pump Mini 50. I received two additional pieces in my package (pictured): an elbow piece (that doesn't fit) and the "discharge adapter with Venturi jet and flow control." I was very happy to have the flow control as I have a Betta fish and wanted to slow down the flow in my Betta's little 2.5 gallon tank. I opted for the Rio Mini 50 over other filters with more detailed descriptions and better reviews, as I wanted a very small filter to take up less space in my tank. I put a baffle (first a sponge and then a different type of homemade baffle) on the end of the "discharge adapter with flow control" to further disperse the flow. My Betta is no longer being blown all over the tank. People have commented that they don't know what the air stopper piece on the discharge adapters is--it's to attach the air tubing to if you wish to create a Venturi fountain/flow. I'm not using it. It's described well enough in the directions. My last photo is to show that you can apparently purchase and attach additional filters, if you want to. The filter's suctioning is not strong and is actually imperceptible. The flow out of the discharge adapters is quite strong, however. As the suctioning is through the slats in the filter and not through a round suction piece, there is no way for a Betta to be sucked in. I removed part of the sponge and added some different filter media to the filter compartment. The motor was noisier than our previous filter and that concerned me, but it's been fine. I've owned this for several months now and it's going strong.

Small, compact, quiet, but just okay. 5 gallon betta tank.
I just got a betta fish and 5 gallon tank, was looking for a small filter with adjustable current that wouldn't be too powerful for my fish. This fits that bill but unfortunately it doesn't seem to pick up anything that is floating in the tank. Since the filter is completely submerged, it's hard to direct the flow to push floating debris down so that it actually gets sucked up by the filter. At full output, the current is too strong for my betta. I have to cut it significantly, more than 50%, to make it comfortable for my fish. Obviously this can be worked around with decorations but if you turn down the output, you're also slowing down the input...so it's just not filtering as much gph. Finally, the instructions included were horrible. There's a few little elbows and a hose included that is just mysteriously floating in the pictures and really has nowhere to go on the filter. This would work fine as a supplemental filter or a small tank with light bioload and where current is okay in the tank. Not working for my needs though, so I had to order another hang on back filter where I can create a baffle for the output and turn down current without sacrificing power.

Better Alternatives
Flow to strong for Betta, didn't seem to like it. Even turned all the way down which results in the filter being pretty useless. The outflow pushing around tank water a lot. Takes up more room in tank than other similar alternatives. Betta guide suggested this filter, however I have found others that suit my tank better for the same price.

Missing so many parts I can't use it
I'm missing pretty much every part other than the large main component, an elbow, the flow control, and the silencer tube. The manual doesn't help at all, I'm missing so many things puctured that I can't tell if I have the right product.

Awesome filter at great price!
Best one ever for my 7 gal tank. Keeps the water crystal clear, slim, compact design and very easy to clean. Love this filter, highly recommend buying this product.

So so disappointed
This filter was recommended by my Aquarium maintenance person. Unfortunately, it broke within the first month and randomly stops having an outflow. Replacement parts are impossible to find.

I had this mini filter for a couple months, so far its good. I didn't have any issues with noise, very quiet. I clean it out every month. Its nice to be able to use the two compartments for other medias (carbon, phosban).

It's NOT what you think
I thought it was big, but I was wrong. It's so tinny, this item can be used for small little tank (5Gl - 20Gl) NO more than 20Gl, because it's doesn't have enough power to do the JOBS!!! I'm very disappointed when I opened it up, so I don't want to get it's return because of the CONVID-19 going around.
