Very efficient
This is the second one I’ve bought. The first one is still doing great. I bought it for my son-in-law and decided I wanted one too. I think compost takes longer to break down than most composter adds advertise, but this one does a good job. My only advice is to put a small bucket under the holes on the edge. The holes are needed and not a disadvantage of this composter. If your compost gets too wet it will leak out of the composter. I keep mine wet to help it compost faster. The liquid that comes out is compost tea and great for watering the garden. It is best to have two people to assemble this, but not too difficult to assemble.

Effective design for humid, cold climate scenarios
WHY THIS IS A BETTER DESIGN We have another composter, and it has a "tea drain" feature which is supposed to let you harvest the fluid coming out of the compost. Instead, that becomes plugged and stops draining altogether. You end up with sludge, which stays sludge for a long time, even if you add leaves and newsprint to improve the mix. Also, because it doesn't let the water drain, it becomes heavier and heavier to turn. THIS DESIGN It's easier to turn and I think I'll be able to keep the water drained out of it, I didn't love how long it to screw together, though it was straightforward. I think if it gets too heavy, it might tip over (our other one is closer to the ground, no "stilts"), though that's not a giant problem.

Really good composter, but...
I had this same composter before and know it's easy to use and works great. This was my first time having to put one together and it was frustrating to say the least. The instructions were pretty much just poor hand drawn pictures. There are clearer instructions online. I strongly suggest having someone help with assembly, as the barrel keeps turning while you are trying to put screws in it. I was ready to pull my hair out. Words were said. It's easier after you've done a few sections. The barrel has a divider so you can have one side storing your finished compost while starting another batch on the other side. It holds quite a bit, and just giving it a spin mixes up your compost. I deducted one star for the poor instructions.

Nice unit - heck of an assembly
So each panel has 7 screws that have to be installed, there are 8 panels. Put on a good movie your gonna be awhile. Manufacturer does not include extra screws and nuts which is nuts. You will be reaching inside and anchoring outside so octopus arms or a cooperating victim are nice. I used a socket with a long extension and the required flat head (why do people make flat head screws anymore?) Anyway, pretty basic and self explanatory, time patience, a few curses, keep track of those screws, and it's out there doing the job. Like it so far.

Pretty small, but should work as a second bin
We needed another compost bin to give our current one a rest, and we really like the rotating type like this. Pros: - The smaller size means it will be easier to turn when full. - The door has a "wait" symbol (a clock) and a deposit symbol (an arrow) to remind you which side you should be filling. This was a neat idea! - Once the 2 of us figured out how it went together (with very little help from the instructions), it was fairly easy to assemble, but 2 people definitely made it easier and faster. (It took us exactly an hour, including the fiddling with the base.) Cons: - It's quite a bit smaller than I was expecting, but the thinner plastic should hold up OK under the lower amount of weight of compost it can contain. - The instructions were really unhelpful in figuring out the base, because there are multiple ways to put the base together, but only one way to keep it from slanting. Use your words! Or better symbols on which ends go together! The price isn't bad for what you get, so I'm looking forward to having 3 bins to help us compost now.

One Major Flaw with this Composter
There is one significant flaw with this composter. It has a one-piece sliding door that opens to add material to the side that is collecting. It slides the other direction to open the other side to discharge the composted waste. It is fine for adding material, but in order to discharge the composted waste you have to first spin the composter so that the door is on the bottom of the composter and then open the door. This is difficult to do! If you don't turn the composter barrel upside down first, the open door stops the barrel from moving past the composter legs to be in a dumping position. Another downside is that the barrel isn't terribly big. The last composter I owned had two separate barrels that each were the size of this total composter.

Good quality composter
This seems to be a good quality composter. The frame seems sturdy enough to hold the tumbler up when full. The recycled plastic tumbler is very durable. With regard to assembly: download the web instructions. They’re much better than the paper ones you get. Have good lighting as the small screws and the tumbler panels are both black. Find a friend. I felt that 2 sets of hands are needed to help hold the tumbler and assemble, tighten screws, etc. Once the second panel is on and secured one person can finish it fairly easily. Only tools needed are screwdriver and small closed end wrench. Took slightly more than 1 hour.

Great Composter
It wasn't too difficult to assemble; the manufacturer provided an extra screw, though we gratefully didn't need it. This composter is easy to add and mix in materials. If you live in a region with four seasons, it's possible the compost will freeze in the colder months, especially if you are just starting a batch. However, we are still pleased with it. It can also be inconspicuous; you can just keep it by a garage and it likely won't be very noticeable.

Sturdy Composter
Purchased this composter due to its ability to rotate, and it does not disappoint. The body has two decent sized chambers for two loads of compost. When full, rotating is easy and the frame stays solid. Great unit. Pros: ☺ Rotates for easy tossing of compost ☺ Good size with 2 chambers ☺ Solid frame and plastic, feels like it will last. Cons: ☹ Tedious and daunting assembly with an abundant amount of screws. However, ultimately ensures quality a lasting build quality, so this is a minor con. Overall: Well built composter, which should last a good long time in the elements. Recommended. I enjoy helping consumers make informed decisions. Thank you very much for the 'Yes' helpful vote, and please feel free to comment or ask questions related to this product or other items I have reviewed on Amazon.

An outside dual composter? Say it ain't so!
This thing is so neat. One day the warm weather will come and we'll actually be able to compost in it. With a simple spin of this thing and your compost gets mixed up inside. Since there are 2 chambers, one is for the converted stuff, the other side is for the stuff that is breaking down. As for assembling it, give yourself an hour or so; about half a day if you don't read instructions... something I tend to do. I see it as a self-induced puzzle. Anyway, it's pretty simple, but easier to put together if you have long arms. The trickiest is to place the disk that separates the 2 chambers. Once it's all put together, it's very sturdy and looks like it's going to last for years. It better last with the amount of bolts on the thing. If you want an added challenge, get your dogs to walk around you and lick your ears while you're trying to put it together. It helps with your patience level.

Neat and compact but does not speed up composting
I bought this tumbling composter 4 months ago as research for the next edition of my book (How to make perfect compost by Phil Robinson - on Kindle). I split a pile of mixed compostable material into 2. I filled the tumbling composter (which was in the sun as recommended) and turned it regularly with one half of the material and put the other half in a large pot to compost as a control. After a couple of months both looked similar, I mixed up the control as you would turn a normal heap. After 4 months there was still little difference. I did find that the tumbling makes the compost loose so it does not warm up as much or encourage worms so I firmed down one side of the tumbler and this side did have fewer weed seeds germinating at the end and more worm activity. I turn my compost bins once and get good compost in about 6 months, this tumbler did not speed it up much if at all. The tumbling composter would be very useful if you do not have some earth on which to stand a conventional compost bin and had a relatively small amount of material. This model is neat and easy to use although did take an hour or two to assemble as it had what seemed like hundreds of screws.

Lousy design. Don't waste your money!
I've had this tumbler since 2018. It was more expensive then but just as much of a waste of money today! I thought the tumbler was a good idea but I absolutely HATE it! It makes clumps of heavy wet balls, sticks to the sides like mud and if it's too wet, watch out! When you spin it, it sprays black compost tea everywhere. It's difficult to empty. You need to have a tarp or bin underneath it to catch the compost but you can't scrape the muddy compost out because now the opening is facing down. When emptying sometimes the sliding lid will fall off and then you will also have unfinished compost with your mud. For some reason it invites flies to lay their eggs in it; opening it up to see all those squirming larvae is just disgusting! Because the tumbler is elevated you cannot have worms and if you add worms they will cook and die. This isn't the first compost bin I've had but it will be the last tumbler. It's going in the bin real soon.
