Great Needle for Socks!
I was worried the 9" size would be tough to work with, but they are fine. I have a pair of 12" Addi Turbos that I found once years ago at a LYS - you never see any that size in the stores and before then it never occurred to me that you could actually find wee circular sock needles. I wanted a second pair because I like working two socks at once and DPNs can be a pain when you knit on the go, which I tend to do for small projects like socks. Plus sometimes those turbos feel a little too pointy and stabby on my fingers. It's been awhile since I knitted and the sensation of those sharp turbos were annoying to my fingertips. Plus, these were half the price. It does take some getting used to the short length of the actual needle. I am including a photo to show the difference between the Addi Turbi and the Clover needle. It's kind of comical how short the "loading" area is on the Clover needle, and I would definitely recommend casting on to a DPN and then transferring the stitches to the circular to ensure even tension. I thought I would really miss the longer cord on the Turbos, but after knitting one sock on the Clover and starting on a second on the Turbo, I noticed how often the stitches on the Turbo had to be nudged along. That doesn't happen with the shorter needle. And while I wouldn't say that the 12" needle stretches the socks out of shape, they are definitely stretching a bit. You can see in my other photo how the ribbing on the second sock is stretched out. I just noticed that Addi makes an 8" size 3 and now I am curious about that one. The 9" size on the Clover feels about right once you are used to it. I wish they had made a 10" and made the bamboo part a little longer, but regardless, these still beat DPNs in terms of speed and ease of knitting.

Great for socks
I tried these for socks after hearing so much about 9 inch circulars. Clovers are my favorite needles. These look weird because there is nothing to them, but unless you have large hands or trouble with grip, I think you would do fine with these. They knit faster and pretty much eliminate dropped stitches. Making anything smaller or larger in circumference than an adult sock would be a problem. I am had only knitted 3 pairs of socks in my life when I got these, and I took right to them, but I am a fast learner. People seem to love them or hate them. I love them!

Knitting with toothpicks!
Just kidding but, they are pretty small. When I first saw them, I laughed because they seem kind of ridiculous. I wondered how long it would take to get the hang of them. It didn't take long at all, actually. Casting on is a bit of a drag but then again, it's always my least favorite part. I don't think it's harder but because of the size, it took me a bit longer. Knitting with them feels pretty intuitive and is actually fun. They make the cutest little stitches too. Now, I have fairly small fingers (size 4 on my ring finger) so I honestly don't know if that makes it easier for me to use them but maybe. If you are a beginner, you probably aren't going to buy these right now anyway but if you do, there probably will be a learning curve. I do wish the metal to bamboo had a smoother transition as it seems like it rubs my finger slightly. I have some Addi Turbo circulars as well but they don't seem to rub like that. Could just be me. I actually prefer these Takumis over the Addis though. I wish they would make these in an 8" length but I guess I'll just have to break out the DPNs. Anyway, I call these my "Super Tiny Fun Needles" because they are just that. Fun to knit with and adorable as well!

No More DPNs for Me!
I really love these 9-inch circular needles! They are the perfect length for knitting adult socks. The bamboo needle tips provide just enough drag to keep the stitches from accidentally dropping off - a chronic problem I have with metal double-point needles (DPNs). It is true that for the first couple of rounds you may feel as if you are knitting with matchsticks, but as the knitting grows it becomes easy to maintain a relaxed grip on your knitting. I just finished my first pair of socks with these and was astonished at how fast I can complete a project without the constant needle adjustments that are required of both magic-loop knitting and traditional DPNs. The results are beautiful - absolutely smooth stockinette stitch without any trace of the laddering that can occur when knitting with DPNs. These needles have forever changed how I knit socks. I'm so in love with them that I've bought them in size 1, 2 and 3. You should give these a try - I predict you will love them too!

Best Needles to Travel with!
I like knitting with metal needles but if I am traveling then these are the best! I fly with these needles and sit comfortable knitting on my socks. You can use these needles sitting in the middle seat! Also, these needle are better for me to knit with when my husband is driving and I feel safer knitting with these needles in a moving vehicle. These needles are not for everyone, because the cord is so small and the needle is so short that it can become very uncomfortable for some knitters. If you have a heavy hand and hold your needles very tight then you might not want to buy the two smallest size of these needles because they will break. Happy knitting! Penandink

Well made too small
The needles are really well made. Just too small for arthritic hands
